Weekend Trip to Kitchen Girl Farm

I loved camping at Kitchen Girl Farm. It is stunning out there. We stayed at the site next to the barn and used the grill and got to hang out by the blooming daffodils. In the morning we woke up and made coffee and went on a little walk around the property. It was so peaceful and the historic barn is so beautiful. Such a pleasant stay so close to Baltimore but you feel so tucked away in the country.

2 nights at Circle S Farm Camping

We stayed 2 nights and loved it. It was easy to get too from the highway. The area really is beautiful. We stayed at site 1. The 3 sites are near their beautiful horse, he came to the fence when we came outside and we could watch him through our back window. Stephen and Abby were wonderful hosts. We had a really rough time with our new tires on the way down and had to have work done while we were there. Could’ve really ruined this leg of our trip but Stephen and Abby were so nice and helpful. They made us feel like old friends. Abby brought me to meet her free range chickens, they were so sweet. I got to feed them. Then went on what Abby calls an “Easter egg” hunt to find the eggs and was able to keep them. They were the highlight of our trip. We will be returning for sure

Weekend Trip to Camp Douglass - Schuylkill River

This place is a fantastic river side get away. The trail is a little tight so if you are bringing a bigger truck either have a spotter or be experienced. The host is very nice and approachable, the site is covered with mulch and is a very nice touch. Great little fishing spot of weekend getaway. We cannot wait to return.

Weekend Trip to Peace & Quiet by the River!

This was our second trip to this campsite and it will not be our last. Perfect spot to check out if you enjoy trout fishing or need a large area to spread out with the family. Going to try to go back again this year!

Great property and friendly hosts! The chapel was beautiful and cozy and we went on a run on one of the nearby trials. Really fun stay!

Weekend Trip to Scenic Turtle Ridge

Plenty of free, fallen branches for firewood. Great access to Hibernia park trail. Bathroom was nice and clean and well supplied. Be aware the driveway will be challenging for cars with poor ground clearance.

Weekend Trip to Maple Grove Farms

We loved camping at this peaceful site. The view of the 5 acre lake was wonderful. I was delighted by all the extra at the site like chairs around the stone fire pit, wood, fishing rods, dog tie out, garbage can and more. The porta potty was better than most. I loved the extra touch of the hanging lights and solar lanterns around the sight. The flock of geese that followed us as we walked our dogs around the lake were a bonus treat. The host Faoth was quick to answer any questions. Definitely a top stay on our list.

Weekend Trip to Laureleye Farms

It was great camping inside this old and charming hundreds year old cottage. The space is pretty large, and has a wood burning stove that keeps the inside warm. The property is beautiful with rolling hills and meadows, horses, woods, and a beautiful creek right behind the cottage. If you want to get into nature in a historical way this is the place for you. Also the area is filled with small historic towns and feels secluded but not very remote, so you can be in town in 10-15 minutes. Would recommend and would visit again.

Great communication. Nice property. Was grateful for 30 amp connection! Only stayed for the night passing through while I was heading back home. Felt safe, which as a single woman traveling alone, is very important! Would recommend and will use again if I'm in that area.

Weekend Trip to Fairview Farms Airfield

We had a great weekend camping at the unique setting of Fairfield Farm. Bill and Erin were wonderful hosts. The farm fresh eggs they offer are great and the option of unlimited firewood takes the guesswork out of the equation. The grass airstrip with an old plane at the edge of the field with the mountains in the background make for great photos. We definitely recommend staying here, it’s peaceful and serene.

We had a fantastic experience once again at Scenic Turtle Ridge, thank you to Tom for hosting as always. This was our second stay but at a different site. The weather was bit chilly, slight rain at night, and kept clear for the remainder of our stay. Site 2 is excellent for 4 tents and the fire pit was perfect to keep us all warm throughout the day and night.

