Our land is unique in the variety of vegetation: pines, oaks, palms, citrus, chaparral. We are conveniently centrally located to many daily adventures. The Chumash painted cave is near by as well as the rock playground Lizards Mouth. We are on the old stage coach trail, and only five minutes from Cold Springs Tavern.Welcome to Sky Mountain! Our family is happy to share with you this beautiful land in the Los Padres National Forest. Enjoy mountain and ocean views overlooking Santa Barbara. Camp among a unique variety of trees --palms, pines, oaks, & chaparral. Includes electricity, kitchen amenities, filtered water, composting toilet,  and internet and cellular service. Very beautiful & convenient location! Geo Dome: This beautiful 24 foot diameter geodesic dome can accommodate up to  2 people at this time. Parking for 1 car about 125 feet from site is available. There is a kitchen, and bucket compost toilet, and a garden hose to rinse off in. There is a sleeping loft and staircase that is not safe for small children. Glamping in a dome is an awesomely unique experience! Be aware that it can get hot during the day depending on the season and weather. Fires NOT allowed. Including smoking and anything with a flame. *Please read this entire post before booking. We are a health- and eco-conscience family aiming to live lightly on the land. We are pleased to be able to offer a place for like-minded travelers to come and enjoy a convenient and inspiring Glamping experience. Located in the beautiful mountains above Santa Barbara, the land is surrounded by nature yet conveniently close to a variety of fun things our area has to offer such as:• Cold Springs Tavern (5 min) -- lunch & dinner in a unique dining experience on the old Stage Coach Road• Lizard’s Mouth rock playground (12 min) -- bouldering and hiking • Santa Barbara beaches (15-20 min) -- Hendry’s Beach, Mesa Lane Beach, Leadbetter Beach, to name just a few!• Santa Barbara downtown & boat harbor (17 min)o General shopping and restaurants (10-12 min)• Santa Ynez Recreation Area (15 min) -- along Paradise Road, with swimming areas and hiking trails• Lake Cachuma (15 min) -- boating, fishing, and day use (but no swimming)• Danish town of Solvang (30 min) —Amenities: • Electricity: Available for charging phones, etc.• Wi-fi: High-speed internet • Kitchen: Filtered water, sink, refrigerator, induction cooktop, Instant Pot (pressure cooker for oatmeal/rice/beans/soups/etc.). Also supplied are bowls, plates, cups, and eating utensils.  • Toilet: Composting “Luggable Loo” bucket toilet provided Other Details and Considerations:➢ We are a family Hip Camp with children, pets (two dogs and a cat), and neighbors (about 275 feet away)➢ Road Noise -- We live close to Highway 154, which means we are close and quick to many places but also hear some traffic noise from this two-lane road. Please take this into consideration before booking. Most people aren’t too bothered by it (and some compare the sound to waves as they come and go).➢ FIRE BAN -- Absolutely no fire! We live in an extremely high-risk fire area with very dry vegetation, so no campfires, candles, smoking, incense, lighters, matches, etc. ➢ Arrival and departure -- Arrival between 4-9 pm. Departure by 12:00 pm. ➢ Quiet hours -- Very quiet from 10:30pm to 7:30am, Semi quiet in the evening from 9:00-10:30 and in the morning till 8:00 am. Thank you for your consideration of others and of our neighbors.➢ Musical instruments, or music—Live music is greatly welcomed! Playing pre-recorded music on devices is allowed if the volume is low and is used in consideration of others and during non-quiet hours.➢ Intoxicants -- Please no illegal drugs, smoking, or excessive use of alcohol. This is a sacred space.➢ Parking – We have a somewhat bumpy driveway that is quite steep with parking at the top. ➢

Thanks so much Zela for hosting us! We had a beautiful girls weekend in the glamping dome, which was fun and comfortable. It's truly a great setup. :)

Fantastic geodesic dome!
Extraordinary location, beautifully accommodated. Be aware, getting in is a little tricky of you have the wrong vehicle but the location is absolutely worth the hike!

Santa Barbara - Sky Mountain Dome
Dome with amazing vibes
This dome is amazing. It’s setup so nice and has such a good vibe. Zela has done an awesome job with the lighting and making every part of it comfy. I love the outdoor bathroom and shower but I understand that isn’t for everyone. The best part is once you turn the lights off you can see outside and it feels like you’re sleeping under the stars. Great host and amazing dome.

Santa Barbara - Sky Mountain Dome
Mid
We were quite underwhelmed by our stay. If you struggle with cold, allergies, freeway noises, or mud, think twice. I wouldn’t have minded these things if it didn’t cost as much a standard hotel in Santa Barbara proper. The unit is full of fur. If you’re sensitive to pet dander, this is NOT the place for you. They allow pets and you can tell. My partner and I are pet sitters so we’re used to being around many animals, but we were sneezing and stuffed up the entire time we were in the dome. The fur and dust has clearly been accumulating, and the space could use a good cleaning. Overall, it felt like we were in a big tent with some holes in it and we were camping by a freeway. While they do provide a space heater, you should bring warm clothing anyways. Not only can you feel the cold drafty air seep into the dome, you can hear every car struggle to climb up 154, the mountain freeway right next door. It’s a steep mountain so the cars rev their engines going up. As cars pass, headlights will flash onto the ceiling of the dome. Bring noise cancelling headphones (concert earplugs weren’t enough for us), eye mask, and warm clothes for sleeping. We’ve stayed in many domes & this was the least insulated. We would’ve been happy paying half the price for this space for what it is. It just seemed too low effort and quirky for our liking. It’s hard to justify staying here as it was the comfort level of camping with the cost of a midrange hotel. C’est la gentrification :,)

CAMPING WITH FUR FRIENDS!
This place was so unique! Had so many friends ask where I was staying because of how it was built. Definitely coming back once their bigger dome is done with construction in the future! My dogs loved the place more than they love their own home 🫠
