We stayed at the Pond Cabin for the second time and it was just as great as the first! They now have a sauna available to reserve and I highly recommend adding it to your stay! The sauna was beautifully built and worked perfectly and they let us use it for 2 hours which was more than enough time. They also had a hole in the pond ice for a cold plunge right next to the sauna which greatly added to the overall experience. The cabin was clean and cozy. The hosts are extremely friendly and responsive. Winter/early spring is the best time to stay at the Pond Cabin. We will be back as soon as possible!

We loved the beautiful hike in! The cabin had everything we needed and then some. Very comfortable! The sauna was lovely. Our kids ages 6 and 9 had so much fun! All instructions to get to the cabin and get settled were easy to follow.

4 nights at Bear Tree Homestead

The pond cabin was really cool. Visiting the property was awesome in general. Friendly hosts, amazing territory all around the structures, interesting and welcoming animals, all around. fantastic. I can't resist making one suggestion ... It'd be really cool if there were one more big window on the south wall of the cabin. The cabin stays plenty warm, so I don't think this would be an issue for keeping heat inside the cabin overnight. It would just make things more pleasant inside the cabin during the day. I think this is the first time I've ever suggested a modification to like this after a stay, and I was completely satisfied, it's just something I wanted to share because it would make such a difference!

3 nights at EcoXtreme Adventure Destination

We had such a beautiful stay here at the Copper Cabin. The snowshoe in was quite the trek with the recent snow, but having sleds and snowshoes available to use at basecamp were super helpful! Darryl and Linda were gracious hosts all throughout with great communication on how to access everything. Proximity to Mt. Bohemia was perfect. Went skiing at the end of the road in Copper Harbor and spent a lot of 'winter daydream' down-time watching snow fall at the cabin too. Will be back.

Weekend Trip to Bear Tree Homestead

This cabin was tucked away miles from the main road and had everything we needed. It is right next to a pond with ducks and other animals and served as the perfect weekend getaway. Jill was a fantastic host and had a solution already in the cabin for every one of our small problems. The cabin gets very warm and cozy in the winter and the outdoor toilet is clean. Nothing but 5 stars all around.

This was a new winter adventure for my life long friend and skiing partner and me! There was ALOT of snow!!! It was like snow shoeing into Narnia! We were pleasantly surprised that the cabin was warm when we got there! The cabin was amazing, just as it looks in the pictures! We weren’t able to get the fire going in the sauna as we were unable to split the wood into small enough pieces. And we had some difficulty with the fire the first night due to the wood being wet, but once it got burning hot enough it was good and toasty! Overall it was a great winter adventure! We felt pretty accomplished that we were able to “Rough it” in the winter! We even had the pleasure of meeting Linda at Mt. Bohemia that week! The snow and skiing was Epic! Thank you Linda and Darryl for sharing this beautiful place!

Weekend Trip to Ricky’s Pine River hunt/camp

This is the coziest cabin ever if you'd like to experience being tucked away in the middle of winter. We enjoyed snowfall all day and there was already over a foot of snow on the ground, making for great snowshoeing. Our dogs loved running and playing with host dog Jack. The Jøtul stove is amazing, Scandinavian ingenuity! Nearby Cadillac is a great town to visit for eats and drinks!

Weekend Trip to Ricky’s Pine River hunt/camp

Winter camping at its finest! 2-3 feet of snow but the woodstove kept us plenty warm! 80 acres of beautiful land to wander/snowshoe around. Peace and quiet. Rick was responsive and super helpful when we got turned around snowshoeing. Basics were provided. No electricity or water so make sure you bring candles/solar lights and something to charge your phones with. We did just find by candlelight and headlamps. Always a bonus to unplug from your phone for an entire weekend. We will definitely be back!

3 nights at Bear Tree Homestead

We loved our winter stay at the cabin and the new sauna was fantastic. Snowy walks in nearby woods, skiing trails so close, and winter festivities in Marquette kept us busy. Great accommodations with the kitchen and the masonry fireplace made it easy to feel comfortable and fed. Our hosts provided every detail and answered all our questions so we always felt really taken care of. We loved Orchard cabin.

