Weekend Trip to Your Farm in the City

The Rossi Farm is the most delightful place, and our hosts were excellent! We booked late, but were still welcomed in a timely and warm fashion. They checked on my daughter and me and also let us use the bathroom in the little house on their property, since there weren't any scheduled events in the barn. And the turkeys? The turkeys are so much fun to talk to, watch, and be with when you wake up. We will certainly return if we're ever camping in Portland again!

Weekend Trip to Batwater Station on Columbia River

Yurt was great, warm and comfortable. This is our 5th trip to the property and as always we enjoyed everything about this peacful retreat. From Karin and her husband to their sweet dog Molly. Enjoyed all of the birds including Osprey nesting right in front of the yurt. Simply watching the river go by and reading to the sounds of nature.

Weekend Trip to HolisticLifeFarm Clatskanie OR

This was a great spot for a quick weekend getaway! The cabin is thoughtfully set up and it was a great little functional space. Paul was helpful and very kind! Beautiful property and such a great private space! Would recommend to others!

My family of four (including a six year old) had a good time. There are sheep in a meadow and we enjoyed being stared at placidly by them. The composting toilet was delightfully clean and tidy. Though it was a cold and rainy night, the fireplace kept us warm and the yurt stayed dry. The yurt was very spacious. The things on the inside were very cool: a zodiac poster and chimes with a mallet. A very peaceful spot. And new gravel made the driveway easy to back out of! Thanks!

This was such a lovely little slice of tranquility among the hustle and bustle of the city. We really enjoyed our stay. It was short and sweet and Gabrielle made sure we had everything we needed. And the animals were an added smile. Our kids loved them. Thank you for sharing your farm with us!

Weekend Trip to Elkenmist

We had a fantastic time! My partner and I stayed in the yurt to celebrate my birthday. The yurt was clean and private. The wood stove kept us super toasty and the mattress was comfortable. The property has a handy outdoor kitchen and dining area. We also took the farm tour and got to hang out with the baby sheep and rabbits. We also made use of the sauna which was the perfect contrast to the rainy spring weather. The property is stunning and incredibly serene, there are tons more f trails to explore. We left feeling rejuvenated. Den and Max were both incredibly friendly and made our stay easy and enjoyable. We can’t wait to go back!!

Weekend Trip to Elkenmist

My partner and I had an amazing time here for her birthday, I think our biggest regret was not having more time to explore more of the trails around the property. The yurt was very well built, stayed warm with the stove, and was very large for two people and two dogs. The single sleeping mat was surprisingly comfortable and the outhouse was only a short walk from the front doors. Den was extremely kind and helpful in making sure the stay was successful and fun, and the farm tour with Max was great as we were able to meet a lot of baby sheep and rabbits, and we were met with answers to all of our many questions. The location is far enough out that you hear and see a lot of nature, but centrally located enough that we were able to explore both the Washington and Oregon coast easily! The shared outdoor kitchen offers enough amenities that you shouldn’t have any problems making food, the wood fired sauna was an excellent addition, and the outdoor shower is just a few steps away from the sauna and kitchen making everything fairly central. We had such a fun time and we look forward to our next stay!

Loved our overnight. Even though the barn was in use for a birthday party, Gabrielle is so gracious and we had full access to all amenities. Plus she gives great recommendations for restaurants in the area.

The pictures didn't do this place justice! We had an incredible weekend staying in the lodge. It was so well-insulated that the small heater did its job well. I love that all the campsites had a firepit, table, and were near water. You can hear the creek flowing from the whole property. Tyler was a great communicater, too. Plan to be back!

3 nights at Batwater Station on Columbia River

The was a great place to come even for a rainy March getaway. It would be fantastic in nicer weather when one could have fun playing on or in the river. We saw all kinds of critters, including many, many birds. The host was super, very helpful and kind. The common area was well stocked with the things we forgot to bring. We will be back!

We had a great stay on Gabrielle’s farm - it was the perfect spot to visit Portland whilst in our RV. The amenities ensured we were very comfortable and we loved the cool, quirky site - not to mention our neighbouring goats and turkeys! Gabrielle was a very communicative and accommodating host - highly recommend!

