1797 Farm

Located in the heart of Chester County, few locations offer so many things to see and do. Some of the loveliest creations of man or nature are nearby The cottage is on a 70 acre country estate (circa. 1797). See Longwood Gardins and many other world famous nearby places. Learn more about this land:Chester County was rated as the sixth most desirable County  to raise a family in the United States. Relax, there are no animals that want to eat you nor poisonous creatures to kill you. Bird watcher's heaven where John Audubon was inspired by rolling hills and friendly forests containing walking trails and babbling brooks. Moss, ferns, mushrooms, and a huge variety of tree species make their home here. The weather is temperate and mostly sunny and there are dozens of things to see made by man or nature, all within less than an hours drive. Many stores and locations of interest are within bicycle distance. History & Art abound and world famous Longwood Gardens is nearby. Notable industrialists  like Sun oil  , Ludens, Carnation, Dodge and Safeguard are just a few who made this their home. The farm cottage is surrounded by over 2000 acres containing walking paths and horse trails, and even an Indian chipping ground where flint arrow heads and other Indian implements were made.

Scenic Turtle Ridge

Turtle Ridge farm is 35 acres of scenic beauty in historic Chester County, Pennsylvania. Secluded and private. Hiking and fishing available. Turtle Ridge Farms borders the Brandywine River and about 1,000 acres of  woodland park. We try to be a unique host farm experience.

We will have contactless check in available upon arrival. Campers will fill out the registration form on the front porch and then go to their site.

A note about fishing. Fishing is available in the Brandywine River behind our farm, in Hibernia Park, at Springton Manor catch and release pond, and also at Chambers Lake in the park. 

35-acre bucolic farm with goats, sheep, chickens and geese. Sites are near our one acre pond and each site has a fire pit. Our farm borders the 1,000-acre Hibernia Park with its historic mansion, extensive woodlands, hiking trails and along the beautiful Brandywine river. Lots of wooded areas, trails, rock outcroppings and beautiful scenery. The entrance to the park is through our farm gate near Site 2 and then down a trail.

There is an indoor powder room with flushing toilet and sink for campers to use and a small camp shop. Wood is available for purchase. We are located 
5 minutes from the hospital, 10 minutes from grocery stores, 30 minutes to Amish country and Longwood Gardens. Hopewell Furnace, St. Peter's village, Daniel Boone homestead, Historic Springton Manor, Marsh Creek Park and lake are all nearby.

Children age three and under are free. Children age four and up must register and pay as campers. All children must be supervised at all times and kept quiet from 10 pm to 8 am. Shellbark Hollow Farm sits in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania and makes award-winning artisan goat cheeses from our own herd of purebred Nubian goats. Three wooded campsites, one field edge campsite, off-grid camping in the woods available.  Woods with some trails, stream that requires off-grid hiking to get to stream. Surrounded by acres of woods and farmland, two county parks and lakes within minutes away for fishing, kayaking,  trails, etc. French Creek and Valley Forge State Park within a half hour drive. Breweries, wineries and distilleries close-by.  Educational farm activities offered to enhance a true working dairy/cheese producing farm experience. Four adults, two children more be allowed with approval from host.  2 tent limit per sight. Site 11 and 12 are for large groups and events. Site three RVs and campers will have to back in.

PLEASE NOTE:  For this spring/early summer, we will only have one site available, due to some ongoing projects on our land. Early spring bookings may not have as much privacy, due to the trees not growing in yet. Please read full listing for a description of our property and what to expect in this suburban oasis. 

We purchased our dream homestead in 2020, and we would love to share it with others as we build it to become bountiful and as self-sustaining as possible.

 It is not in the middle of nowhere....it's in the middle of everywhere!

Camp next to a peaceful trickling creek just outside Phoenixville and Kimberton. We are a suburban oasis, surrounded by a little bit of everything.  Our homestead has plenty of activity including kids, dogs, and chickens, bees and goats!  We have a fully wooded area available to explore across the creek, and weather dependent- the creek is a great place to stay cool. You'll see lots of growing fruit trees in our developing orchard and we are happy to share our vision for this beautiful land! 

We have a cabin-like bathroom and partial kitchen you will have access to during your stay. We always have cold water available for purchase in the fridge. There is trail access easily accessible from our home (the closest is approximately 1 mile), for paved or natural trail exploration. We are are a great stopping point for cyclists enjoying the area. 

It's a short drive to downtown Phoenixville with some of the best breweries around. Phoenixville is home to a great farmers market on Saturday mornings and numerous festivals.  Also, close-by is the lovely quaint village of Kimberton, home of the best organic grocery store and many opportunities for hiking and small farms.

You have access to the poolhouse for the bathroom and kitchenette (you do NOT have access to the pool)

Creekside Grill

Enjoy the 8 acres of Stillwater behind  the Olde Motonville Mill. Swimming tubing fishing and boating night or day is always adventurous. Bring your own boats or used two of ours. Beer garden with free entry live music and food trucks every Sunday at our main park. Brothers Kershner brewery hosts Brothers on the Brandywine. Sundays 1 to 7pm
