80+ acres all to yourself!! This beautiful and very secluded property, with river, kayaks, trails, and creeks is offered to only one group at a time to ensure peace, quiet, and seclusion. No other guests will overlap your stay. You will enjoy the peaceful solitude in nature completely alone! It's a great location for romantic getaways, silent personal retreats, yoga, playing in the river, or just spending quiet one-on-one time with your spouse or significant other. The last 1/2 mile of dirt road is sometimes rough, so cars with low ground clearance are not recommended. Campers on Thunder Mountain enjoy the entire property, including the unique outdoor bathhouse with outdoor tub and shower, amazing multi-level decks, kayaks, grill, trails, hammocks, and tubes - without the cost of the cabin. The cabin will be vacant during camping stays, but you can still enjoy the WiFi and other amenities outside. ($30-90/night camping; $190-280/night cabin - listed separately) Last minute bookings may have discounted rates. Camping bookings for 1 to 2 nights are sometimes available even if the calendar does not show due to cabin cleaning days. We'll try to move our cleaning days around to help you out if possible. If you see a price of $999, that is a date that can be opened up for you at a low price ($30-50) but will have some restrictions on check-in or check-out time. Just ask!You will be completely alone to enjoy the whole property and private section of the river on Thunder Mountain. Two guests (maximum) get free use of kayaks, tubes, and a paddle boat to enjoy on your own in the large swimming hole area of the river. You will also have private access to the unique outdoor bathhouse overlooking the river and Ouachita Mountains. Hike 4 miles of private trails. Set up camp by the river, on the large deck, or set up near your car in the pine and hardwood forest next to our cabin above the river. The cabin will be vacant during your camping stay and no other guests will overlap your stay.  You can enjoy the views from the front and back porch and awesome three-tier deck. You may also use our propane grill or fire rings. The property extends across both sides of the river for almost 1/2 mile, so seclusion and tranquility is abundant! Water and electricity are available outside the cabin. The bathhouse contains a large outdoor shower, deep antique tub, and sink. There is a separate outhouse with a flushing toilet available near the cabin.  We only rent to 2 people max (one group) even though the property is large. That's 40 acres per person!!   :-)   ATVs are not allowed to be used on the property.  Full Calendar Options - The camping calendar is mostly blocked until the cabin calendar fills in. For open dates more than a couple months out, just ask.  If you don't see camping dates that you want, just ask and I'll see if we can move our cleaning days to make room for you.  Need a cheaper price? Never hurts to ask especially if an open date is less than a couple weeks away.  :-)  A price of $999 on some dates will actually be $30-50 but it will have some restrictions on check-in or check-out times due to cleaning. Just ask about those dates. The calendar is 95% accurate, but we will try to make something work for you if we can! Cell service works ok with Verizon near the cabin and on top of high hills.  WiFi calling works great close to the cabin. ATT works only in a couple spots near the cabin. The last 1/2 mile to the camping area is a rough dirt road with a steep hill just before reaching the cabin.  Cars can make it if they aren't too low to the ground but a small SUV or truck is recommended. 118 steps from the cabin and parking area to the river. So although camping next to the river is great, it's more effort to carry your things there. Pop-ups and campers less than 18' long are welcome, but anything larger will not fit due to trees. All vehicles must park near the cabin. Naturists and skinny dipping are allowed as long as you stay away from the county road and bridge on the edge of the property.  Please keep a towel handy if you are hiking near the edge of the property.  Please switch off the outdoor security camera if it is not already off (We tell guests where the switch is). Enjoy the freedom and seclusion however you want!

Private River- Kayaks & Bathhouse!
Kayaking at sunrise
Such a beautiful place. Everything about it is perfect. A little slice of heaven. The views, the kayaks, the bathhouse...it's all so wonderful. I know I will definitely be back to explore more.

Private River- Kayaks & Bathhouse!
Todd's place at Thunder Mountain is so unique and definitely a special way to experience outdoor camping. We stayed in our tent on the deck. It was nice to have access to water and electricity-and the outdoor bath/shower area was such a highlight. We enjoyed the privacy and being able to take our pups down to the water to swim and play without worrying about them running off to greet other campers. I would love to go back for a longer stay in the future. Todd's communication also made everything really easy and carefree.

Private River- Kayaks & Bathhouse!
Everything about our 5th anniversary stay was perfect. We tent camped out on the deck, and the weather was amazing our entire stay, cool at night and morning, and warm during the day. We hiked, kayaked, napped on hammocks, bathed in the moonlight......and the wildlife we encountered in the water and on land were a special treat, including a surprise visit from a Luna Moth in the bath house and a tiny spiny soft shell turtle we found while rock hunting in the river......and, of course, the amazing sounds of nature. Thunder Mountain is an incredible property, and we cannot wait to return!

Private River- Kayaks & Bathhouse!
Getaway Experience
Perfect stop on our travels after a long week. We had a wonderful time, despite the rain and storms. We watched lighting and fog swirl around the mountain tops from the back porch swing. We caught a break in the rain long enough to have a lovely, grilled meal on the back deck. I loved the yard and deck lighting! The outhouse is superb lol The bathhouse was absolutely stunning and one of the coolest spots on this property - where we spent most of our time! Perfect for relaxing and hanging out, overlooking the river. Helped us escape the rain, just a little leaky! haha The rain decided to hang around our entire stay but on the last day they allowed us to stay later than check out time to enjoy it in the sunshine before we had to leave. (I thought that was really nice:) Didn't have enough sunshine time for the kayaks and paddle boats but we will be back! And maybe with friends to rent the cabin! Loved that there's a trail to walk. We spotted some mushrooms and saw lots of birds! In the daylight, as we sat on the back porch, we saw a bald eagle flying by with a fish in his claws! So cool! All around 10/10 would recommend 💖
