Big Rock Ranch

2 sites · Lodging30 acres · Terrebonne, OR
Nathaniel and Raina Potter purchased this 30-acre ranch in 2016 and aptly named it "Big Rock Ranch." The modest ranch layout with the wildly immodest views of a giant rock outcropping jutting out of coyote butte was the immediate draw and continual wonder to Nathaniel, Raina, and all who visit. Big Rock Ranch runs cattle in the irrigated pastures and raises sheep and chickens for meat and eggs.Stay at Big Rock Ranch...Stay in a 12x14 ft canvas tent on a working regenerative family farm in the high desert. Enjoy views of a 300+ ft Tuff rock formation, Cascade Mountains, and irrigated pasture views all from the tent. Cook your own meals in the outdoor kitchen, outfitted with propane burners and a sink. Eat meals from the tent deck or the picnic table under native junipers surrounded by sagebrush, bitterbrush, and native grasses and tuff boulders. Collect farm fresh eggs and greens seasonally with the opportunity to enjoy meat raised at the ranch. One queen bed in a canvas tent, one folding cot, and access to a 2-person tent if needed to accommodate a family or two couples. Bedding is NOT supplied beyond the queen bed. Recreation Activities: Limited hiking available onsite but only 8 minutes from Smith Rock State Park for hiking and climbing. Only 25 minutes from Lake Billy Chinook for water recreating. Just 15 minutes from mountain biking at Skull Hollow. A 10-minute drive to swimming in the Deschutes River at Borden Beck Wildlife Preserve. Bend and Sisters are both 30-minutes away. Night rates are offerings to our family and ranch.

Tom's Rest Canyon Retreat Center

5 sites · RVs, Tents20 acres · OR
TOM'S REST was created by Tom's wife Cheryl in an effort to carry out their plans to provide respite for those in need. Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others. Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years. Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew. This process, while overwhelming, has brought some healing and it is our hope to continue that healing for others in need from life's many trials. We continue to use our funds to promote healing in grief and other trials of life. We would appreciate hearing from those that have anything to contribute in way of maintenance and housekeeping, services to provide those in need such as massage or counseling, or any other contributions you are led to give. We are developing a list of volunteers to be called upon when someone in need is referred to us and will keep you informed as things develop. Anyone having a grief, widows/widowers, caregiver, cancer, hospice or other group that would like to have their group listed should message us as well. These respite visits are short getaways to refuel and support individuals during tough times. Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will be ministering to those in need through your paid visits here and hopefully, gain some needed respite of your own. We have taken every precaution for distancing and cleanliness with the ever changing Covid policies for your safety and concerns. Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired. My deepest thanks to all who have stood alongside through this journey and continue to do so. May we collectively create TOM'S REST with Tom's intention and the passion he infused in us to carry it through to fulfillment.

The Dirt E Moor

1 site · RV, Tent2 acres · Grass Valley, OR
As you come down the highway, rolling into Grass Valley, you slowly realize you are driving through not just a different town but frame of mind. As a community of farmers and ranchers we move at a different pace. Here at The Dirt E Moor, we want you to be able to experience a piece of that. My partner has grown up in the area, traveled the world, and at the end of it, decided this is where he wanted to raise his family. His parents run the town store, built around 1903. Our children have dug and played in the creek. Bringing in treasures they have found like old horseshoes from where the blacksmith was located. At The Dirt E Moor we have embraced the pioneer spirit and adapted to our climate. We do have all 4 seasons. In the Spring you might just catch me putting in new vegetables beds in the garden, we could have lambs begging for pets, or a new litter of barn kittens running around. Summer will have the working dogs looking for the shady cool spots, the ducks quacking in the sprinkler and bees buzzing in the flowers. Fall will see the cool evening and leaves falling like potato chips, last minute treats stolen by the ewes. And in Winter there is a great peace in laying in a warm blanket watching the snow fall.Learn more about this land:The DirtEMoor is a 2 acre hobby farm located  on the edge of a small town in North Central Oregon. Your campsite is located next to a seasonal creek on the North East corner of the DirtEmoor with easy access parking next to site. Grass Valley is often used as a Base-Camp for Hunters, Fisherpeople, Rafters, Racecar Drivers, Rockhounds, Hikers, Bikers and Skiers to explore our 3 locals rivers (Deschutes, John Day or Columbia), or our acres of BLM land, mountains and public river trails. We have quite mornings, breathless sunsets, starry nights and everything else in-between.

