Spacious, level camping well-suited for travel trailers over 40 ft long.
Padilla Ranch is a 375 acre historical ranch that includes the ruins of the Tajique Indian Pueblo which dates back at least to the 1500's. 50 acres will be designated for HIP CAMP. In the Tewa language, Tahiki means"where the grasslands meet the forest." It is one of the oldest pueblos, if not the oldest, pueblos in the United States. The natural feature of Padilla Ranch is it is located on the East slopes of the Manzano Mountain range and contains numerous pinon, junipers, pine and oakbrush trees that provide perfect environment for such wild life as elk and deer. The Tajique Creek runs through the Padilla Ranch & is generally a live stream and includes a dam which furnishes water for the Tajique acequia system (which is a historic irrigation system) . Padilla Ranch also contains numerous hiking trails, horseback riding trails nearby. The Manzano Mountain wildness is located approximately 7 miles west of Padilla Ranch in the Cibola National forest where in the Fall, there is a large maple, oak and aspen forest, which is one of the largest in the country. Spacious Wilderness camping is one of the most attractive features of Padilla Ranch for tent and other forms of outdoor camping.

Site 1 - Padilla Ranch! Trees & open spaces
Someone was there to meet us upon arrival and take us down the road to the campsite. Nice shade & water/electricity hook ups for the rv. Good stay. Thanks!

Bummed
We were doing a campout night so my son could earn his badge for his Trail Life troop. He had to do all the essentials on his own. We showed up, could not find our campsite #1. The instructions said we would be greeted, we were not, so we could not be directed. I had texted a few times (through hipcamp) as to our arrival time when we were on our way. We left 2 messages, and a text message after our arrival. We even knocked on the door of the mobile home on site. We stayed as long as we could, but it was getting dark and we needed to get a camp set up. We tried 2 nearby camp sites but they were of course already full. So we decided to bite the bullet and go back home. Unfortunately made it home at 11pm and my son did not fulfill his requirements for his badge. We were disappointed.

We enjoyed our stay on Pat's land very much--it's a beautiful property, both open and wooded, with a stream running through it and herds of elk. The hookups for electricity and water were convenient, the sites were secluded and spacious, and there was plenty of firewood. Pat and Wanda are gracious hosts. It's definitely worth a day trip while you are there to see the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument about a half hour away.

Nice and quiet
Pat and Wanda were wonderful hosts! They even strung some lights for us when they knew we would be back late. We had a wonderful time. The site was quiet, the campers friendly and the weather beautiful. The camp is a work in progress, and I am excited to see their plans come to fruition. Thank you both again!
