We had the most magical stay at the tiny house. Darryl and Linda were truly so hospitable and warm. It’s clear they love the land and the creatures that inhabit it. We especially loved the big window by the loft bed and making breakfast on the stove. Can’t wait to come back and stay again! Thanks so much again ⭐️

My girlfriend and I had such an amazing time at Darryl's tiny cabin. It was so fun to tend to the wood stove and enjoy the beautiful nature around us. We felt very cozy and comfortable.

The outside of the house and sitting area. Daryll has chairs there so we didn’t have to bring our! That was helpful as we have a Honda Fit!

Two best nights of sleep in so long. What an adorable cabin. We loved every minute of it. Be prepared to bring backup charging for your devices if you need it, there’s only solar electric with USB-A ports. We only had USB-C so were without phones, etc. (it was a welcome problem to be honest!) Great spot, I’m definitely coming back! We heard owls, Sandhill cranes, I saw several hawks and an eagle. It was so nice.

Great stay with beautiful scenery. Despite our late arrival at dark, we were well welcomed to the shed by Kurt. We were advised about the 4x4 suggestion to get to it but because of the post winter rain we opted to ride along in their ATVs. The shed was in great shape and well insulated, the wood stove did a great job even for those 30 degree nights. All amenities and many supplies were offered. Plenty of open land to hike and watch great scenery. Overall great hosts and response time for a great stay, definitely recommended.

we had a lovely weekend here. there is almost anything here you might need for a quiet weekend away. it is secluded enough to feel private and cozy, even in the winter with bare trees. a major plus is that you don’t have to worry about staying warm inside, even with very low outside temps. we hope to be back soon!

We loved our winter adventure in the yurt. We appreciated that we had little to no cell service where we were at(AT&T), had the landline phone in case of emergencies, and that pretty much everything that's needed was provided. Ashley was great in answering a couple questions beforehand, and everything was clean and well cared for. Our kids (3 & 5) absolutely loved the yurt and being there. Highly recommend.

Excellent tiny cabin! We felt so good in that space. You can tell it was built with love, and it's extremely well built and solid. The little wood burning heater kept us super toasty, the bed was really comfy... Will come back

5 nights at Cozy Lofted Barn Retreat

Kim and David's lofted barn was the perfect winter hideaway. They put so much effort into their property and the barn, and it shows--the loft is incredibly comfortable, even at freezing temps. We stayed five nights, and got to see some fantastic winter mists, beautiful sunsets, and STARS. So many stars! Kim makes a phenomenal breakfast, so do yourself a favor and take advantage of that during your stay. The amenities are great--camp stove, sink, and camp toilet located on the lower floor of the barn. Eau Claire is a short drive away, with tons of beautiful trails and walking paths. Thanks again Kim, David, Izzy and Lula! We loved staying with you!

2 nights at Purplehaze Acres

Despite the mud and rain, we had a lovely time staying in this tiny cabin and walking through the woods or Darryl's land. Darryl was communicative and informative and the cabin itself is adorable - the loft bed is comfortable, the woodstove was cozy (and toasty - keep in mind the heat rises for when you're going to sleep - we had to open the window), and things like the water pump and composting toilet were great. Though I recommend bringing some extra filtered water as the filter itself was very slow and priming the pump takes a bit of effort each time you want to use it. I would also keep in mind that this is a pet friendly place (which was great for us bringing our small dog), so naturally there will be animal hair around - in case you're allergic it may not be the best fit for you. Would love to come back again and also see the woods in the warmer months/check out some of the tent sites!

This place was fantastic, and it’s my first time using Hipcamp. Airbnb isn’t what it used to be, so I have this listing a shot. The host was very gracious and left tons of thoughtful things around the cabin one may need — cleaning supplies, extra blankets, extra water, pots and pans, firewood, etc. you can the all of the love and history that was put into the property. The greenhouse behind the use doesn’t look to be in use, but it has to be one of the coolest off grid designs I’ve ever seen, so cool! No complaints, 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for something more off-grid yet comfortable. Also— can I live here? Thanks!

Our family purchased this land for adventure. We would love to share our adventure with you. Groomed UTV/hiking trails on our property. Hiking access into Duck Egg county park with over 10 miles of trails to explore on 900 acres. Drive and park directly at our cabin nestled in the driftless. It is totally private on 140 acres. Watch the wildlife from the porch while enjoying a campfire. The cabin offers 2 queen beds on the loft, a futon and fully stocked kitchen. Outdoor bathroom with plumbing. We offer 2 campsites directly on the Bad Axe River with hike in or utv assist access only. Park at designated parking area. The campsite has fire ring and table and chairs at the site, firewood available for 10/night. 5 gallons potable water provided. Hike in or purchase utv assist to get gear to the site $20 both ways We also have a 'glampsite' which already has a 10x12 wall tent on a 12x20 platform, with a queen bed and all bedding included. 10 gallons potable water provided. An outdoor kitchen contains everything you need to lessen your packing for a total relaxed and spoiled camping experience, all paper products and cookware in stocked kitchen. Charcoal and grill, 24" gas griddle, 2 burner coleman stove with propane included. Glamp directly on the river. - Cabin Available Year Round - Campground Open May 1 - Oct 31 Tucked in a valley among rolling hills just 70 miles east of St. Paul, discover a stunning sanctuary surrounded by hardwoods, pines and birch groves. Meander a walking trail system through 30 acres of woods and prairie. In 2019, all 10 acres of fields were planted as dedicated Monarch/pollinator habitat. This is a full sensory experience - flowered meadow and spectacular celestial nights with serenading hoot owls, frogs, crickets and yips of coyotes in the distance. Our chickens do their daily forage through the yard and woods. This is a birder's delight turkey and deer being very common sightings. Our unique greenhouse and pergola are common use areas for all guests to enjoy. The pergola is a large cushioned area providing shade to read a book, charge a device, play cards, enjoy a beverage, eat a meal. Explore the greenhouse production of tomatoes, peppers, and ginger growing along with flowers and other hothouse varieties. Fill water containers, or use the large stainless steel sink (hot/cold water) and countertops to prep meals or wash up. You will also find a beverage service counter, yard games for use, and any on-farm items for sale in this area- firewood, plants, eggs and produce. Tucked discreetly behind the greenhouse is 1 of 2 drop-offs for garbage and recycling, and also 1 of 2 ultra clean port-a-potties found on property. *** We're family friendly! Adult occupancy is applied to 13 years and older. There is no occupancy charge/limit for children 12 years of age or under. *** We have 6 sites to offer. Providing a historical backdrop is a fully restored Norwegian cabin built in 1894 (completed July 2022). Adjacent to the greenhouse is 2 RV (or tent) sites with full water and 30 amp hookups (Meadow Camp East and West). 2 additional sites accommodate RVs or tents. (Hill Camp and Sumac Camp). One of which is a very large area that is ideal for groups (Sumac Camp). Lastly, we have 1 walk-in tent site, the most private (Pine Camp), a short distance into the woods behind the greenhouse. Don't let our sleepy little town deceive you. The locals have huge hearts - are generous creatives, with ingenious businesses that spill over with hospitality. Uber local is 2 Amish businesses within a 15 minute walk - a bakery and a woodworking shop. We're happy to direct you to other local highlights: on-farm meat sales, herbal apothecary, goat milk products, home goods, local microbreweries and quilt shops to name a few. This beautiful property is on the foothills of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. There are an abundance of natural areas such as a fen, creek, pond and walking trails.
