Dallas campers can rent a cabin by the beachside, lakefront, or in the woods.
With 14 Texas state parks and more than a dozen lakes within day-trip distance of the city, Dallas makes it easy for urban campers. If you’re craving a back-to-nature experience but don’t fancy pitching a tent or driving your RV into the city, cabin rentals are the ideal alternative. When summer temperatures heat up, rent a lakeside cabin on the shores of Joe Pool Lake or Lake Lewisville, where you can fish, boat, paddle, or relax on the sandy beaches. North of Dallas, there are family cabins at Cooper Lake State Park and rustic cabins by the lake at Eisenhower State Park, both within a 1.5-hour drive of the city. Best of all, heated and air-conditioned cabins can be booked year-round—you’ll need to reserve well in advance to secure a spot during peak season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), but you might snag a bargain on a winter rental.
