Rustic tent sites and log cabins on nearly 400 acres nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. The property has been in our family since the late 1800's, initially operating as an ochre mill. We are near the historic town of Jim Thorpe, Whitewater Rafting Adventures, Hickory Run State Park, Lehigh Gorge State Park, Tuscarora State Park, and more. ***PLEASE READ BELOW AND READ EACH SITE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING*** - Our tent sites are rustic with NO electric or running water. Cabins have electric, but no indoor plumbing. Porta-Johns are available throughout the grounds. (Some sites are closer to port-a-johns than others.) We do not provide potable water or showers for tent campers but we allow responsible use of the stream for cleaning. Cabins have a rustic outdoor shower available May-October. Please inquire for camper vans and pop ups. - FIREWOOD: Due to the threat of invasive pests, we do not allow firewood to be transported onto the grounds. We have firewood for sale for $7 per crate. You can pick and crate your wood at the wood pile on the grounds at your convenience. Please bring cash if possible or get in touch at the end of your stay to pay via Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle. -We have a variety of wildlife in the area, including BLACK BEARS. Please follow 'Leave No Trace' protocols and be mindful of trash and food throughout your stay. Keep your coolers in your vehicles and take garbage to the dumpster frequently. We have a dumpster available to you on the grounds. -Check in is contactless. Upon booking, you will receive directions to your site. **If you would like to stay for one night during the week or one night on a weekend during November-April, please get in touch and I can adjust the booking specifications. This cabin has been in my family for over 40 years, and we love to share it's charm with the world! Sleep like a log in our one-room charming cabin on a small private lake lot with non-motor boats only. Little Elk Lake is 43 acres. Queen bed with linens provided, plus 2 adult cots with pads and sleeping bags. Rowboat plus 1 youth kayak, two adult kayaks and a canoe are available for your use, and we have life jackets in many sizes. We are sorry but the pontoon boat cannot be used by guests. The fishing is EXCELLENT and bring your binoculars - BALD EAGLES frequent the lake! We want you to have so much FUN during your visit, but we are not a party spot. The lake is rural and quiet, and so we must request low noise levels after 10 pm in order to keep our neighborhood HAPPY! :) We welcome everyone, including the LGBQT community and folks from all ethnicities. You'll feel like you are coming home to a safe haven and all guests will be treated with kindness and respect here at Sunset Shore! Don't waste one moment of lake time! GROCERY, PHARMACY and EVEN HOMEGOODS delivery is available. Our local large grocery chain Price Chopper, Rite Aid and Family Dollar all deliver to the cabin. The name of the app is INSTACART. Journey's End Farm is a small family farm offering a diverse selection of ecologically grown vegetables, maple syrup, and free-range eggs. Everything that we sell is grown or produced on-site with the intention of nurturing the soil and ecology of the land. From 1939-2020 our family ran a summer sleep-away camp for children on the farm, with an emphasis on caring for each other and the land. Located in a small valley at 1400 feet of elevation, our fields and woods are home to a broad diversity of native plants and animals. Our family has been caring for this land since 1926, but before European colonization it was home to the Lenape people from whom it was forcibly taken. Acknowledging this fact and working to expand awareness of Indigenous cultures and their rights is important to us. While at the farm, besides the amenities listed in each listing, you are welcome to hike or walk around and explore our farm which has many acres of woodland, creeks, springs, a pond, and open fields. A hot day is a great time for a walk along - or in - the creek. A rainy day brings out the Red Efts - beautiful orange newts that are all over the woods when you know where to look. We're always glad to point you in the right direction for a nice walk or a longer hike. You may be able to tag along collecting eggs from the hens or feeding some of the other animals we may have.
