The moment we arrived, we knew we made the right choice. Laura's place is set in a well maintained, quiet, gated community. The camp sight feels secluded and private, while offering a level spot for any camper. If you are looking for a serene place to chill out, while enjoying the sun and the sounds of nature, this is your place. Cell service works well enough for downloading but not enough for streaming. Bonus, there are good walking trails in the local area. You can visit Mt. St. Helen's in roughly an hours drive or travel to Mt. Rainier in about 1.5 hours. I would highly recommend Laura's place. She and her family were welcoming to sharing their property while ensuring space and privacy. If we are back in this area, we will definitely stay again.

We stayed here with our 22 foot travel trailer. I would recommend backing into the site as others have stated, as pulling straight in can limit you options for positioning. I made this mistake which made it quiet tricky as I had to back myself out. The small shed over the picnic table was such an excellent addition to this site to give my dogs a place to dry off before coming back in the trailer. Having water, electric AND sewer at a Hipcamp site was particularly impressive even though we didn’t use the sewer. The site in general was very well maintained and I think it’s a perfect site as a base camp for exploring further into the area or as a good starting spot for a BDR adventure

We love Camp Cushman! The location is convenient to so many outdoor recreation areas and interests. We explored Hood canal, Mt Walker, Lake Cushman and even discovered there is a disc golf course close by so bring your disc's! Byron is a great host and very communicative. The camp is private, we'll maintained. Having an extra bathroom was a bonus! We loved being surrounded by trees, birds of all kinds, lungwort, mushrooms and the resident deer family. The sky was perfect for skywatching and it was so quiet! We look forward to our next stay at Camp Cushman🌿

Beautiful campsite overlooking Riffe Lake! We really enjoyed the views, proximity to town and surrounding trails and hikes like Swofford Flats and Mossyrock Park. Ike Kinswa State Park was about a 25 minute drive that had a fantastic trail by the river. Laura was so hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed. The site is private and spacious which was great for our doggies! We look forward to coming back!

We loved camping here in our RV! It was a quiet retreat. We woke up to four deer out our front window walking through the property! We loved seeing all the stars in the dark of the night. I had a workshop in the Winlock area. This was a very convenient location. Easy to get in and out of. Nicely graveled and level site with full hook up. Host was very helpful in assisting me with a little problem I had. Located in a very rural area but not far off I-5, and a good restaurant and coffee stop. Safe and quiet.

This was our second stay at Camp Cushman. We've had stellar experiences both times. Byron is professional, accommodating, and responsive, and it's obvious he cares and has put a lot of work into improving the property and making it a true gem of a place to relax and enjoy a lovely getaway. Starlink internet is a game changer since cell service out here is spotty and I appreciate that amenity so much. There's also a flush toilet and two sinks (one outside), and full RV hook-ups! The property is very private and there's so much space for us and the pups to spread out and have fun. Will definitely be back!

Easy on/off from US 101 at SR 3 (Shelton). Pull-through RV Site can accommodate most RV lengths**. Electric and potable water hook-ups. Public RV dump site at Potlatch State Park - 14 miles. 17 mins to Hood Canal, 30 mins to Lake Cushman, 50 mins to the Staircase Entrance of Olympic National Park (33 miles). Perfect location for setting up camp with your RV, then taking your car up into the Olympics. Looking for dog-friendly hikes? Several Olympic National Forest and Skokomish Wilderness trails can be accessed from Lake Cushman, including Mt. Ellinor, Mt. Rose, and Mt. Washington. When returning to camp, enjoy what our property has to offer. Of the 11 acres, 10 acres are comprised of a Cat II wetland, a Cat III wetland, and their associated buffers. A legal trail winds down to Mill Creek just 1/4 mile downstream from the outlet of Lake Isabella. Here the creek is wide and it is permissible to hand launch non-motorized vessels (eg, kayaks, canoes). The stretch of creek between our property and the lake is conservation land, and a beaver dam crosses the creek, but kayakers can usually navigate over the beaver dam and paddle into Lake Isabella. The lake is over 200 acres and boasts Lake Isabella State Park and a Dept of Fish and Wildlife public boat launch. Our wetland is critical for maintaining local water quality and supporting the local shellfish industry; access is confined to the trail and creek access needs to be respectful and gentle. But if you pause for a moment or two along the trail or shoreline, you'll be rewarded as the local wildlife begin to stir from their hiding places. Song birds, rabbits, deer, voles -- yes. But also river otters, beavers, ducks, cormorants, and owls. Mountain lions and coyotes are possible, but we have not personally seen these. Salmon do run Mill Creek, as well. Dogs are permitted on the trail during summer, fall, and winter if leashed but should stay up near the RV site during spring to avoid disturbing nesting wildlife. Back at the RV site, there is a picnic table for outdoor cookouts (propane stoves are permissible). Inside the driveway circle is a large propane fire pit with half-moon seating on either side - perfect for roasting S'mores late into the evening. The majority of our outdoor lighting shuts down at midnight to allow for stargazing in a region remote from city lights. A 1-bed, 1-bath cottage is currently under construction, tucked into a cove of maple, hemlock, and alder. Availability expected in spring 2025. With just a single RV site, our nearest neighbor several acres away, and only State and County land between us and Hwy 101, you can expect a private stay in a forested setting with easy freeway access to the Olympics on one side of the property and an idyllic private creekside nature preserve on the other. We welcome you to share this place we call home. In omnibus rebus serviunt Terrae, non homini. ** Larger RV's would pull-in/back-out to avoid the tear-drop curve at the end of the driveway (please see photos). Driveway entrance is 22' wide, first curve is 18' wide and gradual, leading to RV site if pulling in -- best option for Class A's. Ranier’s legendary winter sports, with hiking, fishing and festivals all both here and nearby, our farm provides a perfect Base Camp for your any-season getaway! Your campsite has 15a power and water, and gravel parking, and is located by the beautiful Western style brown barn at the end of Naylor Road (at the "End of County Road" sign). Note that the site has been leveled but is NOT perfectly level; it is however within the typical leveling ability of RVs at the size limits stated. The farm is located on a steep hillside (12% grade); there is only so much we can do. But the stunning views more than make up for any inconvenience, in our experience. Ovis Aries is the scientific name for “domestic sheep”, and indeed, we raise Romney sheep of all colors on our farm! You may also meet our sweet and friendly Morgan Horse mare, Naya, who likes to follow visitors around like a very large dog. We also have a small orchard with apples, persimmons, cherries, blueberries, and a pear, peach and almond tree beside the barn. We farm using organic, no-till, permaculture, silvopasture and forest grazing practices, and the sheep are entirely grass-fed, producing meat of the healthiest-possible quality. If fiber arts is your jam, we have a beautiful wool workshop, with a 40" 4-shaft, 6-harness Louet Hollandia floor loom, a 32" Harp rigid heddle loom, 5 spinning wheels, a drum carder, and numerous other fiber tools for scouring, prepping, spinning, dyeing, weaving, felting and knitting wool. One on one and small group classes are available with reservations. We also have a business center, including fast StarLink Wi-Fi. Farm Tours are given on request.
