Weekend Trip to Mountaintop Fantasy

Peter’s “Treehouse and SMH” campsite was such a peaceful escape. The mountain views were stunning, and the sound of the waterfall pond added a calming, meditative vibe to the whole stay. It was the perfect backdrop for relaxing and soaking in nature. The space felt quiet, secluded, and well-kept. Peter was a thoughtful host— I appreciate him checking on us. If you’re looking for a serene spot with beautiful scenery and a soothing atmosphere, I’d recommend this place.

Weekend Trip to Trails & Tails Waterfalls Retreat

This camping spot is awesome, site 3 is on a big piece of land that is more secluded the further you go back. Our dog Ginger loved running around the trail in the back. Beth and Rob are great hosts, they always made sure we had what we needed. I would definitely come back.

4 nights at Cold Spring Basecamp

Excellent example of what a true Treehouse should be. This tree house is supported by four large trees 3 of which are growing through the deck and front porch. There is one tree that is actually inside your bathroom next to the shower. The treehouse is wonderful sitting high above the road below. Beautiful sight when leaves are off the tree as you come up the driveway. Our camp host was great checked on us occasionally. Definitely respected your privacy. The Treehouse has many windows sliding door and glass porch door as well as sliding bathroom door with frosted glass top panel. My wife was a little taken aback at the lack of privacy curtains but she soon got used to the fact that it was still very private. Opening the windows with screens allows the air to circulate through the cabin. The central heat and air is great for when you want to be warm or get really cool. There is a small in-wall thermostatically controlled heater in the bathroom. You can turn it from warm to hot and it will cut itself on and off intermittently. Definitely nice when you're in the bathroom and you vent the sliding windows. Be aware there is no television however we streamed music and video streaming services on our tablet if we wanted something to listen to or watch. We have Verizon cellular service and had decent connection with no problem streaming. Again you're in a treehouse in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina unplug and enjoy.

3 nights at Indian Creek Rental's Mountain Camp

We had a great time camping at Indian Creek. The setup was nice and private. We explored some if their local hiking trails during our stay. The carport at the campsite came in handy during poor weather our first night, we were able to setup our tent under the shelter. One simple recommendation: 1. Some hooks in the bath houses to hang towels or coats while bathing would be handy. Additionally, a small chair or bench to be able to sit down to put on shoes in there would have been nice.

Weekend Trip to Emberglow Outdoor Resort

We had a great experience at Emberglow. Their staff was friendly and helpful, the campground had a ton of amenities, was perfect for our young family and is very well taken care of. We plan to return soon!

2 nights at 3 Creeks Camp and Nature Preserve

We had the whole camp to ourselves which was so nice. It was quiet and there was a fun creek for the kids to play in. Some of the bathrooms could use some more upkeep but other than that we had a great stay and Damon was very nice!

1 night at Indian Creek Rental's Mountain Camp

We stayed on here for 2 nights for our hiking trip.. and absolutely loved it. There was plenty of space at the primitive camp site (camping in the woods) and the Mountain View site for our group of 6 people (3 tents). The hot tub was perfect for our sore bodies after hiking for 2 days. The bathhouse was clean, modern, and spacious. The view from the Mountain View camp site is unreal.. we will definitely be returning for and hiking we do in the area! Very private, relaxing, and convenient well worth the price! We had a fantastic stay at the campsite with a hot tub! The view was so pretty and peaceful. The carport was a great spot to setup our kitchen. The bathhouse was way closer than expected and the nicest one I’ve seen! We are definitely going back!!

