This is a historical property in campo California. A great old west town with an interesting history behind it. This particular property was where the Buffalo soldiers kept their working horses close to 100 years ago in what is now the last standing original buffalo soldier barn. Old artifacts and handmade tack can still be found in the giant rustic barn. The barn is now used to breed unique crossbred horses that have gained Note-oriety, and have been featured on the cover of magazines, including the Boot Barn campaign (who intend to use the barn in in future photo shoots) as well as use famous spotted horse, Confettis American Warrior in the next ad campaign being shot in Hollywood next month. We tried to keep the barn with its original charm and added some world class beautiful horses that are available for riding around the property and/or photoshoots during your stay for an additional cost.
We have extra stalls available for people who would like to bring their own horses for a unique camping experience including riding your horse in Camp Locket and along the USA/America border wall. Lots of space for trailer and very secure stalls in the barn.
We are just starting out doing this, but have the options of staying in a brand new shed yet to be converted, in the barn inside an old stall to have a real authentic experience where the soldiers used to rest or a tent overlooking the old historical barn and the fabulous horses (right now we have babies!). We have multiple cross fences fenced areas including stalls and areas for your dog but will need to discuss details beforehand. We are very pet and people friendly.Cozy and rustic 10x20 barn-style shed, a unique glamping experience you won't forget! Although it's yet to be converted and insulated, it's already equipped with water and power to provide you with the basic amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Inside the gates of our property, you'll find a peaceful and private setting, perfect for a relaxing getaway.
Enjoy the beautiful views of our ranch and the stunning sunsets that paint the sky with vibrant colors. You'll have plenty of parking space, making it convenient for you to come and go as you please.
Just a short 15-minute drive away is Tecate, a safe and charming Mexico border town. Explore the local culture, try delicious cuisine, and immerse yourself in the friendly atmosphere of this lovely town.
For train enthusiasts and those whom appreciate history or the old Wild West, a train museum located just a few blocks away offers amusement and educational train rides through the Campo area on weekends. It's a fun and unique way to experience the history and charm of the region.
If you're looking for outdoor activities, there's no shortage of options here. From hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the area to horseback riding, photo shoot in the old rustic barn/with horses ( just yourself for loved ones or with loved ones- see portfolio) checking out old mines searching for gold and other treasures, the local hot springs, painting rocks with your hostess or learning to make jewelry or goats milk soap, or getting lucky at the local Indian Casinos, … you'll find plenty to keep you entertained. And if working around animals and not necessarily riding them is your interest- we can set up “a day at the ranch” where you can complete tasks to do around the barn along side the animals. Relaxing with no agenda is always a fabulous choice as well. We have board games and a movie projector to watch movies under the stars.
For those interested in equestrian experiences, you can get a lesson or even do a photo shoot on a horse in our stable. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with these majestic animals and create lasting memories. If you are campers that have brought your horses…. We have stalls that are in the barn with runs that are pretty much small pastures with fresh clean water heavy hay feedings,, a barn manager for assistance 24/7, wash rack, arena, round pen, a pasture… You can sleep in a tent with beloved horse companion in the pasture or stay in a stall next to your equine partner. The border wall is only a short ride off the property and there are miles of trails to explore the area. We can accommodate just about any horse request…. And have tons of information of the best places to ride near the property. Just ask! Have your horse stay in a stall that the buffalo soldiers had their horses in 100 years ago with modern conveniences, but the same old, wild West rustic charm. We are here to serve you or stay out of your hair! Looking forward to you visiting our unique small town!
