We stayed here with our 22 foot travel trailer. I would recommend backing into the site as others have stated, as pulling straight in can limit you options for positioning. I made this mistake which made it quiet tricky as I had to back myself out. The small shed over the picnic table was such an excellent addition to this site to give my dogs a place to dry off before coming back in the trailer. Having water, electric AND sewer at a Hipcamp site was particularly impressive even though we didn’t use the sewer. The site in general was very well maintained and I think it’s a perfect site as a base camp for exploring further into the area or as a good starting spot for a BDR adventure

This place was great for a good time together, the hosts are friendly and welcoming. Birds singing, a walk along a forest path with amazing clean air give you a boost of energy. Thanks to Diana for a cozy place.

1 night at Camp Cushman

We love Camp Cushman! The location is convenient to so many outdoor recreation areas and interests. We explored Hood canal, Mt Walker, Lake Cushman and even discovered there is a disc golf course close by so bring your disc's! Byron is a great host and very communicative. The camp is private, we'll maintained. Having an extra bathroom was a bonus! We loved being surrounded by trees, birds of all kinds, lungwort, mushrooms and the resident deer family. The sky was perfect for skywatching and it was so quiet! We look forward to our next stay at Camp Cushman🌿

It was just what I was looking for private, quiet and peaceful. Byron had it all waiting for us - even WIFI. 1st night the skies were clear and stargazing was fantastic. Bonus was the frequent visits from the deer.

Weekend Trip to Private Beach, 15 Acres, Vashon

My fiancé at the time and I were looking for a venue for a quaint wedding. While simultaneously searching for camping spots for this summer on Hipcamp, I stumbled upon this gorgeous property. It is absolutely breathtaking! Wonderful views of Mt Rainier and the Puget Sound. Also, the long tree-lined driveway made for some beautiful photographs. Lisa was a fantastic host! We made a surprise visit before we booked the property and Lisa was kind enough to accommodate us and gave us a tour of the property. She was also very communicative throughout the process. We were married on our 18 year anniversary in front of immediate family and our three fur babies and it was absolutely perfect (minus the wind). But it didn’t rain and that was a win! Unfortunately the mountain wasn’t out on that particular day but that’s what we get for getting married in March! It was out on the day we visited prior and let me tell you, it’s absolutely stunning! If you’re looking for a private place to camp or have a wedding, I highly recommend this incredible property! There aren’t any hookups (power, water, sewer) so you will have to come prepared for that. But if you’re set up for dry camping, you’ll be fine. We already have a camping trip booked there for June and can’t wait to go back! Thank you Lisa for helping make our special day even more memorable!

Perfect spot for exploring Mt Rainer NP and surrounding area. Site was clean, reasonably private and well appointed (covered porch, fire pit and chairs) . It is right off the road, so road noise can be a factor. We visited off season and arrived later in the day, so it wasn’t an issue for us. Will definitely stay again.

I had a workshop in the Winlock area. This was a very convenient location. Easy to get in and out of. Nicely graveled and level site with full hook up. Host was very helpful in assisting me with a little problem I had. Located in a very rural area but not far off I-5, and a good restaurant and coffee stop. Safe and quiet.

Weekend Trip to Camp Cushman

This was our second stay at Camp Cushman. We've had stellar experiences both times. Byron is professional, accommodating, and responsive, and it's obvious he cares and has put a lot of work into improving the property and making it a true gem of a place to relax and enjoy a lovely getaway. Starlink internet is a game changer since cell service out here is spotty and I appreciate that amenity so much. There's also a flush toilet and two sinks (one outside), and full RV hook-ups! The property is very private and there's so much space for us and the pups to spread out and have fun. Will definitely be back!

