Within a 30-minute drive from the Carbon River Ranger Station.
15 wooded acres about 10 miles from the Carbon River and Mowich entrances to Mount Rainier National Park. Close to Evan’s Creek OHV park, the Carbon River and the towns of Buckley and Carbonado.
RV sites have no hookups, but potable water is available and there is a porta-potty.
Used this as a backup option for trying to snag a first-come-first-serve site in Rainier. Would recommend.

Semi private

We arrived to camp in the dark so we couldn’t see much until morning. Stayed in site #3. All sites are pretty close. Semi private I would say.
Would have been nice to know that the site I picked had a cabin next to us just maybe 15 feet away. In the process of being built. So that morning there was someone there to work on it. Definitely wouldn’t pick that site again since it was so close. Besides that the site itself looks just like the photos. Signs say watch for dogs but you’re not allowed to bring pets. Not sure if that’s because there are dogs on site? Didn’t see any but heard them.

Tent sites are not very private and do not feel outdoorsy to me due to the proximity to the main house and ongoing construction.
The toilet was overflowing the day we arrived, but the owner was out of town due to a family emergency, which I emphasized. I asked for a partial refund, he agreed to send it once things settle down. Now 2 weeks later he still has not contacted me.

Not so hip camp
Tent ·
Upon entering, we noticed our site was covered with very large gravel. So if you have a tent and sleeping on large rocks “rocks your world”, come here. There are also construction workers, working on the container homes on the next site over that will help you wake up by 8am if you’re wanting to rise early. Lastly, if you’re looking for a filled-to-the-brim porto potty with empty sanitizer, this place is for you!

Very quiet and peaceful site. I've been staying at hipcamps for years now never have I been to one as quiet as this one, fell asleep almost immediately when I got in my tent. Sites are spacious and private. Would def come back.

Perfect location, primo facility!
15 ft pop-up camper ·
The campsite is a terrific location for doing all the fun activities on that side of Rainier. There are epic hikes that originate at Mowich and Carbon river, an ATV area etc… We’ve stayed at numerous hipcamps all over the US and this was one of the cleanest, most beautiful and well-managed. We have a small teardrop type camper and the sites were all nice and level and car/trailer-friendly. We’re coming back!
