Located in the national sequoia forest, Havilah pines homestead is a unique place, we are in the middle of a canyon, rural and remote but not too remote, do note that there is no cell service here but we do offer wifi service for a fee. the closest town and Lake is about 20 minutes away. we have the cleanest air in Kern, blue skies most days and stars during the night like you have never seen them in the city! it can get toasty during the day, but once that sun goes behind the mountain it cools off that some times you want to put something on! We are a micro farm growing organic food and practicing non GMO sustainable organic farming methods even our animals eat only organic non GMO feed, among our livestock are chickens, turkeys and guinea fowl, they happily free range on the homestead and produce delicious eggs, if you haven't eaten eggs like free range ones then you must try them! the taste is light years different than the store bought ones... It is a quite and peaceful place(except the roosters and guineas), at night you hear crickets and frogs and early in the morning wake up to a pleasant tune of wild bird's symphony.

Camping here was a breeze. Even in the hot summer months. The site is under a big tree that protects you from the sun. I’d stay here again.

It was such an awesome experience! A special thank you to Danny and Joseph; you made the stay with my kids very memorable. I especially appreciated the tour of the farm and all the helpful advice as to where to go and what to do. The campground was exactly as described. Visitor Recommendations: Make sure to take a portable shower, as it was invaluable for us during our three-night stay. There's endless amount of water available with garden hose. Bug spray will help a lot, and of course a table and grill. Overall a fantastic location, only 15-20 mins away from town and 30 mins from nearest Marina at Lake Isabella.

Horrible experience
First the campsite was not conducive for multiple tents and cars. The reservation was for 8 people and 4 cars and required approval from the host who should have declined it knowing the size of his site. There is one narrow drive way in and maneuvering 3 trucks around was a joke. There is one site and it is infested with red ants, a bee hive in the tee above and an insane amount of mosquitoes. We ended up leaving early and staying at Hobo Campground right on the river with far fewer mosquitoes. The neighbors dogs barked aaallll night long, not a place for peaceful sleep in the wilderness. We came camping to reduce stress, this place was not it. We were also sold religion by the host and his brother and debated with by the brother when we said we were not interested. Very inappropriate and uncomfortable. Our second night as we sat preparing dinner and hanging by the fire they began weed wacking the hill on our site for at least hour until I asked him to do it another time. Then that night was the final straw with a loud and intense verbal altercation happening in the hosts residence with yelling and cussing and was very aggressive sounding. This was at bed time for again at least an hour. We were all in our tents trying to go to sleep and felt very unsafe and trapped. We woke early the next day, packed up and took off to stay at a real campground and enjoyed the rest of our trip.

It’s a nice set up with a fire pit, hose, and it’s super convenient to order wood instead of having to lug it up. We cooked/smoked up food and we also got the eggs. It’s the mountains so be prepared for some crawlies but we didn’t have any issues.
