Dark Hollow Park provides beautiful, private, and secure primative campsites. Potable water and a composting privey are available. The camp host is on site if there are any questions. There is a one-mile hiking trail, a small stream and waterfalls located a short hike down into Dark Hollow. The Hollow is rich in history. There is a small Amphitheater in the bottom of the hollow where permanent water remains year round. Dark Hollow has played many rolls from sancuary to battleground over the years. There are numerous activities with in a short distance.Dark Hollow is a beautiful property with plenty of tenting options. Campers often hear lions, tigers, or wolves from the sanctuary located in Sand Valley below. The terrain is rugged with a steep hike down to the creek. There are many hiking trails throughout the 14 acres. Dark Hollow has a rich history of use due to the year around water sources and the terrain providing a defensible position. The Amphitheater located in the bottom of the hollow is unique and gives a glimpse into the past. The camp host is located across the highway if you would like more information.

Dark Hollow

Very satisfied

Honestly, it was a great experience! The one downfall on the site was that I did not have cell service to communicate with the host. We planned a very last minute night. Fortunately, the other campers were able to give us a quick run down and we found a site (not sure if the site, eek sorry). They also helped us locate the fire wood on the premisis and porta john not far from entrance. We woke up and explored only a few yards from our site and found a different site with a lovely mountain view. The sites we saw had picnic tables and fire rings with enough room for a tent and the site we had we drove into and stayed right in our truck. Highly recommend this site! We will return to explore the land more. Thank you Danny. Hope to meet you next time we will arrive earlier! Everything you need is just at the entryway.

Highly recommended spot

There is a little traffic noise in the day, but dies down at night. Hearing the lions roar is an awesome experience from down in the valley. Breathtaking views.

Campsite was pretty close to the road, but it wasn't super loud. The hike down the water is kind of steep but fun and the creek is beautiful.

Definite return!

We arrived and were given the tour of the campsites and what to do after setting up. The sites were private and amenities operational and clean. Also, att was at 5g. While leaving the house this morning, I was hit with a few hornets that made a nest under the stairs. Needless to say, eventually the swelling made me miserable and had to leave early. We will be back in the Fall to check out the rest. 5 star host, no doubt.

Beautiful scenic view, drive-in

This place was absolutely beautiful, and the hosts were very accommodating. We had an unexpectedly late arrival, and Danny was very kind about it. We were the only ones there, so it was very quiet, even though it is close to the road (it’s not a busy road). The view from The Ledge is amazing. There were toilets available, and I had cellular reception the entire time, even down by the creek. Would highly recommend and will be back in cooler weather. Thanks!

Dark Hollow

Hands down the best place to camp in northern AL. View from the landing was amazing and the 1mi trail in the draw was wonderful. The shower was a great surprise. The host was helpful and friendly.
