It is an incredible little gem right off the highway in San Cristobal, 8 miles north of Taos. It is right next to the national forest and endless trails to explore, steps away. For now, RV camping (with their own bathrooms) or tent campers with portable toilets. Restrooms and showers are currently being worked on. RV/tent spots have running water and electricity/hook-ups. We do not allow the dumping of sewage tanks due to New Mexico's regulations on septics and private land. Vast, breathtaking views of the Sangre de Cristos mountains and Taos Mountain are right to the south. Easy access to the midtown market, where you can pick up breakfast burritos, beer, drinks, and limited supplies for camping. We do offer firewood! Wake up to mountains, hiking, and breakfast burritos that will make you ask yourself, “Is this heaven or Taos?”

Ultimate peace and privacy. Nestled in juniper-wooded hills with sweeping views. Close to Albuquerque (20 minutes) and Santa Fe (40 minutes) but feels like a secluded retreat.
Most people have no problem finding my place by entering my address in their GPS. However, I have had 2 HipCampers report their GPS directed them to a road called Camino de las Brisas or Las Brisas Loop.
Turning here will lead you to a steep, dangerous road where it will be very difficult to turn around if you're in an RV and impossible with a trailer. Continue on Camino de Las Huertas to Senda Osa Vieja. It's marked with a street sign, a stone monument with brass plate. There's also a blue "private road" sign with a dragon.
This land was purchased in 1956 by my archeologist parents because of the ancient pueblo site (dating from 1000 A.D.) and pit house sites (dating from 800 A.D.) Until the mega drought seriously impacted the land, a stream ran through it year round. Now it is only intermittent. Across the valley from this property, and within view of the campsite, is the site of a Spanish Colonial village, San Jose de las Huertas. It dates from the 1700s and is now owned by the Archeological Conservancy. This area is rich in history both Native American and Spanish.

Located in the high desert 20 minutes from Albuquerque and 40 minutes from Santa Fe. Views of Sandia mountains, and near historic archeological sites. Within a 10 minute drive are popular mountain biking trails. Petroglyphs are a 20 minute, moderately strenuous hike from property. Very peaceful, quiet and safe.

We are a retired couple who had lived high in the Colorado Rockies for the last 50 years. We camped at this property several summers ago. We immediately fell in love with the beauty and peacefulness. Native Americans inhabited this area over thousand years ago as evidenced by the Petrogylphs around the ranch. We feel honored to have the opportunity to preserve and share this ancient art.
We had the opportunity to purchase the ranch from a lady who had an animal rescue on the ranch. Come and enjoy the beauty and peace that The Golden Rose Ranch provides.
We moved in the summer of 2023 to CT because I could not breathe very well in Leadville at 10,152'. Our son lives in CT so it was a great place for us to spend the "last chapter" of our lives.
The name, Golden Rose, comes from the restaurant that we owned in Leadville, Co, through much of the 20th century.

Central and North Central New Mexico
