Such an amazing place!! Gregory is a very great host, provided clear instructions and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay!! Highly recommend this place!

1 night at Art City Tucumcari

This was a very interesting find! Thanks hip camp! The owner was very friendly and responsive just as the reviews say he is. The art work and lit up trails made for an interesting walk with our dogs. We camped right outside my favorite art piece "Facing the Fear Beast." A nice, secluded spot tucked away. It was definitely worth the extra 3-4 hour drive to stay on the way home from our trip! Highly recommend if you appreciate art.

1 night at Art City Tucumcari

This campsite was like a fever dream. An awesome fever dream with giant lit up sculptures, spotless toilets and glorious outdoor showers with piping hot water. We stopped here in our campervan just for one night and was definitely worth it. Great campsite, cool art, great outdoor kitchen to use. We were bummed to miss out on the hot tub and sauna, which are only open on weekends. If you are on the fence, just do it and stay here. (Be sure to take a close up look at the Fear Beast. It’s incredible.)

Weekend Trip to White Sands Culinary Camp

If you're going within 100 miles of this place, you should detour. OMG. Chef Üdø’s FOOD. He was incredibly nice and helpful and friendly in a way that didn't crowd, the land was quiet with a beautiful night sky, he had potable water that was easy to access, and his composting toilet was the cleanest and least stinky I've experienced in 6 months of lots of different composting toilets, but all of that paled compared to THE FOOD. I had his vegetarian tacos, chocolate cake, and snickerdoodles, and all three were divine. I've never had tacos with the ingredients he used and I'll think about them forever. The chocolate cake had me stopping just short of licking the tin foil. And my partner and I agreed that we should probably not tell either of our moms about the snickerdoodles, as they both have recipes they're proud of for them. Can't recommend a stay here highly enough!

Weekend Trip to Art City Tucumcari

10 out of 5 stars—seriously. Art City is one of those rare places that feels like a destination in itself. You’ll want at least two nights here—there’s so much to explore during the day, but the real magic happens at night when everything lights up. The included showers and communal kitchen area were a great touch, and made the stay feel super comfortable. We’ll definitely be back!

Art City is absolutely perfect for a camper or a glamper. It's perfectly located the artworks incredible hospitality wonderful. The amenities are well worth it so thank you for being a part of my health journey. I highly suggest doing the spa pass and don't forget to walk the trails to see all the art. Beningno was super helpful and even brought me an aloe plant for my burn. Love this place and would stay again!

This is a great spot for people who love art, it is especially magical after dark when all of the sculptures are lit. The tent/ van campsites are nice, water and electric close by. Although we didn't use the hot tub, sauna, or kitchen facilities they were really well designed and clean. We would highly recommend!

1 night at White Sands Culinary Camp

Chef Udo is a plethora of knowledge with cooking skills to match. He and his family went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and safe. Working while traveling also has an added element so rest assured, Verizon gave me enough bars to download work files without too much delay no matter where on the property you end up setting up. I booked at the last minute which meant no brine chicken but after a chat he came up with several options that would be feasible and it did disappoint! A home cooked meal while driving cross country topped any expectations. After a long day of travel this place, the view, the people and the food have made it one of my all time favorite hip camps. As a single woman traveling I would absolutely recommend for anyone, especially the brave women solo travelers. Do yourself a favor and order some food too.

1 night at Juniper Mesa Camp

This is a lovely rustic experience. I am camper at heart and this is the perfect inbetween for a Glamp Camp experience. The road up the mountain is steep but doable. I made it up in my old loaded SUV easy. Just take it slow it’s bumpy. The yurt is spacious and dreamy. Kate had a great eclectic vibe. The camp kitchenette was humble and charming. You can expect fresh drinking water and little pot to wash your dishes. There is a little propane rocket stove to heat your water for coffee and she supplies a cooler but you have to byob ice. 🧊 I stayed on a cool night and the propane heater kept us warm. I piled the blankets on thick and turned it off around midnight to avoid any CO2 issues. When I got up at dawn the yurt was cold! But it didn’t take long for that tiny propane heater to warm things up again. Outside there is a composting bucket toilet. If you really wanted to you could probably leave the door open for a poo with a view. The shower area is modest and breezy. I didn’t take one as my bucket of water was cold and I was in a hurry to head out. I brought my pup and Kate’s dog 🐕 and my pup played so well. Late evening showed me a great hike. I’m so grateful for my stay ! Lots of rest and rest and reset. Thanks Kate.

The place was beautiful, extremely welcoming and comforting atmosphere. The host was very sweet and gave me needed nearby recommendations for food and repairs i needed done. Felt safe at all times as a solo traveler, this is the spot!

Weekend Trip to Mesa Top camping

Kim has a very special spot here and I’m so glad we were able to stay. Gorgeous view of the canyon and mesa, plus a very special cemetery to explore. I was glad we were driving a high clearance vehicle for the road up from town, so be mindful of that. But Kim was very kind and we hope to be able to return again some time.

