Weekend Trip to Camp Douglass - Schuylkill River

This place is a fantastic river side get away. The trail is a little tight so if you are bringing a bigger truck either have a spotter or be experienced. The host is very nice and approachable, the site is covered with mulch and is a very nice touch. Great little fishing spot of weekend getaway. We cannot wait to return.

This was our second trip to this campsite and it will not be our last. Perfect spot to check out if you enjoy trout fishing or need a large area to spread out with the family. Going to try to go back again this year!

Weekend Trip to FernRock Retreat

My bf and I had a great time staying at Sandy and John’s cabin! They were very welcoming along with their dog. Got to see beavers swimming in their stream from the cabin window. Feed the goats and chickens. Would definitely stay again!

3 nights at FernRock Retreat

The hosts are very kind, accommodating, and communicative. The cabin felt loved and was clean and comfortable. It even had some basic cooking equipment, and plenty of sleeping spots and firewood. The property also features kayaks, a treehouse, and a walking trail in the nearby woods. I would recommend Fern Rock Campground for any group or occasion, anyone looking to reconnect with nature, and a pair of good boots for the trail. 10/10 would HipCamp again!

Can't wait to go back! The grounds were great and well labeled. Accurate description of the site. There is a dirt road leading to the site. Our host greeted us and explained the trails on the property. We did the waterfall hike and pond, we saw a river otter. The host was so friendly and helpful. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. Our dog loved all the smells of the woods.

What a beautiful place, lots of peace and quiet and incredible views everywhere you look. Susan and Jenn are fantastic hosts, I’ll certainly be back!

My partner and I love camping and we had a great time camping here to celebrate his 30th birthday. The views from Site 3 are beautiful overlooking the farm and mountains, you get a pretty great view of the sunset! A short walk to the river as well. The peace and energy here was really refueling, a lot more private than other campsites we’ve been to. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating when we needed to check out a bit later bc of our car battery dying. Definitely recommend and will be returning!

Excellent location for its proximity to busy areas of NJ and NY. One hour drive from when I live in central NJ and had a great night camping. The grounds were taken care of and there are great short trails to walk. Even a nice stream with a small waterfall.

I had camp 6. It was my first time camping. I pulled my car right up to the campsite and had a campfire from right outside my car. Was quiet and serene. I enjoyed looking at all the signs on the trees.

Paradise Valley is a great spot to get away, without having to drive for hours. You are in the woods enjoying nature and beautiful surroundings, but not too far from the outside world, if you need anything. All of the sites are level for at least 2 tents and each is unique. Kathleen is a fantastic host. Accomodating and always available to answer any questions you might have. #devitoapproved

The campsite is nestled on a wooded knoll alongside Pohopoco Creek. Featuring a 10' x 12' canvas tent erected on a wooden platform, furnished with a queen-size futon mattress atop a bed frame, we provide essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Guests can expect a battery-operated sprayer for rinsing off, battery-operated lanterns, tiki torches, a small charcoal grill, charcoal, lighter fluid, fire starter, and the first night's firewood. Always working on improvements! My second glamping site "The Medieval Encampment", is available for booking starting April 1st of 2025. I will have more pictures soon. In April of 2024, my long awaited 1st Glamping site was available for booking. It's been very popular! Please read the description carefully of the "Gypsy Rose Vardo", to see if it's the right fit for you. I also have 10 large camping sites available on our 33 acre property located in Northwest NJ. Sites 1 through 4 are on mowed, fairly level fields and are large enough for campers or RV's up to 30ft, or a couple of tents, and sites 5 and 6 are further back in the woods, available only for a few small tents, sites 7 through 10 are much further into the property and are only accessible with a high clearance AWD or 4WD SUV or you can park and hike your gear in. There are 3 compost toilet outhouses spread out through the property, so it's an easy walking distance from any site. Although we are only 2 1/2 miles from a main highway, the last 2 miles are on a dirt road with no houses. We are surrounded by protected land, so no neighbors and lots of wildlife, including the occasional bear, coyote or raccoon. Keep all food items secured. Because we are surrounded by protected land we are not sprayed for insects, so be safe and do tick checks often and bring the bug spray. We are 45 minutes from NYC or the Delaware Water Gap and an hour away from the NJ shore. There are horse farms nearby that offer trail rides. We are also close to the Highland and Appalachian Hiking trails. There are two reservoirs within a 20-minute drive for canoeing or kayaking. There are walking trails through our property, including a ten-minute hike on a marked trail to a small waterfall in a ravine.

The Lookout

Our property consists of 20 acres of the beautiful Blue Mountain. At the Lookout you can see for 40 Miles across the valley below. With views from Allentown, Lyons and Reading. The area with the view is a shared area for both sites. Feel free to use the fire ring while you sit and watch the evening sky. It is breathtaking at night. At the bottom of the mountain there is a Gunclub with a shooting range and you will hear shooting from the property. Please note it is far away and there is no danger Our property is mostly the mountain side. But with an area that is flat for tent camping. The Wanamakers and Kemton railroad is close by for a weekend train ride. Bear Rock Junction is close by for mini golf and ice cream. Eight Oaks Distillery is only a few minutes away. Several wineries and antique shops as well. You may also see Appalachian Trail Thru Hikers come thru our property to stay at the hostel. The River's Edge

The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience. Wildflower Hill

Nestled on the ridgeline of the 3rd Watchung Mountain, the property sits above The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. You'll be in a neighborhood, for sure, but a quiet one with lots of room for people and pets to stretch. The property has a 3000 square foot Summer wildflower field with a cozy tent spot in the center. There is also a grand flat grass area for setting up multiple tents. A 100-foot dog trolley run spans the land so your fluffy can run and stay close, too. Numerous outdoor chairs and tables are set up in various spots to best enjoy the land. There is a fire pit and free firewood available. Use of up to two 8-foot single kayaks or a single 17-foot canoe is available. The Passaic River has a number of drop-in spots nearby and Round Valley and Spruce Run reservoirs are a short drive. Hiking trails go throughout the Great Swamp. They have a terrific education center and the famous Raptor Trust.

BooBoo at Big Bear

A full-connection RV site near Lake Wallenpaupack. It is within a campground that was formerly a “Jellystone Park” and is now comprised of privately owned individual lots for camper units. Most lots have seasonally occupied park model homes and large campers. The host’s part-time residence is next door. The site is an open (no trees) level gravel pad with water, sewer and electric connections plus high speed WiFi. There are tall oak trees adjacent to the lot. The site has a fire ring and a picnic table. Big Bear campground is gated for security (you will be assigned a code) and has an outdoor pool (summer only), a playground and picnic pavilion, and walking trails. There is a community dumpster. Shopping, eateries, ice cream, pizza, a brewery-restaurant, groceries and laundry in Hawley are within a 7 minute (3 mile) drive. The Lake dam at sunset is popular.
