Sweetwater River Resort is located on the Arkansas river, 30 minutes from Canyon City and 30 minutes from Salida where Hwy 50 follows the river through Bighorn Canyon. Skiers, we are only 40 miles from Monarch Ski Resort. You’ll enter a different world–a sanctuary away from the fast pace and pressures of ordinary life. Sweetwater River Resort is a nature-lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and fly fishing fanatic’s dream nestled on the banks of the beautiful juniper-lined Arkansas River. You’ll find uncrowded sites to unwind with plenty of rivers to explore outside the confines of city life. At night you’ll find the clearest skies around, perfect for stargazing. CORRAL #1

Camping on the River!

We loved our spot overlooking the Arkansas River. The staff was very helpful and the bathroom was clean, didn’t have bugs, and was more spacious than what we are used to. This spot is located close to amazing outdoor adventures. It was really cool to white water raft past our spot! Definitely would come back!

T-06 TENT SITE

This is a beautiful place right by the Arkansas River. We think the bridge was super fun, there's a small cart to help you get all your stuff across the river, awesome! We had a great time and will be back for sure!

RV Mtn. 2 - 50amp pull-through

Great spot

Great spot to camp about equal distance between Cañon city and Salida. Enjoyed relaxing evenings around the fire with the sound of the river flowing by: really enjoyed our stay. The camp host was great! Friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were clean and in good order. Fire pit and bbq were nice to have. We will be back!

T-07 TENT SITE

We love the area, although there wasn't much shade. We love the river, the suspension bridge and the host. The host was very helpful and gave us everything we needed when ask. Place is quiet, place is clean. we would love to comeback

RV River 7 - 30amp pull-through

Excellent Location

This was a beautiful location right on the river and surrounded by mountains. It was close enough to Canyon City and the Royal Gorge that we visited both, but far enough out that we could see millions of stars and really enjoy getting away. The bathrooms were clean and lovely and the Host was helpful and kind. We will be back!