2 nights at Art City Tucumcari

Art City is truly a one-of-a-kind experience! The hosts were incredibly kind, and the art throughout the property was simply breathtaking. It's evident that a lot of thought and care went into every detail of the facilities, right down to the bathrooms, which perfectly blend form and function. The communal areas, including the kitchen, showers, sauna, and hot tub, were all beautifully designed. The open-air shower, in particular, was a blissful experience. The entire property is pristine and meticulously maintained. As someone who usually boondocks, having access to electricity felt like a real luxury. It's wonderful that a place like this offers both water and shore power. If you’re driving through New Mexico, this is a must see! Be sure to give yourself a couple of nights to properly experience all of the wonders this special place has to offer.

What an amazing stay! I was just driving through Tucumcari when a billboard for Art City caught my eye. I drive right there, booked right outside the gate and was in my RV spot within 15 minutes. It’s so fun walking around during the day but it was completely magical at night. Larger than life art by some very talented artists. The sauna was the cherry on top. I’d stay again!

This was my second time staying overnight at Art City and I loved it just as much as the first time. Since I was last there, they’ve already been working on putting up more art and prepping for a mini skatepark they plan to build. The coolest folks and well maintained, comfortable and beautiful space.

Art City is a very unique and interesting stay. The art installations are amazing, and when they are lit up at night, WOW! They provide a communal kitchen with oven and refrigerator. Two outside (enclosed) showers with on demand water. You can also reserve their wood-fired hot tub or sauna (in advance). Both are located in a beautiful outside communal setting. There are also flush toilet restrooms, and composting toilets available. We walked the grounds daily and several times at night. Our site was level and had 30amp, and water. We travel in a 40ft Class A with a tow vehicle and had no problem getting in or out of the area. We loved the natural state of the location. Our host for our time there, Benigno, was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Two Hawk Ranch

Two Hawk Ranch is comprised of 12 acres of high mountain valley meadows, hay fields, Acequias, trees and the Rio Chiquito. Yes, we are located at approximately 7,800ft elevation. My husband and I stumbled across this beautiful and serene property by accident in 2020 just as Covid hit. We feel blessed to be here and feel the need to share it’s calming, restful qualities. We have three adult children and have three grandchildren. We also have eight international children as we hosted international students for four years. You are welcome to come sit by the fire and be social or just do your own thing. Learn more about this land: Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. The RV camping is located near one of our horse corrals and above our irrigation Acequia, above or next to the house, or in the field down by the arena after haying is complete (usually after the first week of July as long as the rain cooperates). Can back in or pull through and has 110v power nearby. No water to hook up to, but we can fill your tanks via hose by the house or arena. Other sites available if you don’t need power, or have a generator. Property is within a 100yds of national forest service that gives access to off-roading, hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. We are located just off the High Road to Taos in Llano, 29 miles south of Taos and 55 miles north of Santa Fe. We are eight miles from Ski Sipapu and eight miles from Rio Santa Barbara Canyon. Your well-behaved pets are welcome. We also have one great dane (Raggy), a great dane mix (The Morrigan), one ranch cat (Sasha) and four horses (Gentry, Shadow, Mattie & Jr G). The dogs are a rescue of some kind. The Morrigan is black, 3.5 yrs old and comes out of a rescue in AZ. She went in with her litter as a 5 month old puppy, and she came here about a year later. She is reticent and suspicious, so ignore her and she will come up to you on her own; continue to ignore her. Ragnar (Raggy) is our most recent rescue and is from Las Cruces. He's 3 yrs old and a merle. He suffers from anxiety and fears children. We are working him through his fears, and he is doing really well. The weather here tends to run cooler, as we are located in the mountains in a small valley at approximately 7,800 ft above sea level. In the spring through fall, temps will average from mid 40°F up to mid 60°F at night and mid 60°F up to mid 90°F during the day. Temps can get into the 100°F's in the summer, but that is rare. Generally if the sun is out, it is warm or hot even tho the actual temps are not. It's a high-altitude affect. The opposite is true as well. Cloud cover will feel cooler. We also experience monsoon style rains that occur in the afternoon generally starting in July and running into August or later. In the late fall through early spring during winter, the average temps usually run from 0°F up to mid 20°F at night with occasional dips into negative temps and in the day generally run from mid 20°F up to the mid 40°F range. Same as above - if the sun is out, it will feel warmer, etc. We do hay the fields, so we may have tractor activity going on in the late spring and early summer. In the winter we will be clearing snow from the roads and feeding hay. Can't wait to see everyone this year!

Horse-Thief Campground is an upcoming camp; located on 5 acres of land and more, for campers to enjoy. In a quiet; serene, beautiful landscape area of the Dine Nation. Every Sunday he would ride those 6 miles to have supper with her and her family and in 1940, 2 weeks after her 16th birthday, they married. They traveled around before coming back here, buying a small portion of this farm from the elderly owners and farming the rest for them, but in 1953, the man died (his name was Ernest Ward) in the small concrete house I now use for storage, that my dad had built for he and his wife when he first came to work for them. My parents built a home for his widow in Hatch (14 miles) and bought the farm from her. My family has owned it since. I was gone for 31 years, but returned to the land and place I love and plan to stay here till I die!