The Feathered Refuge: Off-grid

The "Feathered Refuge" is an RV site located in the middle of 3 acres of solitude. This site is a rare find: your own private campground! If you are longing for complete quiet and privacy accompanied by the hoots of barred owls and the tweets of finches and camp robbers, you have found respite! You may even glimpse an occasional bald eagle. The camp-site is graveled and 24 feet long and approximately 10 feet wide. The way up is a bit of an adventure. Located on a low- elevation mountain ( 1700 feet elevation for the site), it is three miles of a windy dirt- and- traveled road. You will need 4WD or AWD with a lot of clearance. The site is located behind two locked gates, so the owner will greet you at the gate to the mountain. If you do not have the appropriate vehicle and wish to tent- camp, there is a site available for that as well, and arrangements can be made for parking at another property the owner has at the base of the mountain, for an additional fee of $30. (please bring cash or we can use paypal, as Hipcamp does not allow add-ons.) A porta-potty is provided, and you have access to the owner's patio for cooking or relaxing (between 3-7 PM). The site comes with a guest pass to the coveted Lake Cushman area, 2 lakes and several boat launches. The pass also provides access to the nice and clean showers at one of the two parks. Hoodsport is in an ideal location: 45 minutes north of Olympia, or two hours from Seattle, it's an easy and beautiful drive. It is also the Gateway to the Staircase area of the Olympic National Park, one of the top eight things to do in the " Pearl of the Northwest." Places to eat: Honeybee Pizzeria and Grinder, Hoodsport coffee company (best ice- cream outside of Seattle, with " Olympic Mountain ice- cream"), and the best Mexican food for miles is 25 minutes away in Union, WA, at "2 Margaritas." They have great karaoke! There is also a fabulous music scene in Union. During the day you can walk the three-mile loop around from our driveway, OR you can go through our two locked gates (with the owner and their key) to go climb Staircase (25 ms away) or head to Hood canal for some fishing or to Hoodsport for the incredible Olympic Mountain ice-cream Amenities: a. Patio: You can use the owner's patio during the day (9 AM -12:00 PM and 3:00-7:00 PM) to relax in style or to grill your meal ($15 add-on for cleaning the grill and providing the propane). b. There is a porta potty available c. You have access to the Lake Cushman lakes and full restroom with showers (Lake Cushman or Lake Kokanee), when attended by the owner through the gateson Dow Mountain. c. You will be given a guest pass by the owner for the duration of your stay, when provided a $75 refundable cash deposit for the pass (paypal is also accepted). d. Small boat parking: there is secondary parking available at a lot on pavement which you can leave over-night for an additional fee of $30/ night. Please note: You will need a 4wd for your truck as the road from the pavement is a gravel road 3 miles long.

Nestled in beautiful Mossyrock, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains just off White Pass Scenic Byway in western Washington state, Blue Sheep Farm is less than a mile away from one of the best fishing holes in the state (Swofford Pond), and from Riffe Lake’s heavily-booked Mossyrock Campground. Our 20-acre property features densely-forested mountainside trails, a seasonal creek and pond, with a variety of hardwood and evergreen trees. Surrounded on three sides by Christmas tree farms, our farm is the last bit of wilderness left in the area. Only an hour from Mt. Ranier’s legendary winter sports, with hiking, fishing and festivals all both here and nearby, our farm provides a perfect Base Camp for your any-season getaway! Your campsite has 15a power and water, and gravel parking, and is located by the beautiful Western style brown barn at the end of Naylor Road (at the "End of County Road" sign). Note that the site has been leveled but is NOT perfectly level; it is however within the typical leveling ability of RVs at the size limits stated. The farm is located on a steep hillside (12% grade); there is only so much we can do. But the stunning views more than make up for any inconvenience, in our experience. Ovis Aries is the scientific name for “domestic sheep”, and indeed, we raise Romney sheep of all colors on our farm! You may also meet our sweet and friendly Morgan Horse mare, Naya, who likes to follow visitors around like a very large dog. We also have a small orchard with apples, persimmons, cherries, blueberries, and a pear, peach and almond tree beside the barn. We farm using organic, no-till, permaculture, silvopasture and forest grazing practices, and the sheep are entirely grass-fed, producing meat of the healthiest-possible quality. If fiber arts is your jam, we have a beautiful wool workshop, with a 40" 4-shaft, 6-harness Louet Hollandia floor loom, a 32" Harp rigid heddle loom, 5 spinning wheels, a drum carder, and numerous other fiber tools for scouring, prepping, spinning, dyeing, weaving, felting and knitting wool. One on one and small group classes are available with reservations. We also have a business center, including fast StarLink Wi-Fi. Farm Tours are given on request.

