What a cool spot Jim has. Easy access from the highway... yet quite secluded. Site is a level gravel base that was good for our 18' TT. Nice to have electric, water and black water dump on site. The 3 sites were clean and well maintained. Jim and his crew are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The description and pictures are accurate. Oysters from the area are fabulous. We had a great couple days and we will return!

Weekend Trip to City Scape Homestead

I booked this spot at the last minute for a weekend in Seattle and loved how close it was to the city center and airport. The instructions provided were clear and I found Ana’s place easily. Ana is a friendly and kind host and made sure that I had what I needed to feel comfortable/acquainted with the property. The parking pad has a wooden gate on the side, which provides a sense of privacy from the street. I camped in my rooftop tent and felt safe during my stay. There can be some noise from the planes flying over or loud cars driving by on the highway, but the earplugs that Ana provided helped me sleep well both nights. Overall great urban stay and would return and recommend to others!

Weekend Trip to RV+ Rainbow Falls / Willapa Trails

We stayed in spot #4 in the grass at RV+ Rainbow Falls / Willapa Trails, and it was a fantastic trip! The grassy site gave us an incredible view of the night sky—stars were out in full force, and we spent hours just soaking it in. The RV spots were extremely wide, which made setting up super easy and gave us plenty of room to spread out. We loved hiking the trails on the property—they were a blast for us and our dogs, who couldn’t get enough of them. Along the way, we spotted deer, a small snake, and even a beautiful trillium bloom in the forest, which felt like a little gift from nature. Dunn Creek runs through the property, and we could hear it from our campsite, adding such a peaceful vibe. The whole farm was clean and well-kept, which we really appreciated. Dan, the host, was awesome. He stopped by twice to check on us, always with a smile, and he’s seriously knowledgeable about the forest—answered all our questions like a pro. He made us feel right at home and was a huge part of why we enjoyed our stay so much. It was a great spot for our dogs too—they thrived out there on the trails. All in all, a top-notch place to park the RV and unwind. We’d definitely come back—thanks, Dan, for being such a great host!

2 nights at Hairy Eagle Lookout 🦅

An amazing place to camp. We had a stunning view at the Pink table. We saw Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St. Helens. The large swing is a blast. Sites are slanted towards the edge; It would be cool to see them leveled out. Outside of that I have nothing but good things. If you get the chance check it out.

Had a great experience camping here! The site is well set up with a sturdy yellow picnic table and a nice fireplace—perfect for cooking and hanging out. Instructions were very clear, and it was easy to find the location. The views are a definite highlight—sunrise and sunset were absolutely beautiful. One thing to note: the yellow picnic table is fairly close to neighboring sites, so your camping neighbors can make a difference. Thankfully, mine were quiet and respectful. Overall, I definitely recommend this spot for a peaceful and scenic getaway.

We had such a wonderful time staying at Summit Farms. Mitch and Michelle were so welcoming. Our boys loved playing pool and on the instruments in the barn. We also enjoyed spending time in the bamboo forest and exploring the different areas on the farm. The sauna was also so relaxing! We will definitely be coming back!

My family absolutely loved camping out on Kandi & Marks farm! They were so friendly, accommodating, and great with my 2 young children. All of the animals on the farm were great and Levi the goat is so friendly and sweet we all agreed that we will have to come back to see him! We had fresh chicken, duck, quail, and goose eggs and fresh baked sourdough bread which was such a treat!

What a lovely spot at the end of the lane! We loved our dry camp site on grass by a little seasonal creek where my dogs say the drinking water was excellent. Every person we met, whether working or staying on the farm, was friendly. We enjoyed exploring nearby Millersylvania State Park, cooking with local food from the Olympia Farmers Market, then being serenaded by the frogs in our cozy beds in the meadow at night. Thanks Mitch and Michelle. We'll be back!

Great spot! Such a great find especially with water and electric there. Definitely have 4WD on when you’re towing. We arrived in pouring rain and had quite a bit of slipping happening while towing our 20’ trailer with our truck, but navigated it fine. Sites are not too level, so bring your Anderson’s and expect to max them out.

Kandi and Mark were great hosts! We enjoyed the farm tour and they offered our kids to help feed the animals in the morning. They were also great when we discovered a nail in our tire just before leaving, requiring us to run to a tire shop to get it fixed, delaying our departure. They were very understandable and easy to work with. We would highly recommend staying here and would come back again.

