Site 2 - New River Yacht Club, LLC
Great Location, very friendly host!
Pros: Great location right by the river. John was extremely helpful and kind! We took advantage of renting fishing poles, kayaks and tubes during from John during our trip, and John took us to drop us off at the landing! We were able to float down in about 2.5 hours and got out right at the campsite. We were also able to purchase firewood from John directly and he kept us stocked all weekend.
The site has 3 existing fire pits and John has some chairs and tables already set out to use as well.
John was very informative about the local area, and all around just a great guy to talk to. He’s been renting out this spot for about a year now and you can tell he really cares about your experience. At the end of the trip he asked what he could improve and was open to all suggestions we had.
The shower and portapotty was up a small hill by the house. The shower had instantaneous hot water and was very nice after a long day of camping.

Awesome Spot On the river
Our group had a great time tent camping alongside the New River. John was extremely helpful hauling our stuff down the hill to our site (4 wheel drive needed due to muddy weather) brought us firewood, gave us great recommendations and even picked us up at the end of our float down the river. The view is beautiful and the site is right on the water. Would definitely return and recommend to anyone. The kayak rental and firewood available for purchase was also so nice! the shower and port a potty were also a great addition while still feeling like you are truly camping. Thank you so much for sharing your land John!

Wonderful time

It was not what we expected. The access to get to the New River is awkward and mucky. You can not pull up to the further site with your vehicle so it is walk-in only. The toilet is a port-a-potty that is accessed by walking back up the steep driveway access and crossing the road to owner's residence. The potable water and shower is in owner's barn next to the port-a-potty. The shower is not a private stall but in a dark barn with a hand held shower head where there is a rug on the ground you stand on to shower. We chose not to stay and looked for another place to camp.

Camped with our dog!
It was a great site to be at. No one rented the other spot so we had the whole area to ourselves. When we arrived John helped us bring our stuff down which was a great help. We had two tents set up and had plenty of space to fish and have a fire going. We even caught a catfish and a carp! My dog loved being out there and running around, she even jumped in the water just to test it! John had a hot tap shower that felt great to use after a day of sweating. I would improve it by making a platform to stand on as the floor is dirt and does get muddy. Overall a good place to be!

This a a great spot right on the New River! The site is easy access right below the road by the river side. We were a little nervous about hearing cars pass by all night, but it is not a busy road so the site stays quiet and private.
John was an excellent host. He communicated with us ahead of time so we knew exactly where to go and what to expect. He met us right as we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the site and made sure we knew he was there if we needed anything during our stay.
It was a very pleasant experience overall and we would not hesitate to stay at this site again.
