Overview

About

Don't like water? Hate cold weather? Still love extreme sports? Welcome to Monahans Sand Dunes. Sand surfing, sand boarding, and sand sledding rule. It's just you, gravity, and some great sand dunes.

Everything is bigger in Texas, including this adult-sized sandbox. Dunes reach up to 70 feet high, while the park covers nearly 4,000 acres. Jog to the top before surfing, boarding, or sledding your way down.

You could even sculpt an obstacle course and some jumps if you really want to get creative. Bring your video camera and make your friends jealous. Even better, launch your drone to follow your path down the hill. Rent sand disks from the park headquarters if you forgot your board. There's also an 800-acre equestrian area for you and your steed to explore.

Reserve one of 26 campsites with water and electricity. Each site has some shade.