Deschutes Riverview Campground

1 site · RV5 acres · OR
Our McLucas family has been operating The Oasis, which has consisted of, at various times, a cafe, historic cabins, a campground, a fishing guide service, a shuttle business and t-shirt shop over the past 65 years.  In 2019 we sold the cafe and cabins to a new family to carry on, but we kept the parcel of land overlooking the Deschutes River where we have operated a campground for many years.Oasis Riverview Campground has operated during the months of July and August, primarily, giving RV's and tent campers a place to land during the busy months here in Maupin when the fishing and whitewater rafting are at their peak and the campsites along the river (managed by the BLM) were not adequate to host all visitors to the area.We are transitioning from a tent camping site to a site only for self-contained RV's or groups willing to have their own toilets brought in.

OtterLodge

1 site · Lodging52 acres · Sisters, OR
************HAVE A DOG WHO'S AFRAID OF FIREWORKS? Dogs are allowed here, and I've heard a total of one firework in the eleven years I've lived here. So, while I can make no guarantees, I can tell you that there's no better place I've found to keep my dogs out of the fray on the Fourth of July!******************** Now, back to our regular programming: OtterLodge lies at the end of the road, on the rim of beautiful Whychus Creek Canyon. The property is surrounded by 60-acre Aspen Hollow nature preserve to the north, 40 unoccupied private acres to the south, and 40 acres of conservation easement to the west--so we're surrounded here by of over a hundred acres of nature. One of only three Golden Eagle cams in the world is located on this property. (The other two are in Europe. The website is www.GoldenEagleCam.org, and the camera streams from mid-February when the eggs are laid, to early June, when the babies fledge.) Other animals I've seen here: wild turkey, deer, Western Lynx, and mountain lion (don't worry--they're shy!). There are beaver and otters in the nature preserve to the north, and I recently had to pause as I was driving out to let a stampede of elk pass over the driveway! Imagine being able to enjoy all that from the comfort of your own Happier Camper modern retro travel trailer! There's a big, comfy bed, and a kitchen (see pics for details). There's wifi available in the trailer--but if you'd prefer to go on a digital diet while you're here, I can withhold the password if you'd like! ;-) There's no bathroom in the trailer, but you will have access to the bathroom in the shop about 100 paces away. Like most shop bathrooms, it's nothing fancy--but it does have a flush toilet, hot and cold running water, and a shower. Other amenities include a climbing rock, horseshoe pits, short (1-2 mile) hikes out the door, excellent star-gazing (very little light pollution), and several benches/chairs/tables set up around the place to take in the views. If you brought bikes and want to bike to town, it's about 8 miles via the scenic bike route (or a 6.7 mile drive via the highway). A WORD ABOUT DOGS--BOTH MINE AND YOURS. It's dog heaven out here, and dogs are quite welcome, provided they get along well with other dogs, of whom there are currently four in residence. Your area is not fenced (although I can provide up to 48 linear feet of portable dog pen, if you'd like), and my four are often with me around the property (i.e., PLEASE NOTE: not behind a fence). So please tell me BEFORE BOOKING if your dog does not get along well with other dogs (or if you or your children are afraid of or dislike dogs) and we can discuss the details, and see if we can work something out. If you book w/out discussing it first, please assume that (after an initial, supervised meet-the-dogs introduction shortly after your arrival) there will be dogs out and about on the property when I am at home. (If I leave the property, they will be put inside my house while I'm gone.) They range in size from 22 to 50 pounds, and range in age from 7-16 years old. All are people- and dog-friendly. Prolonged barking drives me nuts and is never allowed, so don't worry about having your peace or sleep disrupted! :-) Note: the trailer only has room for two adults; there is a queen bed, a small kitchen, and only a few square feet of open floor space. If you book for more than 2 people, you must provide a tent, bedding, and camp mats for those people. (Only exception would be a small, co-sleeping child.) There is a flat tent site just a few feet from the trailer.
