Wildiron Bigfork

We live on 10 acres of mixed forest and field. In the summer we have an active blacksmithing school and flower farm here. The idea of a sustainable, self reliant lifestyle has always been part of our life and passing it down to others is a joy for us. We sustainably manage our food and forest to be the best stewards we can for our environment and our neighbors. Our Cabin and structures were built primarily of materials that were recycled or milled on site. which makes them warm and inviting. The Cabin is located close to our shop which houses an active blacksmithing school in the summer months where the rest of the structures are separate and in an area tucked away on the edge of the woods.Jeffrey and Betsy work to make your stay as welcoming as possible. We maintain a small orchard of fruit trees, a garden which feeds us year round and a small flower farm on the property. Avid skiers, bikers, paddlers and hikers, offering the property for others to enjoy was a conscious decision made when planning all of our infrastructure. Come and enjoy all the beautiful Flathead Valley has to offer.

Woody's On Flathead Lake

11 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents2 acres · Somers, MT
Welcome to ‘Woody's on Flathead Lake’. This is my Wild Firefighter's Base-camp. It were we dispatch to fight wildfires from. We store, prep and repair emergency equipment and gear at our shop, here. It’s where we heal after a long season. It’s where my Tribe of Firefighters, is always welcome.. It’s not a KOA, were not a campground, it’s healing ground I'm sharing it with Hipsters, for the first time, anywhere. Enjoy! It's a little bit of a Quirky kinda place. A couple acres of ground, a lake, mountains and good times. Run by a Wild Firefighter, known as "Wildman Woody". A big bowl carved out of the base of a mountain, walking distance to Flathead Lake. There are tons of hiking trails and back mountain roads to explore, out your backdoor. The beach and boat launch. There you will find, fishing charters, sailing lessons, boats, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, for rent. Along with lots of folks from everywhere. If you're, sad or depressed and would like a good laugh, park a squat next to the boat launch on a busy day. Great entertainment, trust me, true story. The beach is fun too, lots of folks swimming and just having some fun on a hot summer day, You never know who you'll run into here. It has a nice roped off swimming area, no lifeguard. It's a great spot for picnics as there are some shaded secluded places nestled in the trees, with picnic tables, near the water. There's another beach in Somers, called Wayfarers, in a more private, quiet area with shallow water and sandy beach. Water is warmer there, too. Critter friendly. You can launch your boat, once it's been inspected, by MT Fish and Game for Invasive Aquatic Species. Something we take very seriously here, on the Flathead. Base-camp is quiet and pretty private. Great for healing and revitalization. EMF’s are very low because of its location. Which means, some folks may experience connection issues with certain carriers. Wi-Fi is available, or head to higher ground nearby for a better signal. Each site comes with a movable fire-pit, with a lid that converts it into a table when not in use. It also has two pivot-able grill at different cooking heights. There's a wooden panic table for 4 that converts to a love seat for two, to enjoy the Bonfire with, later.

Wildlight Yurt

1 site · Lodging24 acres · Alberton, MT
Our land is 24 acres set against Cinderella Mountain, facing the Clark Fork River. There are two houses and a yurt on the property. The yurt is available for rent on this site to stay the night in, 8 guests maximum. **For gatherings and up to 20-person events, please visit our website, wildlightmontana.com. Address: The maps program on HipCamp is outdated and our address, which was created during the Covid lockdown, does not show up here. If you use Google Maps you can search "Wildlight Montana" to find us or please direct message me for the address. The yurt is a beautiful open space utilized weekly for local yoga classes and private events. The space is therefore not set up with bedding; guests should bring their own camping pads, cots, sleeping bags, etc. A pro to staying here is that the space comes stocked with yoga props for stretching in the evening while you arrive, sitting and gathering, or maybe doing a private yoga class before you leave in the morning. Feel free to message us and book a private sound therapy, Reiki or yoga session while you are at the property! There is nice view of the valley surrounding, and a trail leading up into the woods behind the yurt to walk on. Wild turkeys, deer, elk and eagles right outside your door. There is a woodstove inside for cooler nights that we can instruct folks who feel comfortable to use, and a small firepit out front. Facilities: Outside, in front of the yurt, there is a back-to-back outhouse and hand washing station available for guests, stocked with toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap. An insulated out-building sits just to the west of the yurt entrance, right where the dirt driveway turns toward the yurt itself when you drive up. The out-building is equipped as a kitchenette, and includes a refrigerator, electric kettle and coffee maker. Please note: there is no running water inside this building, however we will have a 5 gallon jug of well water set up in a water dispenser for you to access there. We ask guests to clean up after themselves in these spaces. The handwashing area is set up for rinsing off dishes while you're here as well. We will make sure to provide a dish tub, cleaning supplies, enough dishes, utensils and mugs for up to 8 people (or compostable picnicware if necessary at the time of rental). Note about the train: There are train tracks that run along the river in front of our property. The tracks are dropped down low enough that you can just see the top of the train, with trees also blocking the sound. The train will only sound its horn here if there are animals on the tracks, a fairly rare occurrence after four years living here. All in all, it isn't bothersome feature to most who stay, and we've had positive feedback from renters. It still feels fair to note.