2 nights at Summit Farms: Peaceful & Enjoyable

Summit Farms was an idyllic setting and Mitch was a fantastic host! Our troop of traveling high school students needed camping accommodations at short notice during the off season and Mitch was more than happy to provide us with as many amenities as he could provide. We were set up with a fire pit by our tent camping location in a quiet field with toilet access, potable water, and the event barn just a short walk away. We spent our afternoons enjoying the billiards table and projecting a film in the upper level of the barn while we ate some dinner, and we spent our evenings cooed to sleep by the ribbits of frogs, the clicks of crickets, the hoots of owls, and the distant songs of coyotes. Mitch went above and beyond to ensure our positive experience. He even came to our rescue when we attempted to take an unwise shortcut driving out of the field and found our tires buried in mud. He helped tow us out that morning and when we returned for our second night of camping he had done us the courtesy of marking all soft mud spots in the field with bright orange flags that directed us on the best path for entry and exit of the campgrounds. A sublime experience with exemplary service. 5 Stars.

You'll want to bring your own shampoo and conditioner, but I think that was the only things I noticed I'd want. They even had firewood for us, no extra charge! David, his wife, and everyone else that helps maintain the property were SO sweet and welcoming. Seems like it would be a lovely place to stay in the winter, so thats when I'd like to come back! 5 stars all the way for everything here, the thoughtfulness of the cabins, the cleanliness, the readily available kitchen and the hospitality. Good 'Dose' of Relaxation

Property nestled above the Dosewallips River with tremendous views of Mt. Jupiter Ridge and the Dosewallips River. You will find numerous hikes in the Olympic National Forest within a short drive, a gorgeous waterfall and swimming hole within 5 minutes, parks, Whitney Garden & Nursery, boat launches, crabbing, clamming & oyster digging, wildlife watching, enjoying the Hood Canal, and much more! Or, just sit back and relax in tranquility, as the property sits at the end of a cul de sac just before entering national forest land. Be sure to leash your pets and keep a good eye, as there are wildcats, coyotes, and bears in the area. Learn more about this land: Pull your RV or trailer onto this lot and take in the beautiful southwestern view of Mt. Jupiter ridge and a peek-a-boo view of the Dosewallips River! Listen closely, and you will hear the sounds of the river below. The lot is equipped with power and water hookups! Please be aware the water hookup is near the main gate entrance and the power is about 40 feet apart, so you may need a long hose (see pic). Enjoy the view from the large deck, firepit, or picnic table overlooking the river, valley, and mountains. This lot is truly a little slice of heaven! Within a few minutes, find yourself at Rocky Brook falls (see pics) for a spectacular view and even a swim if you so please! Pleasant Harbor Marina (also shown in pics) also within 10 minutes! You will also find many hiking trails and parks nearby! There is weak cell service on the lot, so you may or may not be able to connect. I get 1-2 bars with Sprint. While this property is not very far off the Dosewallips road (35 mph), it is generally very quiet and peaceful. You may hear cars and motorcycles from time to time, but very faintly. The lot is at about 350 ft. elevation, so you may get noise traveling up the valley from the residential community below (to which I belong), such as dogs, people using chainsaws, etc. There is hunting allowed in the national forest, so you could potentially hear guns in the distance during the day, but that is rare. There are a few close neighbors, so please be respectful and quiet, especially in the evening. Please bring your own firewood when campfires are allowed and please do not forage for firewood on or around the property. Lastly, while the sightings have been few and rare, the neighbors have seen bears, cougars, coyotes, and bobcats near their homes and this property. So keep an eye on your children and pets, especially if off-leash (your pet of course!) The property also slopes a bit where the deck starts, so again, keep a close eye on the kiddos. You have a very good chance of seeing the local Roosevelt Elk that travel in huge herds around Brinnon (See pics). They sometimes lay down and hang out on the grass on the property! Make sure your pets have their flea and tick updates!