Another spontaneous trip to be next to a body of water, this time is the Columbia river. Just wow! Such an amazing property Karin has, she is very responsive, friendly and overall a star host. Thanks so much for letting us immerse in nature in your beautifully maintained paradise. We’ve had a lot of animal sounds, from different birds singing, frogs chatting to howling coyotes or (maybe wolves) we dont know. We loved the outhouse with complete kitchen facilities, toilet and bathroom, that is heated! Campsites and other forms of accommodation (yurt, cabin & boathouse) were distant from each other and we felt our spot was private even though it’s in the roadway. We really loved our stay here, with the amazing sounds of nature, serenity and the views were truly outstanding! We’d love to come back.

“Flederhaus” the 12’x12’ sleeping quarters is on the Columbia River and has easy access.

A truly special way to experience life along the river, the Houseboat is beautifully designed, artfully decorated and thoughtfully equipped throughout. We loved getting to watch the wildlife all around us while also enjoying the luxuries of a big comfy bed, fast WIFI and space for remote work, and everything you could need to cook a great meal and feel at home. Very cool hosts and history about the area! Karin and Michael are lovely folks -- proactive, kind, responsive and helped us with any issues that popped up. Highly recommend!

1 night at Batwater Station on Columbia River

We loved camping at Bat water station. They had a nice trail to walk and our camp site was right next to the river. The bathroom was very warm and clean. The kitchen was also well stocked and heated so we cooked our breakfast in the kitchen. It was very mice gor them to offer us free eggs. The owner was very kind and generous. It was freezing cold and they offered us to watch TV in the heated yurt. It was obvious that the owner cared about our safety and comfort more than anything. The owners’ thoughtful hospitality made me want to come back. Thank you Karin! We appreciate your kindness and generosity. We will be back !

We enjoyed our very cold and frosty weekend here! The wood stove was our life saver after exploring and through the 27 degree nights. The composting toilets were very nice and it was so quiet and peaceful. just what we needed

Weekend Trip to Fern Haus

This place is awsome! The host was very friendly and the place was easy to find. The place has so many awsome qualities we will definitely be back. We came on a cold weekend and they made sure we were able to n stay warm. We had an awsome heated blanket wood stove and propane buddy incase fire went out overnight. The place had water and coffee. A fridge n microwave. Really everything but a grill. The bathroom was dare I say remarkably clean and did not smell bad. Felt just like a bathroom but colder lol. The property is awsome. Secluded feeling. There is a river and alot of places to explore. The tent site look very nice as well but we're taken down for the season. They place all together 11 out of 10:) really nothing bad to say about it besides maybe add more lights to find the bathroom at night. But there were lanterns provided. Thank you guys for such an awsome experience we will be back 100% :).

2 nights at Batwater Station on Columbia River

We stayed 2 nights at Batwater, Karin's beautiful piece of paradise. My 2 dogs and myself stayed in the cabin. What an absolutely magical place. The cabin itself is warm, inviting, and stocked with everything you could need. Karin's attention to detail is noticeable in the many comfort items provided. The linens were beautiful and cozy. The best was laying snuggled in bed looking out the slider door window at the river. Bird and nature sounds and sights to delight you. We walked the numerous trails along the river and meadows overlooking the wetland area. Absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The cabin was very private and quiet, we absolutely loved our time there. I already have booked again, and am sure I will be a regular visitor. This property, and it's owners are a true treasure!

Erik's Swedish parents Ulf and Petsy Kahn purchased the Ranch in 1969, raising horses and cattle (200 head at one time). They rode the trails, tended the cows, and had great times fishing, swimming and camping. Campers can enjoy Kayaking, Horseback Riding ...and Swimming at our beautiful riverside location! Camp by river with tent, trailor or RV, RV "Boondockers" are welcome. Tour the beautiful Lewis river valley by horse back and ride into town for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Welcome to Holistic Life Farm! We are a working homestead and delight in sharing our daily experience and offer visits with our sheep, cows and chickens. Holistic Life Farm offers a 1 dry tent site for up to 12 people, a quaint hideaway cabin, and a glamped out 16x20 canvas tent with a wood stove. We also offer 1 RV site in our parking area.
