Weekend Trip to Clarion Heights

This was our second time there, which should say something. It really turned in this place into a great spot to get away and to explore some of Pennsylvania’s Best. Incredibly friendly and caring hosts. My wife, son and I went there to be close to good fishing for opening day at Trout season. It rained nearly nonstop the entire time we were there. Yet, we still had a great time.

I showed up to 42 degrees and thunderstorms and Bill let me pay to switch into the treehouse. It was amazing!!! I would absolutely stop here again

Weekend Trip to Ferns in the Forest

We had a great weekend camping at the unique setting of Fairfield Farm. Bill and Erin were wonderful hosts. The farm fresh eggs they offer are great and the option of unlimited firewood takes the guesswork out of the equation. The grass airstrip with an old plane at the edge of the field with the mountains in the background make for great photos. We definitely recommend staying here, it’s peaceful and serene.

We loved our stay in the treehouse. It was a pretty cold night and we stayed plenty warm. The farm is beautiful, Erin and Bill were so sweet and helpful and super responsive. We felt very welcome and hope to come back soon!

The area was beautiful. Swatara Park has great hiking trails. Bathroom was very clean and heated (just a short walk down a hill). Plane definitely just for photos. Owners were very kind and accommodating to requests.

Weekend Trip to West Creek Campground

My wife and I stayed at the Dwellings at West Creek Campground, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The facilities were one of the cleanest I have ever seen throughout my entire life, and the host was very nice and flexible. The weekend we were there was very cold, so we ended up spending a lot of our time inside the shelter, but the experience was still amazing. Would definitely camp here again in the near future.

Weekend Trip to Ferns in the Forest

We had an incredible weekend getaway at Virgil and Pam's property. It was a lovely, cozy, quaint little cabin that was a perfect place to relax away from the city. We had planned to do some winter hiking and explore the area around Ohiopyle, which was very near to the cabin, but we ended up staying in all weekend (with the exception of a nice walk around the property) due to the weather. It did get very cold, but the cabin is equipped with multiple heaters and electric fireplaces that kept us warm. Virgil kindly checked in regularly and reminded us to turn on the heated blanket on the bed -- it made a huge difference in the night when it was snowy and windy! The kitchen has everything you need (hot plates, microwave, utensils, pots/pans, skillet) to make nice meals, and the gift basket was a very nice touch. :) Thank you Virgil and Pam for your hospitality!

Fantastic ! My partner and I just did a little 1 night stay here to get out of the city and it was so perfect. Beautiful property and Erin and will are incredibly helpful and responsive. I would highly recommend the unlimited package if it’s a cold night - we got a crap ton of firewood and used almost all of it as it was around 20 degrees. The hot tub was great, the views even better! Perfect for a peaceful little getaway. Will absolutely be coming back. Thanks Erin and Will!

5 nights at Fairview Farms Airfield

The entire experience was amazing! Extremely accommodating and helpful! One of my favorite spots! Thank you for allowing me to stay the weekend!

The views are beautiful, the farm is quiet, the animals are very happy and well taken care of. We loved walking around the farm and bonding with the animals. Please do plan accordingly because there is only one bathroom for everyone. No showers unless you stay at two cabins that have everything. We have a 33ft travel trailer so, not having access to a shower on the property wasn't a big deal. Overall it was a great experience, our first time staying at a farm and won't be the last!

3 nights at Fairview Farms Airfield

I love staying at Fairview Farms! The hosts always provide excellent service and really care about their visitors. They make sure that you have a great stay. This is the second time I have stayed here. The first time was at the airplane site. My family and I had such a great time! Was such a different campsite than we’ve ever been to. Better than the ordinary campground site. Over the past few days, we’ve been camping at the rustic tent site. We loved the wood burning stove and the cool family-size tent. Offers beautiful views, thousands of stars at night, fresh country air and tons of family memories. Have been recommending to all of my friends. My family can’t wait to go back! Thanks Bill and Erin!

It was easy to find, and beautiful, once it stoped raining! I’m definitely going to go back and camp again sadly I didn’t have time to make a fire but the owners meet me at the entrance and showed me were the campground was! Can’t wait to go back!

My partner and I stayed here to watch a meteor shower, and we had the best time! Bill met us on the drive in and showed us to our spot. He helpfully suggested that we get the unlimited wood upgrade, which ended up being exactly what we needed. It got down to 14 degrees at night and we still stayed toasty with the stove. The full bed was very comfortable for two, and could fit our two sleeping bags easily. The views were incredible and the sky was clear enough that we saw so many meteors. The bathroom was clean and warm, and a short drive away. We will definitely be back.

Fairview Farms Airfield

The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. We appreciate your understanding that some areas are used for our personal / farm storage. If you're not into looking at our farmware, there are a few nearby campgrounds. The hot tub is located next to the owner's home. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby. Miles of hiking, rail trail, single-track mountain biking, and kayaking are all right here! See our kayak and bike rentals under extras! Hershey Park is approximately a 30-minute drive from our location. Rausch Creek, Anthracite, and Reading off-road areas are also nearby. Note: Monthly rental discounts are available. Ferns in the Forest

Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to the beginning of October and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail.

The canvas tent sleeps 4 but feel free to pitch another tent (or rent one of ours) for additional sleeping space.
