The only Private Outdoor Rock Climbing Park in Utah IMPORTANT: All climbers must bring their own climbing equipment. There is no equipment at the property for rent or purchase. Crawdad Canyon is one of the only privately owned, outdoor rock climbing parks in the USA. Our unique climbing park offers much cooler temps, which allows you to climb all day, even on hot days in the desert. This is because our intimate canyon offers loads of shade and always has a cool breeze off the Santa Clara River. Located in Southern Utah, just minutes from St George, we have 234 bolted climbing routes in solid basalt walls, scaling up to 85 feet high. Routes range in difficulty from 5.6 to 5.13, so there’s something for all ages and skill levels. You’ll find brass plaques at the base of each climb, with the name and rating of each climb. We’ve had rock climbers from more than 25 different countries climb our canyon walls here in Veyo! Add rock climbing to your family reunion, company party, or private event! Ask about group discounts. MAKE SURE TO READ THE FOLLOWING: •All of our visitors must sign a liability waiver. You can do this at the canyon or do it right here online: Sign the waiver now! •ALL climbers MUST sign in at the front desk – No exceptions! •Climbers under 18 must have a parent present to sign waiver or will not be allowed to climb •A free map of our climbing areas and a list of climbs can be found at our front desk. We also have a local guidebook available for use. All Rock Climbing and bolts are managed by Southern Utah Climbing Coalition (SUCC). IMPORTANT: All climbers must bring their own climbing equipment. There is no equipment at the property for rent or purchase. Catching crawdads is one of the most popular activities in our canyon! It’s a blast for all ages! There’s no better way to unplug your kids from the digital world and connect with nature. Our river has a much larger population of crawdads because there are tons of small, warm springs flowing into the water. This makes our stretch of the river warmer than normal, which encourages a greater number of crawdads. Bring your own gear or purchase one of our specially assembled Crawdad Catching Kits. We hand-make our own crawdad catching poles, which will surely help you reel in the big ones. Our crawdad catching kits are just $15 and include the following gear: •Crawdad Catching Pole •Crawdad Bucket •Crawdad Net •Crawdad Bait •Crawdads can be caught year-round, yet they are more active and easier to catch in the spring, summer, and fall. We are a Catch-and-Release property. We ask our visitors to leave all crawdads in the river since they won’t survive outside of their natural habitat. Thank you! Crawdads are friendly creatures, yet their pinchers can grab your fingers so be careful! No, if you come to go rock climbing in our canyon, you need to provide your own climbing equipment and/or guides. 2. How much does it cost to enter the canyon? This includes all activities in the canyon except Camping, which requires an additional nightly fee per campsite. 3. Can I park in the Canyon? It depends. The county and local fire department restrict how many vehicles are allowed in the canyon. As a result, vehicles are only allowed if you reserve a campsite or picnic site. 4. Why do I have to sign a wavier to enter the property? Our insurance carrier requires each person to sign a Liability Waiver. All adults must sign for themselves. Minors are required to have their parent or legal guardian sign the waiver on their behalf before accessing the canyon. Our waiver is available online: Sign Waiver Now 5. Can I have a fire at my campsite/picnic site? Campers are only allowed to have fires if they are in covered fire pits. We provide a fire pit with each campsite/picnic site reservation. The Ultimate Campsite (#8) is the only site that allows for an open-flame fire because this fire pit is located against the cliffs. 6. What are your hours of operation? Alcohol is not allowed in the pool area. However, you may have it at your campsite/picnic site. 10. Is smoking allowed on the property? No smoking is allowed in the canyon. We request that you go to the top of the canyon to smoke so it doesn’t disturb our non-smoking customers. 11. Are animals allowed on the property? No animals, including dogs, may be brought into the Canyon, with the exception of ADA Service Animals. Please see the ADA FAQ page for details on what qualifies as a service animal. Note that “The ADA makes a distinction between psychiatric service animals and emotional support animals… if [a] dog’s mere presence provides comfort, that would not be considered a service animal under the ADA” and will not be permitted on the premise. 12. Can I drive my RV or Trailer into the canyon? No, the road down into the canyon is too steep for RVs and Trailers. We’ve had many people try, but most get stuck. As a result, we don’t allow RVs/Trailers in the canyon. However, we have an area at the top of the canyon reserved for RV/Trailer parking and camping. There is a nightly fee of $35 for dry camping or parking your rig in this area. 13. Do you offer group discounts? Yes, we offer special packages and pricing for groups of 10 or more people. Camping near Mesquite guide

Overview

Located in the Virgin River Valley in southern Nevada, along the Nevada-Arizona border near Utah, Mesquite combines small town charm with casinos and resort amenities, along with a large concentration of world-class golf courses. Outdoor adventurers will find plenty of options nearby, from hiking and biking, to rock climbing, off-roading, fishing, and wildlife spotting. While camping options within Mesquite are limited to RV parks with amenities like full hookups and wifi, campers don't have to go far for developed and primitive camping in nearby state parks, national monuments, parks, and recreation areas, on BLM land, and glamping options in the desert.

Where to go

Mesquite and Vicinity

Within Mesquite, RV campers have several RV parks to choose from, including Solstice Motorcoach Resort and Sun Resorts RV Park. Just south of Mesquite, the Gold Butte National Monument offers petroglyphs and rugged terrain for off-road exploration, along with primitive camping options. Across the border in Arizona, the Virgin River Canyon National Recreation Area offers hiking, water play, and wildlife viewing, along with two designated wilderness areas and a BLM campground with pull-through RV sites.

Valley of Fire State Park

Fifty miles southwest of Mesquite in the Mojave Desert, Valley of Fire State Park is known for a surreal landscape of red sandstone canyons and cliffs. There are two campgrounds inside the park for tent and RV camping, including one open year-round. Dispersed camping options can also be found just outside the west and east entrances to the park.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area

Lake Mead National Recreation Area offers 1.5 million acres of mountains, canyons and two lakes, Lake Mead and Lake Mohave. Getting out on the water is the main draw here, though biking and hiking trails are also available. More than a dozen national parks and concessionaire-run campgrounds offer around 900 tents and RV sites. Vehicle, horseback, shoreline, and backcountry camping options are also available.

Utah

Head to Utah for a wide range of outdoor activities, including epic mountain biking near St. George, hiking, ATV riding, kayaking, and scuba diving in Sand Hollow State Park, and water play at Quail Creek State Park. Zion National Park is also nearby, and offers scenic drives, towering canyon walls, slot canyons, and gorges. Plenty of developed campgrounds are available in the various parks, along with RV parks around St. George.

When to go

Spring and fall are the best times to visit Mesquite for outdoor activities, including camping. Summer temperatures can soar and become dangerously warm for certain activities, and many desert campgrounds will be closed then. Mesquite hosts several popular events throughout the year, including the Nevada Open Golf Championship In November, and the Mesquite Hot Air Balloon Festival and Mesquite Motor Mania in January.
