A back yard filled with junk
Tent · With kids ·
I was excited to stay here and reached out ahead of time to get additional info. I was driving 9 hours from Oregon for a wedding and just needed a safe place to put my tent so my kids and I had a place to stay. The Hipcamp info said that my host would meet me upon my arrival, and a few days ahead of time I reached out to clarify that part. I received a response but it didn’t address my questions. So I showed up around 4pm to set up my tent, and no one answered the door. I walked around where I presume the camping spots are, and honestly didn’t find a single place I wanted to put a tent. There were random things all over the yard, an old mattress here, some dolls hanging out there. It was definitely just someone’s back yard with random junk around. And no nice shady spots for a tent. There was one spot, but it had things sticking out of the ground that meant the space wouldn’t fit my tent. I have no idea if there was any other space or not, but it appeared the rest of the property didn’t have any shade. I kept knocking and called the number in Hipcamp, but the call disconnected immediately multiple times and from multiple phones. Texts were not answered, nor were Hipcamp messages. Found a random person near the house and got another phone number… called that and got no answer. I never ended up hearing a thing from the host. I ended up having to spend $200/nt for a last minute hotel. I did get my money back, but honestly think I should have gotten more to help with the hotel.

It was very peaceful here! The hosts were super generous - providing us with campfire wood when we didn’t have any! Great stay :-)

The experience with Nancy was awesome. Unfortunately, I had to cancel last minute, but Nancy was very understanding and communicating with her through the entire process was great. I am really looking forward to booking with Nancy again I would highly recommend her to others.

Cattle Pasture
Tent · With pets ·
Nancy was a responsive host and she gave great directions to her HipCamp. This spot is unestablished, just a cattle pasture, but they created a fire pit and had toilets for our convenience. It would be nice to see a more developed tent pad; however, we made due with all of the room. I was surprised by the amount of noise that traveled from the road, because it seemed like it would have light traffic. Overall, this served our purpose of a one night stay, was easy to find and was close to McCall.

Easy to find, great space, friendly hosts. Close to McCall if you want to go to town, but quiet enough to relax away from others. We had a great stay.
