Our ranch consists of 142 acres located at the top of East Cuesta Grade, elevation approximately 2100 ft. We are secluded and it feels like you're far away from city life yet San Luis Obispo is only a twenty minute drive away. We neighbor Los Padres National Forest which has several miles of hiking and biking trails. On our farm we have 10 sheep, 10 goats, 22 chickens, 2 pigs, 4 dogs and a cat. Interaction with farm animals is common place as most campsites are close to our animal pastures. Bee hives are located on the property as well. Honey, eggs and firewood are available for purchase. :)

Gorgeous view, responsive hosts
We really enjoyed our time at The Range. The Range is a bit pricier than the other camp sites but well worth it. Its location at the top felt secluded and is so, so quiet. The sunsets were breathtaking; we'd look out toward the ocean and see rolling hills, fog, and the sun setting then turn around and look toward the mountains where we'd see the moon shining bright. It was truly so beautiful! The pigs and goats visiting cracked my kids up, and they enjoyed the animals. Karina and Chris were extremely responsive via text, and would pop on over if we needed anything. We have little kids who can be quite sensitive to noise etc. and The Range actually comes with a little shed covering that we parked our tent under. A 3 night stay with 2 kids (3, 5 yo) felt ambitious but was only made possible by doing this because it kept our tent cool and we got actual real naps in in the middle of the day, which has never happened with camping before! We loved their campfire set up and the picnic table with chairs. It's such a large area and we can't wait to return! We've told so many of our friends about the location already :) And so near to SLO = lots of hiking, beaches, etc. It is a bit of a trek to get back to the main road since the camping area is high up on a narrow road, but totally manageable.

Had a lovely stay at Shady Oak! Karina and Chris were super kind and welcoming hosts. The spot was neat, peaceful, and had everything we needed. It was especially meaningful for me—I used to ride my bike up here as a kid, so it felt like a sweet trip down memory lane.

Overall we had a great experience. It’s a good camping spot. It was convenient to have a trash bin next to the picnic table. Drive up is a bit narrow (one lane) and it was helpful that we were in an SUV.