Our property is 56 acres of mixed biomes including multi-generational forests, open meadows, and creek side trails. We are located right off Chandler Road, off of Highway 6. You turn onto Labri road (white sign) and you're on the property after going through a gate. Meander down the road past a red barn and several buildings on your right. Through the second gate, the dispersed camping site offers various sites for camping attached to a main trail that parallels the Dunn creek down to the Chehalis river. They are conveniently accessible off the logging roads which cross with Labri road after you've passed through the second gate. If you take the logging road to the left (look for a blue and white ribbon) you will come up to a tree line where you can park (another blue and white ribbon) and either take the trail to the left or right where you will find ample places to camp. You may camp along the trail or closer to the creek. The most ideal spot is right after you park near the blue and white ribbon if you walk North you'll see a site marked with an orange and white ribbon. This site has easy access to the creek but is still on a hill. There are four RV spots with full onsite hook-up. Two of the RV sites are paved and lit with ground lights and are prioritized for heavier rigs. The other two sites are on grass. We have two RV sites with no hook up (boondocking) but bathroom and shower access. We do not allow dumping of grey water or sewage at our property but there is a dump station just 1 minute away at Rainbow Falls State Park. The site is located on a hill so you get very nice view of sunsets and sunrises. For those who enjoy bird watching the nearby fruit trees bring in many birds. We built Hidden Meadow to be the campsite that we have always searched for on our family adventures, surrounded by nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the world, with trails for hiking and a HOT TUB to relax in, in the evening! About the property: We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey. The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups! Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi. About the campground: The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the bathroom which has a shower and a toilet. The toilet is a porta-potty and the shower is propane headed. There is also a supply closet at the bathroom that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hottub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins as well as a sink for washing hands (please water only down the sink). We have provided soap that is biodegradable for the sink and shower to help reduce our impact on this beautiful environment. There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There is also several fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊 The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offers great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails! Dogs: We do have two dogs on the property (Wilma and Bean) who are very friendly and we will keep them out of camp during your stay. Although they typically follow us when we walk down there. We allow dogs to be off leash at owner’s risk. There may be other dogs in camp so please use discretion when letting your dogs off leash and be mindful of other campers. You must be responsible for your own dogs, we are not responsible for any dog related or dog inflicted injuries. Getting here: We are off of Sleater Kinney Rd in Olympia. We have a long, steep, curvy driveway. At the bottom of the driveway, you will find signs directing you to the camp site. If you have extra vehicles, we have extra parking spaces adjacent to the campsite. The road out to camp may be bumpy (we do our best to keep it smooth) so go slow and beware of natural obstacles. Rules: 1. Check in time is 2:00pm or later. For afterhours arrivals, please let us know. 2. Check out time is 12:00pm or earlier 3. Quiet hours from 9pm to 8am. You are far from our house, so we can’t hear you but sound travels well over the water to our neighbors. Nobody wants grumpy neighbors, please be respectful. 4. Remain within the campground boundary during all times. If you need us, please feel free to text or call. 5. Please put all trash in the trash cans or take it with you. 6. Remove all dog doo and dispose of in the trash. 7. Leave what you find (except ripe blackberries). Please leave any forest treasures where you found them. 8. Cleanup any debris left from firewood/camp activities before departing. 9. Enjoy nature and respect it. Please stay on trails and respect the plants and the natural habitats. 10. Stay off the dock. It is closed for repair. 11. Do not use the trailside fireplace (if you find it) or our personal canoe or kayaks. However, feel free to enjoy the view from the seats by the fireplace. 12. Be cautious when walking around, the ground is bumpy and there are exposed tree roots that can be tripping hazards. We are not responsible from injuries. 13. Help us keep it clean- if you find any garbage around, please pick it up or let us know. 14. Keep fires small and when you are finished PUT YOUR FIRES DEAD OUT! There are 5 gallon buckets by each fire put to fill before you start your fire for putting them out. 15. Please do not burn trash or food. It can create issues with the wildlife. The Arboretum at Bear Canyon West

This is a gorgeous park-like RV campground situated between the trees of the arboretum. No tents, please. Also we have NO public restrooms. Beautiful view of the mountains and forests here in western Washington. We are close to Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier and several lakes. There are walking trails all around the site. The 12 acre campground is located on a 136 acre property that is an active Christmas tree farm. Trails continue throughout the tree farm. Giant Redwoods, Cedars, and Maples are just a few of the varieties present. Part of the farm is still a working Christmas tree farm. The trails are wide and grassy. The old logging road that we use as a trail to the river has an elevation change of about 500 feet, the trail can be quite challenging. Bear Creek empties into the Tilton river at the end of the trail. There is an ART GALLERY where you can learn to pound flowers, see the host's artwork and get a cup of coffee! Olympic Gateway Cottage And RV Site

