Rumor has it our house was built by the famed western actor Alan Ladd as a secret getaway back in the 50s. There’s 5 acres, partly shaded by old mesquite trees and native Washingtonia palms that tower over rock lined paths. I recently fixed up our old 1949 tear drop camper for staying in after it had been abandoned for 30 years. It’s equipped with solar power, a gas burner, a pump sink, and a cooler. This is a place for people that love old stuff! No marble countertops and stainless steel will be found. For lovers of the funky. There’s an outhouse, an outdoor shower, and a 9 foot deep swimming pool too. We’re situated between the San Andreas fault and the the Little San Bernardino Mountains, so spectacular hikes are a short walk away. After every golden sunset, the stars do not disappoint.Pitch a tent or stay in our vintage trailer! There are 5 acres to explore, a pool to swim in and plenty of trees and bushes to hide from the sun (and the neighbors). When the wind dies down campfires in our main fire ring are welcome. Wake up when the rooster crows and don’t be surprised hear horses trotting down our block. The yard is full of wild quail, doves, and roadrunners. Go out at night with a black light and you might be able to see how our place got it’s name!

Very nice and peaceful stay! We had then entire property to ourselves! Close drive to Palm Springs as well. My wife and I had relaxed and stayed at our site the majority of our stay bc we enjoyed it so much.

Cute and relaxing!
We booked this spot last minute to have a nice quiet relaxing night before making our way to Palm Springs. This location is funky as heck! The trailer is bigger on the inside and the bed is pretty comfy. We loved playing with their dog, and chilling on the little patio. Thanks for having us Harlan!

Sweet Rustic Camper
This is the cutest little camper! Cosy and vintage, if you like rustic this is for you. The toilet is an outhouse and the shower is outdoors, so you must be ok with roughing it. We used the hot tub, the pool was too cold for early March. This is a quiet and peaceful spot, nothing glamorous about it!

Highly Recommend!
This trip was everything I needed and more. I even managed to record a full spiritual class while I was there! The only challenge was the desert winds—I wasn’t used to them. But overall, this place is absolutely perfect. I highly recommend visiting!

Me and my friend had a wonderful trip out at Harlan’s place. They were so welcoming and had great recommendations. The place was so cute and had everything we needed. Would 100% book again next time I make it back towards Joshua tree.
