If you've ever wondered what it might be like to camp on the moon, this is it. Completely removed from civilization and surrounded by a barren nature that is alive with the subtle presence of the universe. Seasonally, Spring wildflowers burst across the landscape. Cave paintings of Chumash Indians remind us of those who lived before us. This is where the deer and the antelope play. Our Carrizo Camp is surrounded by the Carrizo Plains National Monument. This is truly a get away from it all camping. That's it. You, the coyotes and your own private moon. Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets. Our Ranch House and Glampsites are available on occasion. This is our home but we love to share our life in the outback. We believe it will give you a better appreciation of life's simpler side. This land was sparsely populated by the Chumash Indian and is evident by the numerous cave painting that remain here near the Caliente mountain. In the era of the California Missions, this land was a part of the Spanish land grants. Currently the property is privately owned and is adjacent to large sections of publicly held lands.

Site 4 - Songdog West Campsites.
Isolation Perfected!
The site was very private with epic views and a night sky among the best I've ever seen. The shade structure was nice and the portapotties (yes, it's rustic!) were immaculate. The host was very communicative via text and the Hipcamp message system. I look forward to returning! There is a small but well-stocked store about 10 miles away in New Cuyama.

Songdog Double Fire
Songdog never disappoints! I’ll keep coming back. That Santa Maria grill at double fire is awesome. And Jim has firewood at $1 per stick and it burns forever.

Songdog Double Fire
Camping on the Moon!
Our group of 10 had a really incredible time at Snogdog Ranch! We stayed at Double Fire and the site had plenty of space for us. Potable water was available and toilets were just a short walk away. There were other unbooked campsites in the proximity, but we had the entire east side of the mesa to ourselves. The breezes and views on top of the mesa were quite spectacular, with both stunning sunsets and sunrises across the desert. Appreciated the well-maintained BBQ, large shade structure, and picnic tables. Access to the site was along a dirt road which I was able to navigate without problem in my Prius. Would come back!

Draw Camp in the Far West
Great sunset
Draw camp in the far west is very private with great sunset and views. Perfect for family bonding. Just bring extra umbrella or shade since you get a lot of sun in the afternoon. Nonetheless, we had a great time. Thanks to Jen for dropping by to say hi to us.

Draw Camp in the Far West
OMGOSH! Amazing.
This was a perfect place for me to begin my tent camping adventure in California. Jen was great at communication before I got there, as I had a few questions. Then I was greeted by Jim. As I set up my camp. The site was big, the shelter over the picnic table was perfect, and the outhouse CLEAN! Definitely get a tepid tub. It’s worth it. GO! Make your reservation now!
