Make a coastal cabin your base for exploring the scenic South Coast.
Set on Oregon's South Coast, Coos Bay is a popular spot for crabbing and clamming. It's also the largest city on the Oregon Coast, making it a good base if you want easy access to restaurants, shops, and other amenities. Nearby attractions include the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area—popular among ATVers—and Cape Arago State Park, a day-use spot known for its gorgeous views and fantastic tidepools. While many state park campgrounds in the area have yurts for rent, the only nearby state park with cabins is Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in Reedsport. Fortunately, there are plenty of privately owned cabins for rent near Coos Bay, both in coastal areas and slightly inland, and many with full kitchens, queen beds, space heaters, and free wifi.. While the Oregon Coast is beautiful no matter the season, the best time to visit is from July through September, when the weather is most likely to be pleasant and dry.
