Second stay. Very nice. River is a 5 minute hike. The bluebells were out this last time. Shenandoah River Park is my favorite for hikes, so did a day trip there. Skyline Drive is less than an hour —-if you can plan it for sunrise or sunset you will be awestruck. Sunset at the camp’s river was pretty. There’s a couple of owls in residence—I enjoyed listening to them on both trips.

This was a perfect location. The facilities were in excellent condition. It is conveniently located to hiking and the NP. My kids loved visiting the farm and seeing the animals. We look forward to returning!

I absolutely loved camping here! It was incredibly peaceful to stay among the animals, and we lucked out with beautiful weather. The site is thoughtfully set up with everything you could need: chairs, stumps for seating, a hammock, and a very functional bathroom tent. I highly recommend adding on a meal, we had breakfast, and it was not only delicious but also a full-circle moment to experience the sustainability of the farm firsthand. Would absolutely stay here again!

The Birdsong camp site was clean and well kept. The fire ring is nice, there is a flat picnic table area, a pad for a tent and a bathhouse/kitchen combo area. It’s clear to see that some thought and money were put into this site. Communication with the host was always clear and responsive. Overall we had a great time there. The only issue we had was a dog that seemed to start barking every night around 10 pm. It even ended up in our camp barking at us the first night. I understand that this is a working farm, so noises from goats, chickens etc were expected in the morning and throughout the day, but no one anticipated the nights to be disruptive.

We absolutely loved our time at Eric’s place. We stayed at the spot by the lake and truly loved every minute. The property is stunning and very well manicured and cared for. Our kids fished and kayaked for hours on end, we listened to the crazy frogs, walked to the creek, disconnected and truly had the best time. Even the portapotties were clean! We couldn’t recommend this place more. We also hiked the Buzzard Rock trail which is only a few minutes down the road. If you’re looking to unplug from life and just rest and soak in nature, this is the place!

Jenn and John were incredibly friendly and generous hosts for our 3 night stay. They helped us a lot with finding hikes and places to explore in the area. Our campsite was well maintained, private, and in a beautiful location. We loved getting to come back to all our new animal friends greeting us at the farm store. Bottle feeding the young lambs was a huge highlight! It's clear that the hosts care deeply about their land and all the residents. We'd definitely come stay again!

Weekend Trip to A Hidden Gem

Great spot 10/10, many different spots to choose to place your tent with incredible views of the stars. The stream provides some decent fishing and peaceful ambiance to your night away. My personal favorite moment from this trip was enjoying chopping it up around the fire by the stream looking up at the stars. My only gripe with this site at all, is its distance from the park and lack of access to great hiking. Other than that the host was super helpful and the site was wonderful, it truly is all to yourself.

Such a beautiful farm peacefully nestled along Shenandoah. Area to camp was extremely clean and easy check-in — just stop by the bulletin board. I did go up to the lodge as directed but no need. It was nice though because I learned I could get some hot water for my morning matcha at their coffee station located right in the lodge. Also a beautiful view from up there, and a beautiful clean bathroom if you’d prefer rather than outhouses, which were very clean. Loved being near the horses! Ended up driving myself over to the horse farm for a ride before stopping in the deli and venturing into the park. So great. A much needed R&R for me. No doubt, I’ll be coming back!

Three of our spots require walking away from your vehicle, short distances. We have four drive-in sites that will accommodate two or three vehicles. We do not allow RVs or trailers on our main farm due to our narrow mountain driveway. Wisteria Camp has a private driveway, it can accommodate small RV/Trailers. Camper vans are welcome at the main farm! Our farm store includes our Animal Welfare Approved products such as Eggs, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Lamb and Dairy, as well as produce, jams, coffee and other items from our local community. The property has miles of trails along mountain spring-fed streams, a small pond and access to three private acres on the Robinson River, a stocked Trout stream, just 2 miles down the road. The recreational draw to this area is hard to beat in VA and this property has it all for an amazing outdoor weekend! The ranch consists of 40 acres of low-land pasture, groomed perfectly for camping groups large or small. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site offers the option to camp on our 5-acre lake or camp creekside in the Cedar Grove sites along the banks of Passage Creek. Creek access varies at each site depending on the bank. The Ceadar Grove sites are just a short walk to the lake and beach amenities. The property has 1/2mi of Passage Creek wrapping around all the campsites, as well as, the privet lake to enjoy. I have all kinds of boats to try out and the waters are stocked with Bass, Blue Gill, and Catfish. Please catch and release. Passage Creek is stocked with Rainbow, Brown, Tiger, and Brook Trout throughout the year. The prime waters are just a mile upstream from Pastimes on Passage Creek Ranch. The Creekside Cedar sites are located within a sparse, groomed, Cedar grove along the banks of Passage Creek. These sites are extra large and can accommodate multiple family groups, as well as, travel trailers of all sizes up to off-road motorcoaches in site 1. There are no hookups, so It's just boondocking. Pack it in, Pack it out. Generators are allowed but please be aware of the other sites and direct the noise away. Groups of up to 25 people per site can realistically fit. Each site is very large with car camping space included. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site is very secluded, nestled between the mountains and the lake. It overlooks our 5-acre lake with mirror mountain views in the background. This site also has its own dock and is just a short walk down a mowed trail to a beautiful section of Passage Creek. An additional seasonal mountain stream can cascade behind the site and run under it to feed the lake when the conditions are right. The road can accommodate bumper pulls up to about 35ft to make the turn at the site. However, it is best suited for lighter traffic and smaller tent groups. At higher capacity, single-file parking is needed along the lake road. Max 10 people in order to keep some grass on the ground. Please, if you need more space - go to one of the Cedar Grove sites. Locally, the North end of Fort Valley offers many great hiking trails, trout fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, and the Elizabeth Furnace day-use park. Taskers Gap OHV/ATV park is a short drive south, and the valley is sandwiched between both forks of the Shenandoah River for those looking to paddle. Additionally, the local towns (Front Royal, Strasburg, Woodstock) offer their own charm and wide range of activities and attractions.

However we ask you let us know before trying to pet or interact with the animals because we do have a Livestock Guardian Dog inside the fence with them and she is very protective of her herd. In the spring and summer we offer for sale fresh eggs and organic produce to our guest. Our property is located in the heart of Fort Valley. We have miles of hiking trails all around. There are 2 horse back riding camps in the area to offer a beautiful view of our area on horseback. The activities are endless. Several excellent wineries are within a short diving distance. There is a fire ring at each site and we provide a free bundle of wood to each guest with more bundles available for $4 each. A porta potty is also located on the property for our guest. Please read the rules and recomendations posted at the site when you arrive. There is no lifeguard on duty, so you swim at your own risk. Although the creek is pretty shallow most of the time, we ask that if you have children, they are supervised at all times, especially around the water. We think you will love our little piece of heaven and we look forward to your visit!
