Farm Island Recreation Area is a beacon of outdoor diversity—nature lovers of all kinds enjoy this place! The recreation area grants visitors straightforward access to Lake Sharpe, which has great beaches and some really lovely trails. Farm Island also has an island nature area. It’s sort of like a classroom, but outdoors. And there aren’t any tests. Explore the eight miles of hiking trails that traverse the island on two feet, two wheels, or two skis… no matter what, you’ll have a good time. Don’t come expecting solitude though. The park is pretty dang peaceful, but it does tend to be a busy place throughout the entire year.
The ideal time to visit Farm Island Recreation Area is during the warmer months, from late spring to early fall, when the park's full splendor is on display. Summer offers the perfect climate for water sports and hiking. Conversely, winters can be harsh, with limited access to some park areas due to snow and ice.