Several Olympic National Forest and Skokomish Wilderness trails can be accessed from Lake Cushman, including Mt. Ellinor, Mt. Rose, and Mt. Washington. When returning to camp, enjoy what our property has to offer. Of the 11 acres, 10 acres are comprised of a Cat II wetland, a Cat III wetland, and their associated buffers. A legal trail winds down to Mill Creek just 1/4 mile downstream from the outlet of Lake Isabella. Here the creek is wide and it is permissible to hand launch non-motorized vessels (eg, kayaks, canoes). The stretch of creek between our property and the lake is conservation land, and a beaver dam crosses the creek, but kayakers can usually navigate over the beaver dam and paddle into Lake Isabella. The lake is over 200 acres and boasts Lake Isabella State Park and a Dept of Fish and Wildlife public boat launch. Our wetland is critical for maintaining local water quality and supporting the local shellfish industry; access is confined to the trail and creek access needs to be respectful and gentle. But if you pause for a moment or two along the trail or shoreline, you'll be rewarded as the local wildlife begin to stir from their hiding places. Song birds, rabbits, deer, voles -- yes. But also river otters, beavers, ducks, cormorants, and owls. Mountain lions and coyotes are possible, but we have not personally seen these. Salmon do run Mill Creek, as well. Dogs are permitted on the trail during summer, fall, and winter if leashed but should stay up near the RV site during spring to avoid disturbing nesting wildlife. Back at the RV site, there is a picnic table for outdoor cookouts (propane stoves are permissible). Inside the driveway circle is a large propane fire pit with half-moon seating on either side - perfect for roasting S'mores late into the evening. The majority of our outdoor lighting shuts down at midnight to allow for stargazing in a region remote from city lights. A 1-bed, 1-bath cottage is currently under construction, tucked into a cove of maple, hemlock, and alder. Availability expected in spring 2025. With just a single RV site, our nearest neighbor several acres away, and only State and County land between us and Hwy 101, you can expect a private stay in a forested setting with easy freeway access to the Olympics on one side of the property and an idyllic private creekside nature preserve on the other. We welcome you to share this place we call home. The camp, for the tent site… we arrived and she drove us all over her property and told us to just choose where we wanted to camp. We chose to stay in back of the horse area. While we could see the house from there, we didn’t care and if you want to move back in the woods further, there are spots back there too that would provide more privacy if you need that. This is a great site and a one of a kind experience being that close to the horses."

(Also, as we are only a 5 acre property, we are close enough to roads that you may hear some traffic. Overview

A short drive from Seattle, in the Puget Sound region, Washington’s state capital of Olympia offers easy access to the Olympic National Forest and Olympic National Park, and many campers pick up groceries and supplies here before heading into the woods. While most of the area’s camping options are outside of Olympia’s city limits, it’s still worth checking out if you’re a fan of smaller communities with an unconventional feel, and there are lots of independently owned shops and restaurants that cater to students at the Evergreen State College, Washington’s very own alternative state school.

Olympic National Park

With nearly a million acres of ancient groves, wild beaches, and even geothermal hot springs, Olympic National Park is an exceptional place to experience Washington's ecological diversity. Highlights include the Hoh Rainforest, with its ancient moss-covered trees, and Mount Olympus, a popular destination among experienced alpinists.

Millersylvania State Park

About a 15-minute drive south of Olympia, Millersylvania State Park attracts water lovers who come to swim and paddle on its large lake, appropriately named Deep Lake. Boat rentals are available and the park offers nearly eight miles of hiking trails for those who’d rather stay on land. If you want to stay the night, you’ll have your choice of tent sites and RV sites with partial hookups, all of which come with picnic tables.

Mount Rainier National Park

A popular weekend getaway spot for Olympia residents, Mount Rainier National Park is a fantastic place for hiking, camping, and generally checking out the scenery. It can easily be visited as a day trip from Olympia, and while there are a few seasonal campgrounds within the park’s boundaries, spots fill up quickly.

When to go

Olympia has a temperate climate and gets plenty of rainfall from fall through spring. Summer is the best time to visit, when the chance of rainfall is low and temperatures often reach the low 80s, but you'll have to compete for campsites with the summer vacation crowd if you come in July or August. Fortunately, the weather usually stays pleasant well into September, after local kids have gone back to school for the year.
