Located at the southern foothills of the Ouachita Mountains and the northwestern edge of Lake Greeson, this 6 acre plot of land is part of a gentle hillside that descends into the lake. Enjoy two trails to Lake Greeson and easily access nearby boat launches, public beaches, parks, and much more! Come make yourself at home on Bluegill Hill and enjoy the small lake village lifestyle!Fox Nook is a primitive campsite that offers privacy and lots of shade within a young forest of mostly oak and pine trees.
There's plenty of space that comes with booking a stay at Fox Nook, so that offers you a few choices on where to set up. All of the following are part of your booking, so choose one or all! Fox Nook is the main attraction, has small yard table, bbq pit, and fire ring. However, there is also a tiny spot just uphill to Fox Nook with leveled ground that will accommodate a small tent. Then there is the small ridge area about 20 yards above Fox Nook. It's part of the road in and is a loop, so it's great for trailers over 12' or any larger setup than what can fit in Fox Nook. So yeah, plenty of options for you, all part of your booking!
It's a perfect part of Bluegill Hill to accommodate a campsite and I think you're going to love it!
There are two hiking trails that lead to the lake and both require only a few minutes of walking. Kitty Cove trail is the shortest walk, about 2 or 3 minutes, and leads to a secluded cove with two islands. Bennett Cove trail takes about 4 minutes to walk and joins into a road from a small neighborhood of vacation cabins (and very few full-time residents), so it is possible that this area might have a few friendly folks enjoying the lake. It is a great area to swim and sunbathe on the shale shoreline.
After a short distance on these trails, you will be leaving Bluegill Hill's private property and entering public land that surrounds the lake. A large buffer of land along shoreline, and the lake, is overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers. It's all open to the public, but this area of the lake sees very little traffic and remains a hidden gem.
At dawn, nature wakes up and the songbirds sing, occasionally crows visit, and I also have chickens at the top of the hill. The roosters have a powerful voice but the ridge above the campsite and the trees do a great job of deflecting and muffling the sound. The most unnatural sound will be from the occasional semi-truck traveling along the highway. It's a small highway, not a main thoroughfare, and they rarely transport on weekends. All areas along the northern edge of Lake Greeson are close to the highway, luckily Fox Nook is one that is tucked pretty well into the forest but it's not immune to the sound of the occasional weekday semi-truck. By 10 a.m. the breeze picks up from the south and helps push back any highway noise.

RV/tent site
You'll have this Hipcamp all to yourself.
8 guests max
Campfires allowed
Firepit. Firewood sold here at sliding scale prices. Whatever you think is fair and can afford. More info on hanging box in Fox Nook. As with all camping protocol, do not transport wood from one zone to another. Foreign pests, larva, bacteria/mold, etc, might damage a local forest. You do not have to purchase my firewood, you may bring from anywhere in Pike County Arkansas. Message me with any questions.
Toilet available
Flush toilet, portable toilet. Comfort Station with flush toilet & well-water spigot/hose 400 feet from site (center of property). Camp toilet on-site with make-shift privacy. Basic system uses aluminum frame commode, bucket and plastic bags. For solid waste only. Cleaned/Sanitized after checkout. Everything provided except toilet paper. Place bag into bucket, use bungee cord to keep from folding in on itself, add sawdust... Tie off bag and place into holding container alongside restroom area.
Pets allowed
Off leash. Please keep your pet within range of your return call. Do not allow any animal to venture to top of the hill (up by house and chicken coop). You can take with you to water meadow but on leash. I prefer no animal at top of hill by house. My dog loves people but any animal near house or chickens will stress her out, as well as the chickens. Other than that, off-leash is fine and have a great time!
Bins available
Trash bin. Eventually all trash will need to go to bin at top of hill, by driveway. If you prefer to leave in bins on-site, I'm happy to remove after checkout. Be aware of attracting raccoons with trash buildup.
No potable water
Bring your own water, purify from spigot. Well water spigot/hose at center of property 400 feet from site.

The host was very well communicated and the campsite was great! Had a good time despite it raining for 2/3 days. But what are you gonna do? It would look beautiful if we had been there while the trees were grown.
