15 acres of land right nestled up against South Mountain, on an ecologically-minded property where we are building a sustainability education center. From your campsite, you'll have a sweeping view of the Topa Topa mountain range, as well as a birds eye view of our community farm. Site has access to a geodesic dome, a funky spot to hang out, meditate, do yoga, or picnic. There is one electric outlet to plug into. Behind the site is South Mountain, where you can scramble, look for fossils from the Sespe range (20 million years old) and enjoy some peace and quiet.Pitch your tent or park your campervan (a large RV would be challenging) on a beautiful plateau beneath the face of South Mountain. You'll have the hill to yourself, and can enjoy sweeping views and seclusion. For those bringing small animals, know that there are coyotes and the occasional bobcat, so keep pets within sight - esp at dawn and dusk! The site is just 10 minutes from downtown Santa Paula, with an historic main street, restaurants, and old town charm, close to several hiking areas, and a 40 minute drive to Ojai. With prior arrangement with hosts, we can offer a dinosaur tour for kids and interested folks of our collections, 8 partial triceratops and a fabrication lab where we are 3D printing missing bones, and offer a small piece of dinosaur bone as a keepsake. We are working to build a science center in Ventura County, our garage/warehouse is full of artifacts, including what must be the largest collection of late-cretaceous dinosaurs in the County! For film buffs, this property was the former ranch of actor/hearthrob Steve McQueen.

Santa Paula Eco-Farm Tent/Campsite
This was the coolest campsite I’ve stayed at in years! I got this trip as a gift for my nature-loving partner, and was not disappointed. The area is absolutely teeming with life, and someone who enjoys birdwatching it was great to see so many varieties flying around. We even got a few visits from owls perched on the dome above our tent at dawn (a great horned AND a barn owl, what a treat!). Our hosts were lovely, communicative, and Marcus’s tour around their dinosaur workshop was a real highlight. Looking forward to seeing what they do with this place in the future :)

Unbeatable view of the mountain on one side, beautiful city lights on the other! It was chilly and overcast during the last weekend of May, but tent camping next to the mountain offered such a majestic view.  The geodesic dome added a unqiue hangout spot for us, especially for our 5 y.o. Despite arriving relatively late in the evening, Host Anna and her daughter took the extra time and effort to show my family the much anticipated dinosaur fossils just a short walk down from the campsite!  Their knowledge/ passion for conservation is inspiring!  We also had the neat experience of getting to hang out with the goats (including two baby ones) when the staff handler let them out to graze! As for amenities, while no toilet is provided and fires are not permitted, there are multiple electrical outlets and a water spigot (a short walk away from where we set up our tent near the geodesic structure) that provided much appreciated convenience (electrical hookups were stable enough to power multiple low-power appliances, such as a rice cooker, kettle, and stringed lights). There were not many trees so establishing shade might be needed during hotter weather. Overall, we appreciated both the peaceful privacy at the campsite and freedom to explore the property.  We hope to be back soon!

A very special stay
A really lovely backdrop right in nature and yet not far from the little town or Los Angeles. We used the water and electric with no issues. My sons, husband and I were so inspired by Anna & Marcus special collection of fossils as well. A real treat and probably our fav hipcamp so far!
