Goodschoolfarm

10 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents26 acres · Forestville, NY
*On July 10th Goodschoolfarm was hit by a tornado. The campers are intact but we have a ton of tree clean up to do. We will take this message down when we reopen for booking. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to hosting you soon! Feel free to message me if you have any questions. -Chris* We are a former homestead with a swimming pond, two beautiful art campers and camp spots. We are on the wild Chautauqua Ridge with trails in the woods, abundant wildlife, and are located near many places to explore: Lake Erie, Amish trail, excellent fishing, local farms, and beautiful hiking. We are on a dirt road very secluded and quiet but not far away from main traveling routes. The two campers are custom built and decorated by artists, very comfortable unheated glamping accommodations. There is one gravel pull off site for a small RV or camper van, and the rest of the sites are dispersed camp sites. We have delicious spring water for you fill up and enjoy at the farmhouse, with no running water at the sites. Toilets are primitive, and we can provide firewood on request. Ask us about things to do and places to explore in WNY, we are happy to point you towards a fun and unique adventure. Summers in WNY are wonderful! We plan to be open in May through roughly October. We are happy to advise you on weather conditions during the late spring and early fall.

Camp Buttcheek Smicklesmirk

1 site · Lodging3 acres · Crosby, PA
Qurious about the origin of the name? When we first set foot on this property, we envisioned building our future cabin. As we sat amidst the freshly mowed field with our young children, we playfully asked them to suggest a name for our future retreat. Without missing a beat, my son exclaimed, "Let's name it Camp Buttcheek Smicklesmirk!" We erupted into laughter, and that moment became a cherished memory, deeply intertwined with our cabin. Nestled on 3.28 acres in rural PA, this snug cabin comfortably accommodates six guests and offers a serene escape from everyday life. Unplugged from WiFi, this retreat encourages genuine connections and tranquility. The quaint kitchen is equipped with a sink, refrigerator, portable electric cooktop, microwave, and toaster oven. Essential kitchenware is thoughtfully provided for your convenience. The living room/bedroom combo offers a couch, chair, coffee/end tables, and 2 bunk beds for sleeping. A TV with DVD player and board games have been provided for rainy/cold days. The cabin features electric heating, air conditioning, a full bathroom with a shower, and pure well water. Outside, guests can enjoy a cozy fire pit, a welcoming picnic table, and gentle outdoor lighting to enhance the peaceful and romantic ambiance. Keep your eyes open and binoculars and cameras ready. We are regularly visited by deer, foxes, bears, and bald eagles. A small trail off the field takes you back to a meandering stream to cool your feet, skip rocks, or catch crayfish and other critters. Forget something? Make a quick half-mile trek down the road to Myrna’s Mercantile. This small shop sells essential grocery items and also makes a wonderful hot breakfast. Hours are limited, so check before you go. If you need more than essentials, a 5 minute drive into the town of Smethport, PA will provide you with access to a full grocery store, beer distributor, restaurants and banks. Situated in South-West McKean County, the cabin is a brief drive from the historic Kinzua Bridge State Park, where an array of outdoor adventures and stunning vistas await. A short distance beyond lies the Allegheny Reservoir and Allegheny National Forest, offering a plethora of activities including boating, hiking, scenic drives, picnicking, fishing, and more. For those eager to explore further afield, the Zippo/Case Museum in Bradford, PA, the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum along Rt. 6 in Potter County, and the breathtaking PA Grand Canyon in Wellsboro, PA are all easily accessible. Forest glamping in Allegheny Reservoir guide

Overview

Spanning more than 12,000 acres across New York and Pennsylvania, the reservoir, along with the surrounding Allegany State Park, Allegany Reservation, and the Allegheny National Forest, form one of the largest outdoor recreation complexes in the northeast. It’s a prime destination for water recreation, including swimming, paddling, boating, fishing, and flat water windsurfing, while hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling trails surround the area. Numerous camping options let you camp waterside, in the backcountry, or in the woods, and span primitive tent-only sites, RV sites with hookup, rustic cabins, and cozy cottages.

Where to go

Allegany State Park

On the north end of the reservoir, Allegany State Park offers 65,000 acres of rare, old growth forest, two lakes, and rugged terrain with plenty of trails for hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. Two developed areas—Quaker and Red House—offer more than 300 campsites, 350 cabins (142 winterized), and eight cottages. Amenities include swim beaches, playgrounds, playing fields, boat and bike rentals, and boat launches. Just west of the state park, in the Enchanted Mountains of New York, Onoville Marina Park offers nearly 100 seasonal and transient camping sites, some right along the shores of the reservoir.

Allegany Indian Reservation

The northwestern part of the reservoir is surrounded by the Allegany Reservation of the Seneca Nation of Indians, which also includes several towns, the city of Salamanca, and the Seneca-Allegany Casino. Campers can stay at the Highbanks Campground, across the reservoir from Allegany State Park’s Quaker Area. Options include tent sites and RV sites with water and 30-amp electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire pits, along with spacious cabins and chalets, and amenities that include a boat launch, pool, picnic areas, and playground.

Allegheny National Forest

A mecca for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, the forest features 10 developed campgrounds. Willow Bay, Dewdrop, Kiasutha, and Red Bridge are the closest to the reservoir, and together offer more than 400 tent sites, RV sites, and rustic cabins. Most sites include picnic tables and fire rings, while many RV sites offer hookups and a dump station. For the best views, book a waterfront site or stay at a boat-in campground, such as Hopewell, Pine Grove, or Hooks Brook. With more than 500,000 acres, there’s plenty of space for dispersed camping.
