The Hitching Post

Western living at its finest, enjoy a stay in a real horse barn! It is a perfect mix of modern and rustic. With handcrafted kitchen cabinets from reclaimed barn wood. Hardwood floors are custom milled from local trees. The tile in the bathroom and the finished wood flooring in the bedroom give it a touch of modernity. Authentic decor throughout the space gives it a homey Western feeling. You don't want to miss out on the deck. It is the perfect place to spend quiet evenings gazing at the stars.

The Hitching Post is an apartment inside of a horse barn. The kitchen was custom-built from barn wood and locally milled trees. The main living room has a 42-inch Roku TV. Two queen beds in a large shared bedroom. The bathroom is spacious and boasts a large shower.

Guests have access to the entire living space. They can also park inside the barn.

We are located in a very rural area, with limited cell service. The closest restaurants and grocery store are located in Orderville UT which is 20 minutes south of us. We recommend bringing groceries with you!

Camp with the stars and magnificent views of Cedar City. 

You will be about 3 miles from 3 Peaks Recreation and biking area. 

There are biking trails near the property that you can hop right on.  Lund Trail and Three Peaks are both really close. 

We are 15 minutes from Wal-mart, Panda, Cafe Rio and other businesses.

Near Brian Head Ski Resort, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, and other great outdoor activities. 

The property has a gentle slope of about 7 feet down to the east over about 200 feet.   It is rocky and sandy desert.  You will want to bring water.

Full hookups water/ sewer/ and 50 amp electric. Covered trailer/RV/ van parking available. We are 15 minutes from Walmart, Movie Theater, Bowling Alley, Restaurants, and SUU.  For outdoor recreation we are 5 minutes from Three Peaks Recreation area with hiking, climbing, biking, frisbee golf and more. We are also less than an hour from Brian Head Skiing, Cedar Breaks, and Zion National Park. The property includes a 3/4 basketball court, baseball field, horseshoe pit, and trampoline. When you arrive look for the driveway right before two mailboxes. This is your entrance point.

Can also park on Southside of carport with full hookups.

Gap Ranch & Stoney Creek Model RR

Fremont culture and Anasazi people were the first known inhabitants of the area. Petroglyphs, pithouses, arrowheads, pottery, and manos dating from A.D. 750 to 1250 found in the area are evidence that it was on a major thoroughfare of early indigenous peoples. At nearby Parowan Gap ancient people inscribed petroglyphs on smooth-surfaced boulders that feature snakes, lizards, mouse-men, bear claws, and mountain sheep. Located near the Parowan Gap there are dinosaur tracks. East of the Gap and petroglyphs hikers can discover Hadrosaurs tracks that were originally formed in non-resistant mudstone. Later, the Old Spanish Trail

passed through the area.

The nearby town of Parowan was founded in 1851, twelve months after Parley P. Pratt and members of his exploring party discovered the Little Salt Lake (dry lake bed)

which is straight out from the property.

The area was traveled by early settlers that used the nearby Red Hills to pass through the area

to hide from aggressive Indians that hid in the nearby mountains that watch for them traveling on the Spanish Trail. Many arrow heads and artifacts have been found on and near the property.

Later (early 1900's) sheep herders camped in the same place as the location of the property.

Wide open land up against The Red Hills (BLM land) near the small town of Parowan Ut. Beautiful vistas. Outdoor Model Train layout, Hiking and biking trails. Lake typically has water up to 3’ deep but is known to dry up in late summer. Petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks nearby. Water on property No public bathrooms.

From June until mid October bring your RC-battery or Live Steam powered G-scale model trains and run on over 500' of mainline track. Please check with us prior to coming.