Pleasant Places

Pleasant Places campground is clean, quiet, spacious, and private with lots of nooks for R&R as well as ample space for play and activities. It is an ideal location for large groups, and in order to keep the camp private, larger groups are given priority. Centrally located and with 10 acres of field, forest and farm, there is something of interest for everyone. In camp you will find a rustic kitchen, two 6' picnic tables, and a fire pit with accessories. There is also a resource area where you will find an electrical outlet, a water hose, five gallon jugs, bundled firewood, fresh eggs/produce for sale, and a wagon to transport everything back to camp. While the campsite, play space, and driveway loops are mowed, most of the grounds are wild so bring your tromping shoes. We also have a play field (with a net) so pack your movie screen, volleyball, soccer ball, badminton set and lawn games. You'll enjoy communing with the farm animals, the goats are especially hands on and love the attention campers give them, while the chickens and ducks are mostly just fun to observe. The local fauna include deer, skunk, coyote, rabbit, weasel, and possum--bear and cat are not common, but please do be conscientious about leaving food out. While there isn't water on the property, Mayfield, Ike Kinswa, and Riffe lakes are all 20-30 minutes from here and provide lots of boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities. Just five minutes down the road, Carlisle Lake offers walking trails, outdoor exercise equipment, fishing, summer concerts, and a playground for the kids. If you're looking to explore the area, Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, the East Side, and the Pacific Coast are all just day trips from here. We are midway between Portland and Seattle and just 15 minutes off of I-5 making Pleasant Places a perfect meet in the middle getaway. Visit Vashon Island and relax on this private estate property. Camp near the bluff, overlooking Puget Sound, walk the trail down to the beach and enjoy 1000 ft. of secluded beach. You can camp in the field by the bluff, or in the forest on either side of the driveway. The island boasts great coffee hangouts, galleries, wineries, restaurants (Earthen, The Ruby Brink, The Hardware Store Restaurant), Snapdragon and others. Minglement, the Burton Coffee Stand, and Cafe Olio Vino have great coffee. Thriftway is a great grocery store. The Burton Store is worth a visit if you are coming from the Tacoma/Pt. Defiance ferry as you will pass it on your way to the property. There a galleries, shops and restaurants in the town of Vashon and also in Burton. Vashon Center for the Arts, O-Space and the Chamber of Commerce have events that might be of interest. Bikes, E-bikes, paddle boards and kayaks can be rented from Vashon Adventures and Vashon Bikes.They also rent tents and some camping equipment. Outdoor fires are by permission only. There are sometime burn bans for air quality and/or high fire danger. Generally, fires are allowed AT THE BEACH, below the high tide line, between October 1 and June 15, but there are various reasons they may not be allowed (air quality bans, windy conditions, etc.) Any fire you light must be put out COLD (no steam, no heat) with water and buried with sand before leaving them unattended. You are responsible for any damage or injuries caused by a fire you start, so please be careful! Please note: It is very important that the number of people on site is accurate. Please contact Hipcamp to change the number of people - there currently is no way to do that on the site?! There is an additional charge per person above the base 2 person rate. If for some reason hipcamp doesn't automatically add in this charge, so we will request it separately. It must be paid in full prior to arrival. There is no outdoor music at any time. Public RV dump site at Potlatch State Park - 14 miles. 17 mins to Hood Canal, 30 mins to Lake Cushman, 50 mins to the Staircase Entrance of Olympic National Park (33 miles). Perfect location for setting up camp with your RV, then taking your car up into the Olympics. Looking for dog-friendly hikes? Several Olympic National Forest and Skokomish Wilderness trails can be accessed from Lake Cushman, including Mt. Ellinor, Mt. Rose, and Mt. Washington. When returning to camp, enjoy what our property has to offer. Of the 11 acres, 10 acres are comprised of a Cat II wetland, a Cat III wetland, and their associated buffers. A legal trail winds down to Mill Creek just 1/4 mile downstream from the outlet of Lake Isabella. Here the creek is wide and it is permissible to hand launch non-motorized vessels (eg, kayaks, canoes). The stretch of creek between our property and the lake is conservation land, and a beaver dam