Welcome to Moonrise Farmstead! You'll find our oasis just 15 minutes east of I-95 and Kings Dominion, 90 minutes south of DC, and 35 minutes north of Richmond. Featuring: - 3 campsites - 1 composting outhouse -Fire pits at each site -Spool table at each site. In addition to the campsites, we offer a 1/2 mile pasture walking loop. We hope you find this land peaceful and rejuvenating. Moonrise Farmstead is home to goats and chickens that we invite you to visit with during your stay. We also have a sometimes friendly cat, Orion and our loving farm dog Kaya who roam around. Farm tours are available by request. For the safety of our animals, please leave your pets at home, thank you! Please bring your own firewood and water.

Maple - Site 1

Wonderful farm and hospitality

We loved our stay on Meg and Ben's land! It was very peaceful and we enjoyed spending time at the farm; my daughter got to help feed the chickens, goats and barn cat! Her favorite thing may have been picking mulberries though :) Thanks Meg and Ben, we appreciate it!

Cedar - Site 2

Nice campsite!

This is a great primitive type camping spot. Great for traveling folks!! Compost bathroom is clean and doesn't smell. Lots of bugs, but that is part of any camping!! We had a great time and are thankful to our hosts!

Two thumbs up

This was our first trial of hipcamp, but it was definitely a winner. The sites were easy to find and well maintained. We were camping with kids and the goats were definitely a hit. We tent camped, but this site would easily work for a rooftop tent or camper van.

Oak - Site 3

Campsite was great! Soft ground for a tent, and really beautiful scenery. When the sun went down it became clear why it’s called Moonrise. Big sky over open fields for a stunning view of the night sky. Hosts greeted me and attended to the outhouse and were very kind. Would recommend.

Maple - Site 1

We had a great stay. Loved the touches like the outhouse and the fire rings. Walked to see the goats and chickens, which was another highlight. The road noise was a little loud, but we had music, which helped. Traffic seemed to die down quite a bit after about 10, though. Would definitely recommend.
