Country Cabin

1 site · Lodging2 acres · Youngsville, PA
The cabin is located on my now husband's family property. They raise beef cattle, corn, oats, and hay, and have owned the land since the 1930s. Our hilltop is beautiful, but we may be biased! It is generally quiet and we have wonderful sunrises and sunsets. We are thrilled to share our corner of the world with you!Learn more about this land:Step away and enjoy an unplugged weekend at the Country Cabin! The one-room cabin has a double bed, (linens provided), and table and chairs. The view from the porch overlooks agricultural land and it's not rare to see deer grazing near sunset. Relax by the fire or explore the adjacent PA State Game Lands on foot or bike. Boat and fish the Allegheny River that's a short drive from the cabin.  The cabin does not have electricity or running water. Firewood, indoor heat, electric lanterns, and an outhouse are available for guest use. Minimal AT&T and Verizon cell service. In winter an AWD or 4WD vehicle is recommended to access the cabin.

Goodschoolfarm

*On July 10th Goodschoolfarm was hit by a tornado. The campers are intact but we have a ton of tree clean up to do. We will take this message down when we reopen for booking. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to hosting you soon! Feel free to message me if you have any questions. -Chris* We are a former homestead with a swimming pond, two beautiful art campers and camp spots. We are on the wild Chautauqua Ridge with trails in the woods, abundant wildlife, and are located near many places to explore: Lake Erie, Amish trail, excellent fishing, local farms, and beautiful hiking. We are on a dirt road very secluded and quiet but not far away from main traveling routes. The two campers are custom built and decorated by artists, very comfortable unheated glamping accommodations. There is one gravel pull off site for a small RV or camper van, and the rest of the sites are dispersed camp sites. We have delicious spring water for you fill up and enjoy at the farmhouse, with no running water at the sites. Toilets are primitive, and we can provide firewood on request. Ask us about things to do and places to explore in WNY, we are happy to point you towards a fun and unique adventure. Summers in WNY are wonderful! We plan to be open in May through roughly October. We are happy to advise you on weather conditions during the late spring and early fall.

Glamping in Chautauqua Lake guide

Overview

Set in western New York and surrounded by several state forests, Chautauqua Lake stretches for 17 miles. A popular lake getaway in the summer, visitors flock here to go swimming, fishing, paddling, and boating. Several lakeside parks and charming towns can be found around the lake, including “home of comedy” Jamestown, Chautauqua, Mayville, and Bemus Point. Also nearby is Lake Erie, one of the great lakes. In winter, ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling are popular, along with downhill skiing in nearby ski resorts.

Where to go

South Shore

Located near the southeast end of the lake, Jamestown is home to a lively performing arts scene, along with the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum, the National Comedy Center, and Audubon Nature Center. You can camp along the lakeshore and find options for tents and large RVs with full hookups and cabins, plus plenty of amenities.

West Shore

The town of Chautauqua is the home of the Chautauqua Institution, a renowned cultural and performing arts venue. Tucked away in a secluded wooded area just south of the town is Camp Prendergast, which offers tent sites and RV sites with full hookups and amenities like a swimming pool.

East Shore

At the town of Bemus Point, Long Point State Park juts out into the lake and offers a modern boat launch, fishing dock, pavilions, and several trails. Just north, one of the oldest amusement parks in the country can be found at Midway State Park. The only bridge across the lake can also be found here, connecting to Stow on the western shore of the lake.

North Shore

The county seat of Mayville can be found at the northern end of the lake. Continue north and you’ll hit Lake Erie, with plenty of options for enjoying the water, and more than 20 wineries. Lake Erie State Park offers easy lake access and a campground on a bluff overlooking the lake, and more than 100 tent and RV campsites and cabins. Further south along the shore, Evangola State Park is another option, while several private campgrounds sit right along the shores of Lake Erie.