crosses the creek, but kayakers can usually navigate over the beaver dam and paddle into Lake Isabella. The lake is over 200 acres and boasts Lake Isabella State Park and a Dept of Fish and Wildlife public boat launch. Our wetland is critical for maintaining local water quality and supporting the local shellfish industry; access is confined to the trail and creek access needs to be respectful and gentle. But if you pause for a moment or two along the trail or shoreline, you'll be rewarded as the local wildlife begin to stir from their hiding places. Song birds, rabbits, deer, voles -- yes. But also river otters, beavers, ducks, cormorants, and owls. Mountain lions and coyotes are possible, but we have not personally seen these. Salmon do run Mill Creek, as well. Dogs are permitted on the trail during summer, fall, and winter if leashed but should stay up near the RV site during spring to avoid disturbing nesting wildlife. Back at the RV site, there is a picnic table for outdoor cookouts (propane stoves are permissible). Inside the driveway circle is a large propane fire pit with half-moon seating on either side - perfect for roasting S'mores late into the evening. The majority of our outdoor lighting shuts down at midnight to allow for stargazing in a region remote from city lights. A 1-bed, 1-bath cottage is currently under construction, tucked into a cove of maple, hemlock, and alder. Availability expected in spring 2025. With just a single RV site, our nearest neighbor several acres away, and only State and County land between us and Hwy 101, you can expect a private stay in a forested setting with easy freeway access to the Olympics on one side of the property and an idyllic private creekside nature preserve on the other. The "Feathered Refuge" is an RV site located in the middle of 3 acres of solitude. This site is a rare find: your own private campground! If you are longing for complete quiet and privacy accompanied by the hoots of barred owls and the tweets of finches and camp robbers, you have found respite! You may even glimpse an occasional bald eagle. The camp-site is graveled and 24 feet long and approximately 10 feet wide. The way up is a bit of an adventure. Located on a low- elevation mountain ( 1700 feet elevation for the site), it is three miles of a windy dirt- and- traveled road. You will need 4WD or AWD with a lot of clearance. The site is located behind two locked gates, so the owner will greet you at the gate to the mountain. If you do not have the appropriate vehicle and wish to tent- camp, there is a site available for that as well, and arrangements can be made for parking at another property the owner has at the base of the mountain, for an additional fee of $30. (please bring cash or we can use paypal, as Hipcamp does not allow add-ons.) A porta-potty is provided, and you have access to the owner's patio for cooking or relaxing (between 3-7 PM). The site comes with a guest pass to the coveted Lake Cushman area, 2 lakes and several boat launches. The pass also provides access to the nice and clean showers at one of the two parks. Hoodsport is in an ideal location: 45 minutes north of Olympia, or two hours from Seattle, it's an easy and beautiful drive. It is also the Gateway to the Staircase area of the Olympic National Park, one of the top eight things to do in the " Pearl of the Northwest." Places to eat: Honeybee Pizzeria and Grinder, Hoodsport coffee company (best ice- cream outside of Seattle, with " Olympic Mountain ice- cream"), and the best Mexican food for miles is 25 minutes away in Union, WA, at "2 Margaritas." They have great karaoke! There is also a fabulous music scene in Union. During the day you can walk the three-mile loop around from our driveway, OR you can go through our two locked gates (with the owner and their key) to go climb Staircase (25 ms away) or head to Hood canal for some fishing or to Hoodsport for the incredible Olympic Mountain ice-cream Amenities: a. Patio: You can use the owner's patio during the day (9 AM -12:00 PM and 3:00-7:00 PM) to relax in style or to grill your meal ($15 add-on for cleaning the grill and providing the propane). b. There is a porta potty available c. You have access to the Lake Cushman lakes and full restroom with showers (Lake Cushman or Lake Kokanee), when attended by the owner through the gateson Dow Mountain. c. You will be given a guest pass by the owner for the duration of your stay, when provided a $75 refundable cash deposit for the pass (paypal is also accepted). d. Small boat parking: there is secondary parking available at a lot on pavement which you can leave over-night for an additional fee of $30/ night. Please note: You will need a 4wd for your truck as the road from the pavement is a gravel road 3 miles long.
