Only 10 minutes from Cherry Plain State Park, Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm/ Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC is a 150 acre hidden destination for outdoor adventurers, families and solo campers. We are a safe place for women who are traveling alone. We ensure everyone's quiet experience by not publishing our actual address. Please note: We ask for photo ID for all Hipcamp bookings. Once we receive your photo ID via text we will provide exact directions to our property. Please plan to check in no later than 4:30pm as we are not available for later check ins unless we agree to meet you. It is dark at 5pm so early check in is critical. Active duty police and combat veteran/ active duty military who book with us will receive a 50% discount. We host NYS Police along with local police/sheriff deputies here through our organization Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC. Don't be surprised if you see a NYS trooper or police unit parked up in the field near the horses. Fires: We allow small fires in specific spots, namely the fire ring at Camping on Blueberry Hill, at Ft Sky and inside the Tipi. Campsite fires are allowed weather permitting, when it's not windy and must be kept small. If it's windy then you can still have a fire in the tipi. No large fires or bonfires. All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. Fire safety is necessary to keep everything safe here for all of us. Thank you for understanding. Here in the mountains we can experience very cold nights. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood (not live trees) in our forests. Winter is coming soon. Please bring lots of clothes and layers. Stay warm! Smoking: We are primarily a non-smoking/vaping farm and appreciate you smoking/vaping in your vehicle not on our premises please. Partying: Nope not us. Our farm is peaceful and quiet and so are our neighbors. Please party elsewhere and come here to relax in the blissful quiet of nature. Quiet music, just playing some Spotify tunes and acoustic musicians are welcome here. There's a great bar restaurant 5 minutes from us, "17 Cherry Plain Sq". Live music, great food and something like 40 beers on tap. Party there then chill out here with us. Breakfast and the best beef this side of the Mississippi can be found at Gardners Cafe and Icecream Shop only 5 miles up 22 South from our place. You can enjoy a big fat omelet with homefries and bacon then grab frozen hamburg and steaks from Gardner's own local beef grown wild and free outside. Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm is adjacent to miles of public forest. Peace and solace can be found in these quiet mountains. In addition to amazing hiking, backpacking mountain biking, road biking right from your Hipcamp site, with kayaking nearby. We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail. Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Come share our paradise, bring your outdoor adventurer gear (you will be glad you did) and we will share our favorite local destinations with you. We ask that all hipcampers who are primary guests be 21 years of age or over. Children are welcome but we will not knowingly rent to anyone under 21 years of age. There is a $50 additional charge for garbage left at our farm including cigarette butts (we are a no smoking farm!), broken glass, bottles, cans, plastics, containers, bags and other trash. This is a pack in and pack out working farm not a party spot. Renting from us constitutes your reading of our rules attached to each property, your understanding and your agreement of our policies. Thank you so much for your understanding. We welcome you who seek quiet and the solace found in nature.Pin does not show actual location. You must text photo ID for directions. For those who want to camp without the hassle of setting up a tent, the Mountain Tipi camping/farm experience is our best feature here. Sweet curious horses, friendly goats and a beautiful livestock guardian dog live within viewing distance of this incredibly cozy spot. The Mountain Tipi is located up high with spectacular sunsets. Our 22 foot tipi includes a hot, wood burning fire pit, designed like a rocket stove for less smoke. The large metal fire pit has two removable grates for grilling meat and cooking with a frying pan or big pot. (Please remember to bring these kitchen accessories with you as we do not supply cooking supplies). A brand new tipi liner was just added to ensure extra warmth and coziness for campers moving into late fall/ early winter. This additional liner makes the tipi feel more like a yurt with an open ceiling. Please note: When it's raining, the tipi can get wet on the inside in parts. If the fire chimney is open for a fire, then more water can come in. Please plan your trip to avoid torrential rain storms unless you have an additional small tarp to use inside the tipi, if you want to remain completely dry and have a fire. Late fall/early winter in the mountains here is very cold at night, sometimes below freezing. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood in our forests. Feel free to bring your own firewood, as long as no state restrictions apply. These mountains can be up to 15 degrees colder than more populated areas. Please bring lots of clothes and layers to stay warm! Privately owned hiking trails include direct access to NYS DEC land for an unlimited hiking experience. You can hike literally for miles right outside the tipi door. Look up the Taconic Crest Hiking Club website for more information regarding topography here. We hope you have a wonderful stay if you do choose to visit our farm. Take care, and have a great day.

Julie and Jerome were very responsive hosts! The property is beautiful with horses and goats and a beautiful dog to watch over the property.I wanted to try camping in a Tipi and the experience was better than expected.A large comfortable space with a fire pit inside kept my dog and I comfortable…Nature at its best.I would recommend and stay again!

Mountain Tipi
We loved this spot, beautiful property and the tipi had everything we needed, cots, a lovely firepit stocked with firewood, lots of chairs for sitting around the fire and stargazing. There were goats and horses right next to the tipi and we went on a nice walk and saw the leaves changing. Highly recommend!

Camp on Blackberry Hill
Julie’s campground was beautiful! She’s a fantastic host, I booked the Blackberry Hill spot and because we were getting rain and there wasn’t anyone booking the teepee spot she was gracious enough to let us hangout in there. There were also goats and horses if you love animals! She gave great recommendations of local restaurants and hiking spots as well. Perfect spot for a relaxing weekend getaway

Camp on Blackberry Hill
Julie was very accommodating and responsive. She made sure we were set up at our site and gave us a quick tour of the rest. She gave recommendations for the area and local hikes/sights and was kind enough to provide firewood. The site was quiet and scenic and close enough to a local state park for swimming and hiking.
