Briggs' Beryl Desert Retreat

5 sites · RVs, Tents40 acres · Beryl Junction, UT
I am a beekeeper and a bit of a wild person. One day, I hope to develop this place into a beautiful self sustaining farm and home for all my bees and outdoor retreat for the peoples. Learn more about this land: Welcome to a great wide open desert retreat. Do as you please! No one is going to bother you. Let the animals loose, roll out the off road vehicles, ride bikes, and build a fire and enjoy that peaceful good outdoor life.  The old Spanish trail can be found nearby for hiking and/or biking and there are mountains and cool wildlife all around in the valley. The stars all pop completely present with no light pollution to spoil them.  Additionally, Southern Utah has so many other trails and beautiful places all over in almost any direction. Zion National Park is only a little over an hour drive away down I-15. I highly recommend Kanarraville Falls as well, as it's at most only 30 minutes away. *** Getting to the property: It is directly off of the "main" road which consists of a well kept wide dirt road. The GPS location will guide you straight there to an intersecting road with a stop sign called 1200 E which runs south the "main" road/4800 N/AKA Antelope Springs Rd. At this intersection, there is a trail running north marked with an orange post for fiber cable. That trail and road marks the bottom left corner of the property if you're facing north. Follow the trail and find your way anywhere on the right side, there are already some campsites made up, but you are also welcome to make your own to your hearts desire. Be mindful of your vehicle, cars can drive the trail but there is always a risk of getting stuck. You can also park on the main road as you are already at the property anyway and can just walk in a little ways to set up your camp. **It's important to be aware of any fire warnings for Iron County, Utah. Do a Google search for fire threats and it should be the first thing you see. Most of the time, large bonfires will be highly discouraged. Use good judgment when building a fire of any size.  *Cedar City is a straight shot East if you need any medical attention.

Sea of Sagebrush and Dirt

1 site · RV, Tent2 acres · Beryl Junction, UT
Primitive camping. There is no paved parking and no specific spot for your RV or tent. There is no RV pad and no RV hookups. Just dirt and sage brush. Do not expect paved parking. You will need a shovel to clear your own spot to park your RV or put your tent. This is very rustic. Here is a great opportunity for people who love camping! This land is located in Beryl Junction, Utah. It is a flat sage desert, which is perfect for those who want to experience the beauty of nature. The vast expanse of the desert provides ample space for both tent and RV camping. The clear skies and the serene environment make it an ideal location for stargazing and enjoying the tranquility of the outdoors. You can expect to wake up to the sound of birds chirping and the warm sun shining on your face. The desert is home to a variety of flora and fauna, so you might even spot some wildlife during your stay. The flat terrain makes it easy to set up camp and explore the area. You can take a leisurely hike or bike ride, or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. This property is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in nature.

The best camping near Echo Canyon State Park guide

Overview

About

Once used by the ancient Fremont people as a seasonal hunting and fishing grounds, and later settled by early pioneers, Echo Canyon State Park is a popular recreation destination in southeastern Nevada today. The 65-acre Echo Canyon Reservoir offers some of the best fishing in the region, and is stocked with rainbow trout, largemouth bass, crappie, and German brown. Boating, swimming, picnicking, and wildlife watching are also popular. The Ash Canyon trail lets visitors explore the park’s backcountry, while two campgrounds offer more than 50 sites for tent and RV campers with full hookups, flush toilets, drinking water, and a dump station.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for RV campers: The park’s RV campground offers 20 full hookup sites, flush toilets, and a dump station.
  • Best for tent campers: The Echo Canyon north campground offers 33 sites, flush toilets, and drinking water.
  • Best for views: Set on a hill, the RV campground offers great views overlooking Dry Valley.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Arrive earlier in the day, especially during peak periods, since all campsites are first-come, first-served.
  2. If you are flexible with timing, try visiting during the week and during off-peak and non-holiday times.
  3. If you’re in an RV and don’t need hookups, try the larger north campground.

When to go

The park is open year-round. Summer is the most popular time to visit the park and its reservoir, and ranger talks are also available at this time. At the height of summer, reservoir levels may drop too low to use the boat ramp, though boats can still be launched from shore. Thunderstorms can be common over the summer. Winters can be cold, and snowfall is common, which can affect road and other access.

Know before you go

  • The park offers limited amenities, while gas, groceries, and fishing licenses are available at Pioche.
  • Only camp in designated areas, and light fires in provided fire rings and grills. Collecting firewood is prohibited.
  • Pets are welcome but must be kept on a six-foot leash.
  • OHV use is permitted within the park.
  • A Nevada fishing license is required.
