We are the largest Arabian horse rescue in the United States. We are on 100 acres, but are currently using only 10 fenced acres for our horses. We have an average of 75 horses on our property. Most live in larger areas or paddocks in group "herds". We focus on rehabilitation and training with the goal of finding permanent homes for our horses. However, we have about 30+ horses who are "sanctuary horses", either because they are older, or were traumatized, or have health issues, thus will not be rideable. They get to live their lives out with us. Learn more about this land: Come pitch your tent on our horse rescue ranch. Two spots are near our little Western Town, you can even sleep in the jail or inside the general store. Another location is near the horses or in a more secluded area. We have two spots to park RVs as well. You can visit with the horses, while enjoying some idyllic beautiful high desert vistas. At night, you can see the city lights from a distance, but it is far enough to really see the stars in the night sky (no light pollution). Please bring your own chairs. We have a serviced porta-potty with potable water access. Camp Fire: Because of fire danger, there are no campfires possible. We have a working gold mine across the street, that can be hiked up to, to a certain point. We have lots of desert trails surrounding us. Activities: Learn about horses and help at the horse rescue, feeding and watering, giving horses treats. All proceeds from your camping on our property goes to support the horses at our rescue.

Horse Ranch Camp Desert Paradise
Horse enthusiast's dream
My daughter and I had a most excellent stay at Camp Desert Paradise Vera was oh so helpful in guiding us in with directions, her daughter met us on a windy and cold night and said we could set up camp INSIDE the Jail (which we did and we glad to have the walls as a wind break), and horsewoman extraordinaire Hila allowed us to tag along and lend a hand with the horses on morning rounds. I admit, we were there for the equine experience, so I didn't get much of a feel for how it would be for a chill camping experience-other than a BEAUTIFUL sunrise and stars. Clean water, clean Outhouse, and the jail hit the jackpot that night as we were tent camping. There are many horses to meet and love on, so If you are looking for a place that can offer heart and insight into horse rescue work or looking to adopt one of the beautiful Arabian horses, Vera and her Camp Desert paradise is a MUST.

Camping at Vera's place
My sister and I loved camping here! Our camping site was spacious and the western town was really cute and provided some privacy. The portable toilet was clean and had handwashing. You're surrounded by horses, donkeys, dogs, and the desert which were all beautiful. Vera and her family/volunteers have big hearts and give so much to their rescue animals. Thank you for a great stay!

A must-visit for horse lovers!
What a neat experience! My kids loved being surrounded by horses and camping in the little old west town on Vera's property. It was windy but luckily we were able to fit our tent into one of the little buildings. It was a good stopping point on our way down from Central CA to Joshua Tree.

Camping with horses!
The property was exactly as expected-a working horse rescue. My kids enjoyed being able to volunteer with Vera and her workers taking care of the horses!

Vera is a wonderful host
Vera's place is a peaceful animal lover's paradise. We were welcomed upon arrival, and set up camp near the quaint "western town". We got a tour of the horse rescue property including where to get potable water and the bathroom facilities. We met horses, donkeys, dogs, and a shy barn cat. We slept well under an incredible blanket of stars and Vera was an amazing host!
