Family owned 5 acre off grid property in the Arapahoe National Forest Learn more about this land: Velkommen to the Viking tent in Idaho Springs! In the mountains just off of I-70, is this cozy little bell tent hiding in the trees. You'll have furs and a toasty stove to sip your morning coffee by in the seclusion of your tent. There's also a large fire pit with seating to eat your dinner by perhaps, and maybe chat with other travelers who are staying on the property. The fire pit is between your tent and another, and for shared use with other guests. At nearly 9,000 ft elevation, we get some gusty winds and unpredictable weather, but the wood burning stove provides a very warm and toasty atmosphere inside, and a rain fly over the tent provides a bit more insulation for keeping heat in at night, and holds it down in the winds quite well. Nestled between two hills on either side, and just feet away from a creek that flows through the spring and early summer, it can feel very secluded, but you are actually just off the road and only about 10 minutes from the town of Idaho Springs. The surrounding aspens and pines are quite magical, just be sure to read our note in the tent about our property boundary. Nearby St Mary's Glacier is a very popular spot, and there are loads of hiking and biking trails nearby. As mentioned before, the tent is just off of the road so you will hear the occasional car driving by, otherwise it's very quiet. There is a composting toilet and a private "toilet tent" on site. No power, just good old fashioned wood burning stove and a plethora of battery powered candles and lanterns. You'll need 4/AWD from about October through April, as we're off of a dirt road. You're in the mountains folks, so bears and moose have been seen on occasion. Please pack out all food and garbage. Drinking water and firewood provided.

Viking Bell Tent

Really cute spot and Lindsay is super responsive and helpful! Only rough point is how close the tent is to the road — not sure where people are going on a dirt road in the middle of the night, but they’re a bit loud! Otherwise the actual tent was sooo cozy and cute! It even had tea and hot cocoa ☺️

Viking Bell Tent

This place was straight up magical. The yurt was so warm and cozy with a wood burning stove that actually heated the place REALLY well. It was also super fun to cook on the stove! We had never cooked on anything like that and it was a pretty fun experience. The first night was clear and I have never seen so many stars in my whole life! The second night it rained a bit but the yurt stayed super dry and cozy on the inside. It was SO nice chillin amongst all the golden aspens! We had an absolute blast! 10/10 weekend!♥️

Cute glamping tent!!

Olde Country Charm Glamping

We had a great time camping! The directions made the site easy to find. The tent was cuter than the pictures. There was another tent nearby, but the campers arrived after we had turned in for the night. There is a road very close to the campsite but it wasn’t noisy, we just noticed headlights once in a while. I would totally recommend this campsite if you want a quick, easy overnight glamping experience.

Viking Bell Tent

The site would have been beautiful if it were as listed. Unfortunately there is a large heap of scrap metal and large corrugated plastic rolls strewn across the site steps away from the yurt. These are not pictured in the listing and the host chose to not tell us about this until exactly at check-in time so it was too late to cancel. The interior zipper of the yurt is also broken. The host was aware but again chose not to mention this until we brought it up during our trip. The exterior zipper also stuck so we had to fight with this one to get in and out of the yurt since the interior was completely broken. There is broken glass scattered everywhere throughout the grounds. Be careful if you have a dog.

Olde Country Charm Glamping

Had an amazing getaway from Denver at Lindsays place! Such a quick drive from the city for peace in nature. Everything was as described. I would recommend renting here 100%!