This is our 4th winter stay at the Eco-Extreme Cabin. Amazing snow this year in the Keweenaw Peninsula. Had some great XC skiiing and snowshoeing. A well-trod path through the snow to the cabin & easily accessed sleds to bring our food & gear in. Wood stove kept us cozy in the cabin and nice & warm in the loft at night (0 degrees outside, toasty in the loft). Everything was beautiful & peaceful. In spite of all of the snow (24" + on the ground when we arrived, another 10"+ fell during our stay), getting in & out & around is no problem. Roads & area where our car was parked were plowed repeatedly. Took in the spa at Mt Bohemia, & the sauna at Takka Superior on Lake Superior near Eagle Harbor. Always love to stop in at Keweenaw Coffee Works in Calumet. Can't wait for the next visit!!

The whole of the experience was so much even better than we hoped for. From a short walk up the road with one of the dogs, a little sledding, a lot of laughing and relaxing.. it was so peaceful and cozy. The stars came out some for us even as it was snowing, and the cabin itself as they have it set up just felt so welcoming. This was an important retreat for my partner and I and really helped us have some quality time away from the kids and the everyday stuff.

Weekend Trip to McCormick Artisans Woods/River

We loved our stay at Mac and Ann's place! Our goal was to hike some of the NCT but Mother Nature iced us in so we ended up staying at the cabin drinking beer and putting a puzzle together. We have a fantastic stay and the woodstove kept us very cozy. We would definitely stay there again no matter what the weather.

Lynx Run Wilderness Retreat

My property (Lynx Run) has an amazing geological and historical background. During the last ice age, glacial waters carved out the ravine in which the Betts Creek flows. Sometimes, the creek drops over 60 feet below the surrounding terrain as it meanders back and forth in oxbows as it flows toward the Muskegon River. It was once the hunting, foraging and camping grounds of the Potawatami Indians. In the late 1800's it was at the center of the Michigan Timber Industry. Running along the edge of my property is the old railroad bed where timber was once hauled away. Only two miles from my home, the logs were sent down the side of the hill and into the Muskegon River on log chutes and then floated to where the Muskegon empties into Lake Michigan. Piles of field stones indicate that after the timber industry moved on, farmers moved in and attempted to tame the land. But, fortunately for me, the land was abandoned by the farmers and has returned to a much more natural and pristine state. My land is now a part of the Manistee National Forest and I am surrounded by thousands of acres of beautiful land (both public and private). I am the only person who lives back here in this part of the forest, so seclusion and privacy are wonderful and the wildlife and beauty is abundant.

Bear Lake Meets da Yellow Dog

Your host property is 13 acres between the Yellow Dog River, and Bear Lake, with frontage on both. The Yellow Dog River is a legendary trout stream, and many artists have found that the river satisfies their need for the wild. There are two cabin sites available, One overlooking Bear Lake with sunset views, and the other a cabing that was moved to the property in 1999 to preserve it. Both sites share amenities such as the outhouse, communal fire pit and water, but the cabins are not in close proximity so everyone has their privacy. They are both rustic cabins having no running water, or electricity. A futon with mattress cover is provided in each cabin along with a table and chairs. See the individual site descriptions for more details. We are 20 miles (app) north of Marquette, which is my home town. It is a destination for bikers, skiiers, and outdoor rec folk! There are so many things to see and do in Marquette, so make sure to plan enough time to check out the town! Also, just six miles to our north is historic Big Bay. A lumber town back in the day, it is full of history. Check out the Thunder Bay Inn, where parts of Anatomy of a Murder, starring Jimmy Stewart and Lee Remick were filmed. Don't miss going to the Lumberjack to see where the actual murder took place, either! You will find good eats and perhaps even some live music at either establishment. You'll also find everything you need in the way of groceries, and gas at Cram's General Store, where there's also a laundromat. Burns landing just north of the marina has the historic Burns family home renovated in a park setting, and a public beach access to mighty Lake Superior. This park has picnic tables and grills, and even a handicap accessible outhouse and trail to the lake. Yellow Dog falls is a short drive on Co. Road 510, and on the way be sure to climb Thomas Rock overlook. There are new bike trails if you're into that as well! Stay awhile. You'll be glad you did! We strive to offer peace and serenity to our guests, and love to share these woods with those needing tranquility and respite from a busy world. In this sensitive environmental area, we have only two sites to keep traffic down, enhance our visitors experience, and to protect the wildlife here. Unplug with us, eh!

