Smoky Mountain Sky Camp - Cosby

3 sites ¡ Lodging11 acres ¡ Newport, TN
Leave No Trace mentality and simpler living, where wildlife abounds and zero city lights are visible. Two GSM National Park entrances are w/in 8 miles! Motivation behind the creation of Smoky Mountain Sky Camp is to share with the public an alternative, nature-based vacation inspired by conservation with minimal impact. The treehouses are quiet, secluded, and actually border GSMNP property and Cherokee National Forest land; the Appalachian Trail at Davenport Gap is ž mile away. Nearby GSMNP entrances: Big Creek is 2.5 mi, Cosby at 8 miles. Only 3 to the Pigeon River whitewater section, and accessible to hundreds of miles of mountain biking and hiking roads/trails. Each treehouse was built by hand by hosts (husband/wife team) Anthony and Brenna. A long history of camping and working in the outdoor recreation industry inspired a design to intentionally interact with nature. By utilizing rain collection, solar power generation, composting toiletries, outdoor cooking, each treehouse is completely off-grid. Rest from your adventures on the comfy, queen and full-sized beds. A spacious queen bottom bunk and lofted double mattress can accommodate four adult campers. All bed linens and pillows are provided. The treehouses offer private, indoor bathing and toilet facilities. Every treehouse is equipped with a propane-heated, rain-collection shower and maintenance-free, vented composting toilet. Lower Ocoee Riverside Campsite

4 sites ¡ RVs, Tents30 acres ¡ Ocoee, TN
Learn more about this land:Enjoy camping riverside with views of the Chilhowee mountain. This campsite is just minutes from the Cherokee National Forest and the endless recreation opportunities it has to offer. On the property, enjoy swimming in the lower Ocoee river, fishing, relaxing in a Finnish style wood burning Sauna or grilling out with friends and family. We look forward to sharing this special place with you! * We love to share this beautiful place with others. In the spring and summer months you will often find our land has a “community” vibe. You might see neighbors fishing, our children playing, or families swimming. The Sauna is a shared space, so you might see our family sauna-ing and cold plunging in the river (a routine we highly recommend). It’s a special place to us and we invite you and others to come and experience it! While there is certainly peace and privacy, it may not always be secluded.

Awakening Adventures

16 sites ¡ Lodging, RVs, Tents42 acres ¡ Grandview, TN
Welcome to our serene and rejuvenating private getaway nestled within 42 acres of forested beauty. The Sanctuary offers an unparalleled experience where nature meets comfort, allowing you and your group to unwind and reconnect with the tranquil surroundings. We have added multiple tree swings throughout the forest. We are uniquely situated on the edge of the Tennessee Cumberland Plateau and the Tennessee river valley. We are currently offering 4 treehouse dwellings to share our peaceful land full of God's promises. The dwellings are spaced far enough apart for privacy yet not to far of a walk to the common area where the kitchen and shower are. You'll be surprised at how cool the tents stay under the forest canopy in the heat of summer. Then in the colder months we have various heating options to keep you cozy in 3 of the dwellings I hope you come to share this with us, it's an amazingly peaceful area. Nearly 3 miles of hiking trails to enjoy during your visit. Take a spur trail off the main trail loop and there is a prayer shelter with a fire pit inspired by Luke 6:12 in the back corner of the property. Located at the edge of the prarie on the main trail is a sunrise/sunset/bird-watching platform that is 20 feet in the air with a 2 stage bridge to access it. We updated the outdoor kitchen with a 3 burner propane stove, propane grill and hot running water with a 3 bay sink. Other cooking options include a tripod over the fire and a charcoal grill. A short 10-minute drive to fire tower rd. brings you to a 2 mile loop trail with 2 waterfalls, Upper and Lower Piney Falls. Ozone falls is just a 20 minute drive. Then toward Spring City is Stinging Fork Falls at 25 minutes. Black mountain is my new favorite place especially the south overlook! The Hiking possibilities are nearly endless and close. I'll highlight one thru hike here since both trailheads are only 20 minutes away and is easy to coordinate with only 2 vehicles. It's a 10.2 mile hike that can be done in either direction and has a little something for everyone including a cave, boulder field, cascade and waterfall. Then you have massive Watts Bar Lake which is only 20 minutes away with a plethora of activities including the excursions we offer! We look forward to hosting you!

Dog-friendly camping in Tennessee guide

Overview

Tennessee's best-known college—the University of Tennessee at Knoxville—has a hound dog as its mascot (that's the blue-tick coonhound Smokey). So, it's no surprise that the Volunteer State's rich, diverse outdoors are oftentimes pet-friendly. From the Great Smoky Mountains in the east to the mighty Mississippi River in the west, you'll find a lakeside camping pad, a shady oasis, or an open meadow where you can pitch your tent with your pup. Most Tennessee state parks have trails that welcome exploration with your dog, too. It's worth noting that the Great Smokies do have some restrictions on trails where you can bring dogs, even when they are permitted in national park campgrounds. Don't forget to bring a leash and extra grub for your favorite dog.