Elmlock Acres Camping on the Canal

Elmlock was named by MJ's Grandfather for the majestic Elm trees that once graced the property and banks of the Tulpehocken Stream passing through the Union Canal lock. These beautiful trees were devastated by the Dutch Elm Disease in the early 20th century. Elmlock and the surrounding area was surveyed by non other than George Washington as plans were formulating to build a canal system to join the Schuylkill and Susquehanna Rivers. The General stayed with his friend Captain Michael Lei on the adjacent farm, once known as the Tulpehocken Manor when visiting the area. The ruins of one of the canal locks remains on the Elmlock property adjacent to the camping area. The 1838 stone farmhouse was built by the Spengler family and acquired by MJ's Grandfather in 1913. MJ's pottery studio is a local "Town Barn" that was relocated piece by piece to Elmlock by MJ"s brother, a Historic Restoration Specialist, in 1974. He also restored the Bake Oven on the property's Summer Kitchen. Our property features an historic canal lock from 1828 Union Canal and a stream that runs through it. There is a RR track that runs just south of our camp about 10acres away For campers who love to watch or hear trains you'll have plenty of opportunity to do so! You can enjoy fishing and playing in the water, which is fresh, clean limestone water from a nearby quarry. We also have two small goats on the property. Farm land surrounds the property, wooded area and cattle nearby. This is a secluded property but less than a mile from Rt 422. You can bike along the many back roads nearby! We also offer pottery classes, drawing classes, painting classes, and also Medicinal wild plants walk etc. for an additional fee. See our extras below if you are interested! Historic places to visit and only 20 miles from HersheyPark. Also we are only 15-20 min from the Historic Appalachian Trail! Enjoy 8 beautiful, secluded acres on the Conewago Creek at Bald Hill, Northern York Co. My homestead was once part of the Conewago Turf Farm. It borders the creek a length of 1100 feet, mostly maintained with easy access. Camp is at the base of a steep section of the Conewago Mountains, creating privacy and protection from wind and afternoon sun. This is not a whole house rental. Note: For the winter months we are closed, we reopen in march. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months. We close when hunting season comes in during the fall. Description of camp: This is not a glampsite! There are limited utilities here. No Drinking water, just water for the fire. There is a self serve firewood store, you may also forage dead wood. Here only one group may camp at a time. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres of woods. There is stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service. The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor showerroom/changing room, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. The woods are hilly so biking is not recomended. On the property we have 2+ miles of hiking trails. PLEASE feel free to contact us for any questions. Also please look at our pictures for a better idea of what we offer. Nearby Activities: A short drive from here will take you to Gettysburg, York, or Hanover. Codorus park offers great hiking and is next to a lake. There are many excellent restaurants and brewpubs nearby, including the award winning Warehouse Gourmet Bistro and Brewpub. Campsite #3 (High Site) Site 3 is above the river and looks over Hawk Mountain and the farm. It is private with beautiful views. Unreal full moon gazing............. Sunrise, Sunset, Moon rise, Bird watching, all very visible from this site. Car accessible, no walking to campsite required. At all sites, different seasons bring different activities. Spring: Kayaking, fishing and hiking. Summer: hiking, fishing in the pond, cooling off in the swim hole. Fall: raptor watching, hiking, biking plus fishing, (license required), in the Little Schuylkill. The nights are dark with star lit skies. The camp sites on our farm are dry (for now) but we DO have a toilet that is cleaned regularly right by the sites. We have three leveled gravel RV/Camper spots, which are large compared to most campgrounds. The sites are pull through for most RVs and Trailers. We provide fire rings and campfire wood (assuming we have it available). Our farm is an operational farm with livestock and you will be camping right by our horse pasture. Our location is convenient. We are right off of I-81 and State route 22. Minutes from Hersheypark, Hollywood Casino and Penn National Race Course, The PA Renaissance Faire, as well as Ft. Indiantown Gap and Memorial Lake State Park. If you are a hiker, the Appalachian Trail is minutes from our farm. Our sites are easy access off the main road. We are in a friendly agricultural neighborhood with very little traffic or noise other than the light hum of I-81 in the distance. Wildlife is plentiful in our area and you can hike from our farm to Levitz Community Park (or drive if you prefer) to interact some great nature or have a picnic.