Tincan Camp

This fun property is just under 7 acres - butted up to another 12 acres of public land (and boat launch) with trails, boardwalk and a dock on 51 acre Lake Eleven. The property is shared by (2) full-hook up RV sites and a cabin. If available, the cabin and sites may be rented together however the owners, Jim and Maria, use the cabin much of the summer leaving just the RV sites available. The property is at mile market 13 of the Kal-Haven Trail - the midpoint. The Kal-Haven Trail is a biking, cross-country skiing, walking, running, snowmobiling - you name it, the trail that goes 34 miles from Kalamazoo to South Haven. Literally steps from the property and you are on the trail. But you may not need to leave the property, with 6.3 acres of woods and field, with trail cut through PLUS the added public lands butted up to Tincan's property line, giving almost 20 acres to roam. Each RV site - far enough apart to be separate, close enough if you and friends/family want to camp together, has a fire pit and fireplace. Each RV site offers water, 30|50AMP electrical and septic. The dock may have availability for keeping you boat - please inquire. There are kayaks and some bikes (mostly teen and adult size) that may be used. These are shared amenities for the cabin and campsite guests and offered on a first come, first serve basis. There are surprises galore around the property; big foots to be found tucked around the property, games, and overall just a fun place to be. This was a run-down fishing cabin Jim and Maria lovingly brough back to life as a second home and they delight in sharing it. Jim often referred to it as "The Tincan" while working on it as it was - indeed, a tin shack and the name stuck. Kate, your booking coordinator, helps Jim and Maria tend to the administrative side of getting the property booked and keeping the details in order. Have A Lake Of Your Own!

The property was originally owned by a family name Nichols (thus the name of the lake). It was handed down to the sons who each owned half the property. The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property.My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. The Crow’s Nest

A rustic, permalog style cabin that is suited to accommodate up to nine. This is a cabin to help disconnect from the hustle and bustle of our chaotic lives. There is limited cell signal, no internet and no local or cable channels. The cabin is pet friendly, as I believe our pets are an extension of our families and should get to vacation with everyone rather than boarded (dogs only are allowed). Primary source of heat is a propane wall furnace. There is an electric fireplace in the living room. In the summer there is a window AC unit at the cabin and a fan for the loft (it does get hot up there). The cabin is very close (1/4 mile) to the AuSable River where you can easily launch boats, canoes and more. The ORV trail head is just a 1/4 mile down the road. This is also the perfect cabin for hunting, fishing, hiking and trail riding. Be sure to keep an eye out for an eagle or two. Also had deer tracks in the yard.

The ORV trailhead is at the end of the street with some of the best trails for ATV's, dirt bikes, UTV's and snowmobiles. You can ride directly from the Kozy Kabin to the trails. There should be plenty of room to park your truck/trailer and additional cars in the driveway as well. Please do not ride in the yard, keep it on the trails. If there is any sign of riding in the yard, there will be an additional charge to your stay to repair the lawn. Other things to note: We do not currently have WiFi at the Kozy Kabin, but you are able to hook up the TV to a hotspot to use the smart TV/roku features. Most cell providers get good service here. There is no smoking or vaping inside of the Kozy Kabin, but you are welcome to smoke outside. Please do not dispose of cigarette butts on the ground. If there are any signs of smoking inside there will be an additional cleaning charge to your stay. Dogs are always welcome, but please clean up after them. There is a designated poop shovel in or near the shed. Please do not leave any land mines in the yard, but the woods is fine!