Easy for large rig to navigate Gorgeous view It was our first trip in our new Schoolie rig, and we had some epic travel aggravations along the way. This Hipcamp site was the one bright spot in all that. 😆 I’d like to visit again when we can use it for a base camp for hiking or kayaking. This time it’s just been us regrouping to get on the road again

3 nights at Mountaintop Fantasy

Peter was a very attentive host, checking in on us and answering questions about how to handle things on the site quickly. This is a relatively simple cabin with a moderate sized sleeping area with some mild sitting space, not insulated but heated and generally comfortable. There is then a covered dining and kitchen area with camp type facilities. A microwave but then a couple of propane-fueled cooking options. A picnic table and one swing. On the other side is a water closet which takes a little work to keep going but does have a flushing toilet and a somewhat manageable shower. There are several places to wander outside with swings and other exposed picnic tables, including the treehouse like perch on the other side of the property. The views are not spectacular but are quite nice. It is not too far from some nice day trips in the Franklin to Highlands area. My daughter and I found it a nice spot to get away in the mountains for a few days. It's not cheap but reasonably priced given the apparent comparatives with maybe more glam in the cabin but less of a view and feeling of getting away. We were happy to travel to Peter's spot.

This was my first camping trip on HipCamp, and I couldn’t have picked a more perfect place to bring my elementary-aged son and dog! The property is gorgeous and the SportGo was clean and super spacious. My son loved looking out the tent windows each morning and playing in the creek. Beth & Rob were so kind and anticipated my questions before I had them. As a single mom, camping is not always for the faint of heart but at Trails & Tails it felt like a true getaway. Brevard and DuPont were easily accessible and we had a blast hiking, playing at the foot of High Falls, and exploring Brevard.

Nero Coffee's mission is to create connection between people through sharing great coffee and conversation outdoors. I started Nero Coffee in 2019 and purchased 6 acres near DuPont State Forest to share my land and create my own coffee campground to continue growing the mission. Update for 2024! Nero Coffee's Camping Spot has three ways to camp. Site 1: Glamping in my custom built (and way too adorable) mini A frame cabin. This cabin is tucked in the rhododendrons for complete privacy. Enjoy the super comfy bed and unique lifting side door to let the outdoors in :) or Site 2: Camping with room for up to 8 guests. There are multiple sites and so much room to spread out for groups up to 8 people. This year I am only opening tent camping for one group at a time so you can experience the mountains in the most peaceful setting. The upper camping area has plenty of flat areas for vans, cars, trucks and tents, and if you don't mind carrying our tent down the hill, the lower creekside camping area is THE PERFECT stargazing spot. There's plenty of room to set up any size tent down there, too. basically, You have the campground to make yourself totally at home. Site 3: Simple Car Camping Spot - Just want a spot to pull over camp for the night close toDuPont State Forest? We can make that happen. No tents allowed here, but it's a peaceful alternative to a cracker barrel parking lot. ----- Once you set up camp feel free to visit the Coffee Shed - It's a small shed on the property by the house that has everything you need to make a great cup of coffee. Coffee is always free. :) I have fire pits, tables an, if I am home, I have a super cute corgi that roams around the property throughout the day. If you spot me outside feel free to say hi or ask any questions about the area. I love helping guests find new places to explore. You will be about 8 minutes to DuPont State Forest (my favorite hiking and biking area) which has miles and miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. The entrance to Pisgah National Forest is about 15 minutes away as well so it's a convenient drive to visit the forest and drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I also own a company that guides "coffee hikes" to local waterfalls in DuPont State forest. You can find more about that in the photo descriptions. :) Please note!! My road up to my driveway is steep and bumpy. It’s only 0.3 miles up but bumpy. You don't need four wheel drive but higher ground clearance is recommended. (I have had small cars make it up but it is a bit intimidating if you are not used to driving in the mountains). if you have a small car just go slow. :) ------- Larger group? Want an indoor bath and shower?? If you are planning a larger group camping retreat and want to book the entire campground (including the main house with indoor shower, restrooms, and full kitchen and spare bedroom) I can make that happen for $500 a night. Upper Dill falls is beautiful and tucked into a lush cove. 7.9 mi- Wolf Creek Lake. We will provide guests with 5 gallon drinking jugs with a dispenser to use, and the toilet still has water to flush. But the shower, sink, tub, hose, and bidet will be shut down during these months. If you want the true off-grid experience this is it ;) We do require guests to e-sign our rental agreement that we will email to you, and request a $300 security deposit hold (not a charge) that we will release upon checkout. This is just a precaution for us letting people we don't know stay at our place and respecting it.
