Great site. Beautiful creek and had the whole place to ourselves.
The drive in was a bit sketchy with lots of broken down cars and debris. Don’t be swayed. Keep on driving. Worth it !

Perspective / Hidden Gem
Had an amazing experience for Father’s Day weekend . Weather conditions not hot a little chill in the night (basically perfect).
In/Out - We came south from Oregon /via I-5/89/299/Big bend rd. Our gps initially took us to McCloud not knowing the quality of road from McCloud lake to Iron canyon reservoir we went back out down to burney. The drive in was a little sketch with burnt out cars /trailers etc. We kept going down the road. Made it to the corner entrance.
Leaving we gave it a shot and took to the pot holed road and gravel rock path. It was “fine” however I’d have preferred the burnt out cars path for comfort/ speed of travel. I can’t speak to the route to Redding however I’d assume it’s just fine.
Our stay. It’s a largely un-improved area which is what we expected so for what it is it’s not bad.
We chose a location within 40’+/- off the water.
There were three other camping groups at property and hardly noticed as it’s such an open space.
Hot spring pools - after speaking with presumably locals the pools had been in better condition some time ago. However four of the pools are in usable condition. Two near the broken down ones and two a short hike over the hill.
We appreciated the hike over the hill and maybe the path less traveled.
The river - easily accessible to sit in as an almost cold plunge experience was nice. We walked down from our camp to the hot springs appreciating the vibrant colors of the rocks in the water along the way.

Father’s Day Camping
Great host! Super nice and welcoming. Came in super late and he still met me late at the gate. If you’ve got a day to just hang out here, it was perfect access to the river and the hot springs. Very secluded from other campers which was what we wanted. My other goal was to still travel around to the local falls, which was a little time consuming because it takes 30min to get in from 299. Something I wish I did better research on, but all in all, still worth the visit.

The whole experience was great! I highly recommend! Hot springs are just a short walk away.
