The Boathouse
July 4th Firework Escape/Get Away
We had a great time. The Boat House is small, but very cozy. Having the creek right in front of us was perfect. Our dog had the BEST time running around the property and playing in the creek. All the amenities such as the "wack shack", fire pit, tables, chairs, and ample spaces to just chill out and relax are such a fun bonus. Walking distance to the beach also makes for a fabulous time! Would definitely recommend and come back again. Linda and her husband Rich are great hosts! :)

The Boathouse
Drive along the scenic Bohemian Hwy beneath the fabled redwoods, enter an unmarked gate, and step into an imaginative creekside hideaway for grown-ups. With its cluster of elevated, grass-thatched huts & a secluded cabin linked by charming footpaths, it looks like you’ve stumbled upon the backlot of a movie set in Bora Bora, with a dash of Pee Wee’s Playhouse thrown in. So kick back. Enjoy the natural beauty. Wander around the grounds & discover the many clever and whimsical design elements scattered throughout.
A pair of surfboards in the shower& kitschy little touches that make you smile? Check. Amenities like top-notch bedding, gas grill, and a fully-equipped kitchen (including ice-maker!) that opens onto a tiki-themed, pass-through bar? Check. Countless little outdoor seating areas, including a water-side fire pit, and private decks attached to each dwelling? Yup. Altogether, WackaWonderland checks all the boxes. Affordable, too!
A word about the hosts. Not only have they built these accommodations virtually from scratch, using up-cycled materials & re-purposed artifacts, but both of them understand the concept of hospitality. Engaging and welcoming, but never intrusive. Forthcoming with restaurant recs & “sneaky pete” shortcuts to the beach, but never pushy. What’s more, they've thoughtfully anticipated guest needs as though they themselves were the vacationers -- a rare virtue. Clearly this enterprise is a labor of love. And lucky you! You get to enjoy it all!

The Boathouse
The boathouse camp site was perfect for a mix between camping and glamping. We had a nice "tiny house" bedroom with patio and big shared kitchen and BBQ grill. It felt like staying at a private summer camp. The Hosts were kind and very helpful and well informed about the area. We will definitely stay there again 😁

Cozy Cabin
We loved staying at Cozy Cabin! It was in a perfectly private spot located right by a trailhead and coffee shop. The cabin was very quaint, and had lots of character. Hosts were so lovely and accommodating! The cabin is 10 minutes away from the town of Guerneville. Highly recommend staying here!

The Boathouse
Lynda Lu and Rich are lovely and welcoming hosts! Communication was excellent and we found the hipcamp easily. Their dog is super friendly and adorable too, which is always a lovely bonus. The entire hipcamp is so thoughtfully put together. The boathouse was very cozy and we appreciated the little heater and heating pad since it got cold at night. Though there was another party also using the hipcamp we had the bathroom/shower and the kitchen area all to ourselves, it also still felt very private. It was such a relaxing stay at a convenient location. I would definitely come back. Highly recommend! You can tell a lot of love went into creating and maintaining Wackalulu's Wonderland and I was constantly marveling at all the little on-theme surprises around the property.

Cozy Cabin
Hidden gem in the woods!
Our hosts, Lynda Lu and Rich, were warm, inviting and accommodating. They were very proactive in keeping us informed about directions, what we would need (I especially appreciated the heads up about how to access the gate, and to bring layers to stay comfortable in the chilly mornings), and things to do locally. The Cabin is beautiful, and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bed was very cozy, the kitchen was fully equipped and the generous seating options both inside and on the deck gave us plenty of options to spread out. It was great having the private hot tub and gas barbecue grill available. Their property, which they gave us a tour of on our arrival, is beautiful and maintained with loving skill. Highly recommended, we will be back for another relaxing stay in the redwoods!
