Your base camp for Gold Medal fishing at Spinney Mountain Reservoir, or just some relaxation and stargazing! Once a gargantuan ranch, this section of South Park has been subdivided into residential and recreational lots so more of us can enjoy the local beauty. This neck of the woods remains sparsely populated, assuring you of peace and privacy. Learn more about this land: Enjoy exclusive use of this six-acre spread which features trees, rock outcroppings, and absurd mountain views. Remote yet accessible by county road, the property is a few miles from Hartsel, where you'll find a general store and saloon, and the other historic railroad settlements of Park County. (Learn about the South Park National Heritage Area at southparkheritage.org.) The property has flat (but not *quite* level) areas for easy tent setup and also gently sloping and wooded areas for exploring. All supplies (including water) must be packed in, and all waste packed out. I stashed a collapsible picnic table behind the big rock and you're welcome to use that, please just fold it and stash it again. There is a fire ring, please just check if there is in a burn ban in place. There are no structures at all on the property. Per Hipcamp and local zoning, you may not relieve yourself outdoors; you must be in a vehicle or privacy tent. If you see some expensively outfitted motorcyclists cruise by, they're from the Rawhyde Training Camp up the road so give them a wave!Enjoy exclusive use of this six-acre spread which features trees, rock outcroppings, absurd mountain views, stargazing, and QUIET. Regarding the recommended 20’ trailer limit: a guest who brought a 30’ trailer bent a scissor jack beyond repair yet said everything else was perfect and he wanted to come back. So you can try it at your discretion. Obviously weather can be active in the mountains. One factor to be aware of throughout Park County is that there can be a stiff wind.

Awesome Views, All for You!
What a special place! The directions were spot on and took us right there. The road before you turn onto the campsite road was a little washed out and took careful navigation but had no issues getting through it. It was so peaceful and quiet up there and the views were to die for. It was great that there was a small picnic table and the fire ring! Make sure you take a peek at the sky if it’s clear, the stars were amazing. 100% would camp again!

Great quiet spot!
Great spot, very secluded and peaceful. We were there over Memorial Day and had no traffic driving by and no neighbors within earshot/sight. The campsite does not have a great level spot for a tent - there's a flat area but it certainly isn't level - so no issues for a trailer but ground sleeping was challenging. The view from up the hill from the camping area is fantastic. Fire ring was great, directions were accurate and the picnic table is a nice-to-have. We were unfortunate to visit during a super windy day which cut our trip short but would definitely go back!

Felt private, view was spectacular! Very highly recommend. Directions were good and the site was well marked. Bring leveling blocks if you’re RV camping.

Star gazing at its finest!
We had a wonderful time camping on Erin’s land. The directions were great and the bumpy road didn’t give us much trouble. We pulled a 22ft travel trailer to the spot and it maneuvered just fine. The highlight for us was hanging by the fire ring and taking in the stars and moon rise. It was spectacular! Our dogs loved it and had plenty of space to roam and sniff. We love to hike in the FairPlay area so this home base was perfect. Can’t wait to hopefully return!

Nice place to get away from it all
Eric's land is a fantastic place, located on a hilltop with an incredible vista. There are plenty of different locations on which to set up your tent or park a small trailer. Eric sends you very easy directions to navigate to the site, and is very responsive with any questions.
