Glenada was incorporated in 1912 and disincorporated in 1922 after the town's sawmills burned. This side of the river was pretty bustling before the Siuslaw bridge was built in 1936, being quite a transformative event considering the ferry from Glenada to Florence was the main way across the river. River View is located up on Glenada mountain, on the upper level of our three-acre lot. We have a free-range farm atmosphere, with 2 children, 2 large dogs, a cat, and 12 chickens. We allow Hip Campers to bring animals on the property with the understanding that they are good around children and other animals, as our kids and pets are often running around the land. We have firewood bundles and farm-fresh eggs available for additional fees. THERE IS NO TOILET on the property. This is not a tent camping site unless you have your own porta-potty set up. This is a beautiful rustic property close enough to Hwy 101 to be convenient but far enough away to enjoy all the wildlife the Siuslaw River has to offer. Bird watching at its finest! We have also had a bear that passes through, so beware of leaving food out. There are plenty of places to hike and visit nearby dunes, rivers, lakes, parks, and the ocean. Enjoy Florence's amazing food (ask the host for her favorites). Walk down to Old Town for dinner or bring back take-out and eat it in the tiny house (no electricity or running water). Take a short walk to Pricket state park for clamming or just relax with a book and feel the breeze off the river. Whatever you enjoy, we’re sure you can find something close by! No bathroom or running water but there are 2 electrical plugs (110V and 220V) available.

Enjoy the sounds of the babbling brook just below the site, and the sound of the waves crashing at the nearby beach. A short 1/4 mile drive gets you to beach access and enjoying walking on some of the most beautiful coastline in the world. Convenient access to Hwy 101 makes this a great spot to explore from. Your campsite is 10 private acres surrounded by the rest of our 200 acres. You are welcome to hike, bike, forage, and enjoy the whole 200 acre forest. Your 10 acre campsite is private for you and your guests. So let your pets off the leash, laugh, play music, have fun! Your site comes with a propane bbq grill, fire pit, patio set, table and chairs. There is plenty of flat, open area to maneuver several RVs and place tents. It is open and grassy. Our driveway is quite long, but gets you to peaceful privacy. Our driveway is part gravel and partly dirt that we grade as needed. You can place your kayaks and small boats into the lake at our property. RVs, tents, boats, bicycles, horses and pets welcome. We have a small horse corral if requested. We have many unimproved roads to access our creeks, springs, ponds and lake or enjoy the deer paths. Our property has elderberry, blackberry, huckleberry, mulberry, thimbleberry, salmonberry, currants… mushrooms, many wild edible plants and wild life! Siltcoos Lake has 2 boat ramps, 1 restaurant, 1 bar, 1 store, and boat rentals. The restaurant/bar/store (Darlings) will deliver, by boat, to your campsite for $10 !!! $20 minimum as of 2022. Or drive/boat over to Darlings for their well known friendly atmosphere and great food served inside or on their heated deck! Sorry no ATV use on property at this time. Crabbing and fishing are centralized in Winchester Bay, about 10 minutes away. You are also located very near the mouth of the mighty Umpqua River, one of the best salmon fisheries in the state. Easy access to the coastal dunes is available up and down HWY 101 both North and South. Winchester Bay offers the closest entrance to the dunes where you can ride atvs and 4x4s and permits can be purchased in town. Stunning options for hiking, biking and mushroom hunting surround you here on the central Oregon Coast.
